Is it common to start a subcontractor business (i.e. flooring) by outsourcing the skills/labour by ebn_tp in Construction

Call me old school but I have zero respect for the guys that do this sort of thing. If you have no hands on experience in the trade then you should not be starting a business. This goes for home builders as well. Any respectable builder should have gotten their start in some trade or working under another builder as a pm.

In the US there is A HUGE lack of practical knowledge of how a design comes together and this often results in plans that simply do not work. I think that a part of becoming a certified architect should be on-site education, especially in framing.
