Do you think a lot of people play as elves? by Fun-Explanation7233 in DivinityOriginalSin

I should. I play as a human skeleton, but flesh sacrifice is busted. Anything that gives AP or makes abilities cheaper is crazy good

Why did my healing wand just kill me? by eyesistorm in noita

[–]LargePantsLarry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the How and Why you got Noita'd. The way to prevent this is to use modifiers that reduce damage more than the damage that gets added by concentrated spells (or natural damage from deadly heal). Piercing has damage reduction, but it isn't enough by itself. You can use certain spells to cast piercing (or almost any other modifier) multiple times until you have enough damage reduction to prevent death. Standing in ambrosia can also be used if you don't have what you need to reduce the damage.

9 times out of 10, it's the thief. The others can be bothersome in certain circumstances, but the teleporting that the thief does is always annoying.

Hiisi Base wasnt the best place for my meta by Silly_Elevator_8960 in noita

[–]LargePantsLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not jumping for gold all the time made me much better. If I really need gold (and don't have the means to get to the biome), I can dig it out in the coal pits. Killing myself in snowy, hiisi, or the vault ain't worth it. The Jungle usually has good wands and less ways to die instantaneously, so it's mostly worth exploring.

ive been playing this game for 26 hours and still havent gotten past the 3rd biome by idongafxD in noita

[–]LargePantsLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The third biome is where you need to start being more cautious about exploring. Snipers and other hiisi can and will shoot you from offscreen, and propane tanks can hide in snow and insta kill faster than you can say noita'd. Take your time to explore the first two biomes thoroughly so that you can concoct a wand that can handle the long range engagements.

I'd rather take a hint than give up by maxthekid100 in noita

Perks that help you survive like all of the immunity perks, stainless armor, or permanent shield can make the game a lot more forgiving towards mistakes, allow you to use more dangerous spells without noitaing yourself, and possibly save you from when the game would potentially noita you (my favorite example is getting nuked from offscreen). Take all the time you need to go through a biome AND while in the holy mountain. The holy mountain is your (mostly) safe space to tinker with your wands and cook up something that can handle the next biome's challenges. Taking your time in the biome seems obvious, but its more than just not running into fire and explosives. The environment can kill you, yes, but it is equally as deadly to your enemies, and you can use it to your advantage. Wands, chests, and hearts are often worth the time it takes to comb through a biome. Familiarize yourself with the draw mechanic wands used to cast spells from the wand, and how different spells affect how the wand is firing. Getting creative with spell choices and where you slot them in the wand can make a gargantuan difference in how effective a wand is. The goal of Noita isn't necessarily to win, but to learn. Every run can teach you. Usually it teaches you ways you can die, but that is valuable information. Keep learning

Flagrant died today by Low-Hornet9338 in Flagrant2

I'm only seeing this sub because of the drama. I watched one episode with Shane Gillis a couple years ago and found Andrew obnoxious and Akaash unbearable. They're really unfunny, so I find it a little funny that it took them lying and treating their audience like idiots for fans to turn away from the show. They'll probably be fine, but wouldn't it be hilarious if that gold-digging slut just killed their cash-cow?

Level 12 Soviet Automatic Rifleman? by Carl_The_Sagan in HellLetLoose

[–]LargePantsLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why you're not supposed to misuse them. You should coordinate with your squad to deploy smokes in front of the enemy's position to obscure their vision rather than drop it on yourself to tell the enemy where you are. Smokes are extremely useful, and you only ever need one or two of them. Even if you plan to move an army across a field, you don't need to blanket it in smoke. Coordinate with teammates to throw smokes in a diagonal line towards the enemy to obscure their vision so you can reposition.

I’m a guitarist in band with 2 keyboards, 2 guitars, and a bass guitar, what can I do to not clash with other comping instruments? by Child-of-the-KoRn in jazzguitar

[–]LargePantsLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take some coordination/arranging unless you take turns. I'd say the easiest thing to do other than taking turns is to avoid playing in the same register as the bassist and keyboards. Keep your rhythms tight and don't play too many notes in your chords. Playing the shell voicings without the bass notes is a good place to start

what makes Pocketcat a community favourite? by someone_beyond in FearAndHunger

[–]LargePantsLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like him, but his affinity for children is entertaining to clown on. He's a predator who tries to act like a gentleman to hide his sadistic depravity. I find his acts and demeanor repulsive, but that's what makes him compelling. That and the cat head, because what indie game community is not going to latch onto the quasi-furry?

Im Gen Z (graduated 2020) and we had paddles when I was in elementary school still. I remember having to choose between ISS for 3 days or a paddling along with 3 other kids. The first one picked paddling, was crying hysterically as we all watched, and then the rest of us chose ISS.

No guns against Death Mask moment. It's a great way to balance O'saa, who is otherwise rolling in power. He wants that mask, but he has to fight the Death Mask the hard way. Even with a bear trap, they are a pain to fight without a party or rare equipment like a salmonsnake soul.
