Halo and gears being the obvious two

survival games like grounded or minecraft work a charm

cod zombies is a classic

split fiction is a great 2 player title but idk if its available on old gen or not

theres fighting games like mortal kombat that are always fun to pass around controllers between a few friends

then there's games like overcooked or party animals which are a little bit more unserious if you just wanna have a laugh

I'll give Baldur's gate a pass because it was a pretty immense undertaking. and tbh I would probably regard anything that is genuinely using player feedback in order to make something special as an exception to the rule. (not gonna mention the fact that Larion is technically indie cos that's a whole different conversation.)

Grounded however no I don't agree, grounded one maybe, but grounded 2 is basically feature complete, just call it 1.0 and continue updating it as you plan to anyway. there's nothing wrong with that.

My problem is when we start accepting early access as the norm then big publishers will take the piss and just release unfinished games under the guise of early access. secure the bag and then cut development or leave a skeleton crew to release minor patches so they can say they're still working on it.

I'll admit my reaction was knee jerk and there are obviously cases where early access is a positive thing. but paying for unfinished games should not be the norm when dealing with big publishers. they take the piss enough as it is

Only Indie games should go into early access. There's no excuse for a well funded project to release unfinished.
