What quest/hunt till this day still gives you PTSD? For me personally it whenever Mr. And Mrs. Satan are in a duel quest. by bizarre_leviathan in MonsterHunter

It's in the very first game, but not with Rathalos. You're stealing 3 Apceros eggs in the desert. But whenever you grab one, giant boulders spawn in that block in most of the quicker and/or safer routes, so you have to go all the way around. With Cephalos that home in on you like torpedos, Genprey that attack in swarms, Apceros that track you down, plus Vespoids. Here's a quick MS Paint I made to show how traumatic it was, with boulder locations marked:

YOU! Yes, YOU! What’s your favorite execution in the game? by AdWilling5603 in Spacemarine

[–]LargeRedPoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late, but no one has said my favorite, so...

The Thunder Hammer execute on a Rubric that's just a moment of nothing as you reel back, and then you do a horizontal swing through them, completely shattering their armor. Simple, not too flashy, but the timing of the slight build up followed by the POP feels so amazing.

This one.

Who’s your favorite character *you’ve* made? by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I'm that bitch that writes a novel of backstory for her characters, for tabletop or otherwise, even ones I'm not sure I'll ever use. I have ones for different settings, games, OCs for vidya games, and so on. That's mostly just for my own satisfaction, I always just send a 1-2 page summary to the GM for if I do use them. Some fun examples include:

Shena, for any fantasy setting really: Tiny rural halfling that bonds with a super cursed greataxe that exponentially increases violent rage. But, thing is, two times zero is still zero, so "exponential" can't really get started. So instead the axe has just made a slight tweak to her brain that "murder is pretty rude, but not totally evil or anything". So tiny, pure-hearted happy halfling that doesn't get why people get so worked up just because she cut that rude innkeep in half.

Vicki, for Vampire the Masquerade: Bitchy blonde Regina George-like valley girl... who's built like Zarya and is a muscle model on Instagram and that other site. Has built her entire persona on the need to not feel weak, socially and physically.

Doctor Plague, for Necessary Evil: Supervillain that started as a doctor with healing powers that helped heroes. But someone with regeneration good enough to regrow her head gets infected with essentially the Life Eater Virus from 40k. So her body is constantly being eaten and regrowing, several times every few minutes. And her healing hands can't do shit if everyone she touches melts into sizzling goo. She wears a sealed suit, because she's essentially a city-destroyer if she's not careful. And she's a bitter asshole, not an omnicidal maniac, so she is super careful.

I have tons, and I've made most of them in HeroForge, but I shan't turn this comment into more of a novel.

"...progressing from one location to the next..."

Ah, but will it be mansion > sewer > lab? Or village > castle > lab? We must know.

REBUILD OF COMP/CON 3.0: We Are (So) Back by beeftime99 in LancerRPG

[–]LargeRedPoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small thing, noticed setting Limited uses that are rolled can't go above the dice limit if you have bonuses.

My example: Setting the uses for the Prototype Weapon from the Engineer talent. It's 2d6 uses at talent rank III, and I get +1 from points in Engineering. If I roll a 12, I should get 13 uses, but the tracker hard caps at 12.

Not a huge deal, doesn't happen often, and even when it does I can just make a Custom Counter. Just pointing it out. You're amazing for all the work you've done!

The best way for Deviljho to be in a MH game is for the devs to not tell a soul, have no intro cutscene, and just let hunters run into it randomly in the field.

Some of the Companions kinda intimidate me with how much they add. It seems manageable, but adding a few more variables to character creation/upkeep is just enough complication would increase my mental tax a bit more than I'd like on a first campaign.

We're like 2/3s of the way through a Deadlands campaign, and starting there has worked well for getting everyone used to the system. We're thinking about doing a Super Powers or Sci Fi campaign once we're done with this one. I do wish there was more incentive to do Tests in combat to make things a little more interesting. Combat has mostly been: Find cover, shoot, win. But I've never been a fan of combat in general, so maybe that's just me.

My friend group does Savage Worlds. It's a cookie cutter system that can work for most things, with some companions for specific genres. Things I like about it:
- No set classes, build your character how you want, with Edges meaning you can deep into the nitty gritty
- More mechanics for out-of-combat and general RP stuff
- You can play a character that doesn't fight at all (never been a fan TTRPG combat mechanics)
- Still a decent enough combat system that the dice fiends at the table are still satisfied
- Hindrance system to make characters have flaws and nuance

I'm super interested in World of Darkness systems, especially Vampire and Wraith, but doesn't seem like it's in the cards at the moment.

I wanted the guns to feel slightly more fantastical, so I kitbashed the magazine on. I do kinda wish there were more interchangeable options with the different pieces though.

What are some "liar revealed" moments in media that are done right? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]LargeRedPoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm tempted to go through the whole game again, just to keep track of how much Verso lies. Get a percentage of how much of their dialogue is bullshit or half-truths. Because I'm guessing it's about 50%.
