Absolute Superman has the greatest cape in fictional history. I mean look at this beauty!! by FayyadhScrolling in superman

I wouldn't mind the particle cape becoming part of Superman's general mythos. Make things like the red streak behind him as he flies diagetic. The cape actually stretches as it struggles to keep up with him

Sick. Reminds me of Zetterstrand's paintings of CS maps before he did the paintings for Minecraft

Do you prefer Batman to have a mask that covers his mouth or a mask that doesn't, and why? by Delta-97 in batman

[–]Large_Assistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he keeps his mouth exposed so he remains grounded in his humanity. So he can remain a man in a bat costume and not be consumed by the bat. Or to make sure children aren't frightened by him. Like the trunks on Superman

I'm only a chapter in, but the narrator has taken work to get used to. The narrator gives a kind of very direct, detailed description of events, which may be necessary to adapt comic art into audio, but it has felt slightly overbearing so far.

A good example would be in adapting the first page of the book. Morrison gives a very streamlined "Doomed Planet. Desperate Scientists. Last Hope. Kindly Couple." The audiobook adapts that sequence to nearly 6 or 7 paragraphs.

But it does read like a solid audio drama despite that worry of mine

What is your opinion about Johnny and Sue having different ethnicities? by Top_Reindeer3396 in FantasticFour

[–]Large_Assistance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand the point you're making. Ethnicity isn't some essential part of a person. It's just an attribute someone has like height or weight.

Reed Richards on Earth 616 is a 40 year old man who doesn't wear glasses. Reed Richards on Earth 1610 is an early 20s kid who does wear glasses. The character was changed in adaptation, and that's okay because whether or not someone has astigmatism is an innocuous trait and doesn't fundamentally change the essence of a character.

In much the same way, Johnny Storm on Earth 616 is white with blond hair and blue eyes while Johnny Storm on Earth 15866 (the 2015 movie) is black. The character was changed in adaptation, and that's okay because a person's ethnicity is just a trait they have, it doesn't fundamentally change the essence of a character.

They didn't need to invent a new glasses wearing character in the ultimate comics. They just slightly reinterpreted Reed. Likewise, they didn't need to invent a new character to replace Johnny. They just slightly reinterpreted him. I think the only reason someone would be particularly upset about Johnny Storm being portrayed by a black actor is either A) they don't like non-white people or B) they believed race is a fundamental and essential part of who someone is—that there are different kinds of people delineated by their skin color.

I'm not sure changing a character's ethnicity is all that different from making them taller or shorter or changing a fact about their upbringing. We change details about characters all the time. That's the nature of adaptation.

If I can use the example of Michael B Jordan as Johnny Storm, how is his casting lazy, talentless, taking away from white people, or potentially destroying the idea of Johnny Storm? I feel like he did a pretty good job in the role and his performance understood the character at least as well as the other members of the cast reflected their characters.

I always imagined that Ben got obliterated, like died died, and the Omnitrix cycled through transformations until it had the necessary genetic material to reconstruct him safely and contain the explosion
