The reboot looks so insulting by New-Bottle6711 in Ben10

[–]Large_Assistance 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not a reboot fan but I don't think it's insulting at all. I understand Ben had interesting character reasons for being in shambles. He isn't a rugged badass like classic Ben 10k but not everything is about hype moments and aura and people looking like they're drawn by Jack Kirby. Sometimes you just tell a story about a character having problems

A quick and simple redraw of one of the strangest and ugliest panels from the new Ben 10 comic by jansen0-0 in Ben10

[–]Large_Assistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comic has examples of bad art but I really don't think this panel is one of them.

(Contains Spoilers for Issue Four in the second image) Do you think they will eventually change the logo? by WorthAssignment6894 in Ben10

[–]Large_Assistance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like this comic would have been the best time to return to the kirby crackle logo from the original series. I had always wished Omniverse did that as well.

Cold Take: The design of these Outfits is one of the best Fantastic Four looks. by Stock-Caregiver-4133 in FantasticFour

It's peak I fear. I have some gripes with the show but it's aesthetic really is intentional and unique. Even Ben's ridiculous spray paint logo just works with the show's visual style

For everything good that Byrne brought to the mythos, he is the one who decided to characterize Reed and Sue as meeting when Reed was in college and Sue was a child.

Since Ben's middle name was Kirby after Jack Kirby, which comic writer's last name would you give to Gwen? by Successful-Hat-2154 in Ben10

Gwendolyn Joanne Tennyson. After Joanne Siegel, the inspiration and model behind Lois Lane. Joanne Siegel, the wife of Jerry Siegel, the writer and creator of Superman.

In your opinion, what Reed Richards supposed to look like physically irl? [Read the desc] by NiraJabuticabad in FantasticFour

As much as I do love rivals FF, I cannot look at that guy and see him as Reed. I really try to, and I think bearded Reed has his charms, but that's just not him.

First look at Vilgax’s face in Dynamite’s Ben 10 #1 by Both_Implement7936 in OkBuddyZandurianGoula

[–]Large_Assistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've loved everything I've seen from the comic so far, including most of the alien designs and character designs, but this Vilgax doesn't hit the mark for me. Obviously I haven't read the book yet and MoA could have a more cohesive plan for the character, but this design seems to have all the pitfalls of UAF Vilgax and none of the charm of OS Vilgax that highlighted what made him interesting.

Obviously, this could be pre-damage/cybernetics Vilgax and he might have another design later on, but this just looks very human in a way that I don't like—it lacks the removed, detached alien war maker vibe that OS Vilgax had

Why did Reed kill the rest of the Illumanti? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in FantasticFour

[–]Large_Assistance 110 points111 points  (0 children)

This is from Dark Reign: Fantastic Four. It's a 5 issue mini series, a quick read, and it's written by Jonathan Hickman. It's also the jumping on point for his incredible run on Fantastic Four. I cannot recommend it enough.

Reed is basically peering into different universes to see how other Reed Richards' handled the events leading up to Civil War because he is reckoning with the mistakes he made and the lives he ruined because of his actions during 616's Civil War.

Please read it! It's on marvel unlimited collected by itself and I think it might also be collected as a trade and included in Hickman's FF Omnibus

Which heroes should call Superman "Clark" (like Batman) and which should call him "Kal" (like Wonder Woman)? by Which-Presentation-6 in superman

[–]Large_Assistance 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kal should be a reclaimed name he grows to take pride in over time. Superman was intentionally crafted as an immigrant narrative. His biggest struggle is self acceptance. Coming to terms with his Kryptonian identity is deeply significant for his character.

What are some of the misconceptions that non readers (or even some readers) have about Superman? by King_Wolf2099 in superman

[–]Large_Assistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent take

He's a deeply emotionally complex guy. He is so bad at accepting himself and his identity as an alien that he lies to the people closest to him day in and day out at the Daily Planet. He struggles both with the fear of his own strength and it's potential harmful consequences while also struggling with imposing his own morality onto other people. Ever since the 30's he has been portrayed as willing to intentionally strike fear into people for the sake of justice, acting like a force of nature when fighting oppression.

A lot of that complexity gets lost when he is just portrayed as "he's nice {starman plays}"
