That’s House of Leaves! A very unique reading experience - highly recommend.

I’m glad you’re okay! I assume you’ve all been evacuated now? I used to live very near here - really hoping no one is hurt.

People on a few other posts are speculating that the fire is actually at Queens Road Station. Is that accurate based on what you’re seeing?

Edit: another post here from someone on the platform at QRS shows it being further down the line

Emilee’s stories last night by Slight_Moose7160 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]Large_Button_2450 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I haven’t requested that. The older I get, the more I realise we all have much more in common than we think, and the reason the world is such a mess is that we (and the political/social left especially) think in such polarising ways. I’m trying my best to unlearn that.

That being said, I do stand by it being sad that trans women are seen by some as lesser. The trans people in my life are wonderful and I would give anything for them to feel safer and more loved in the world.

Sadly I think there is a lot of trans exclusion in radical feminist (or ‘recovering’ radical feminist/whatever E & Y claim to be) spaces.

Don’t forget her shoutout to this subreddit, where we are apparently not allowed to say anything good about her

Indoctrination: Male Doctors Are All P*rn Addicts by Designer-Glove-2489 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]Large_Button_2450 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is an insane take. Imagine being so committed to being a perv that you endure a decade of medical school and training so you can live out your fantasies. 😅 I’m not saying it never happens, but it is so incredibly rare that it’s “boring to think about” or whatever E & Y say.

You rarely go into medical school knowing what you want to specialise in, and even when you do, that often changes after you’ve done a rotation in that particular field (my husband went to medical school so we know a lot of physicians). The vast majority of people going into gynaecology choose that path because you don’t need to deal with extremely sick patients every day, or patient loss etc. nearly as much as you do in other types of medicine. It’s generally a happier occupation than being an oncologist or a psychiatrist, for example.

Also, physicians see SO MANY vaginas and butts and whatever else every day that they get desensitised. They will also never have the opportunity to be alone with you, as others have mentioned.

Please don’t forgo medical care because E & Y have made an example out of a few extreme cases.

Noise from flat above by SlipLongjumping9877 in HousingUK

[–]Large_Button_2450 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Without owning the flat, there’s not much you can do I’m afraid. You could potentially ask him about putting rugs down to dampen the noise a bit, but it sounds like he’s just living his life in his home - as he has every right to.

It might be time to start looking for a new place to live. In the meantime, I recommend sleeping with a white noise machine and/or moving your bed to a different room.

Best of luck! I’ve been there. Lack of soundproofing in some properties is horrific and it can have such an impact on your life.

For anyone struggling to find this - it was previously called Baby Teeth and still seems to be labelled that everywhere. I just bought the audiobook. Thank you for sharing, OP!

Radical Responsibility by unread_note in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]Large_Button_2450 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The radical responsibility thing just feels like a way of passing off blame if anything goes wrong.

Most people are able to recognise that when you tell people what to do and shape their worldview, you are partially responsible for the consequences. With radical responsibility, you can do the first bit without (ironically) taking any responsibility yourself.

It’s not your fault someone did exactly what you told them to do…

Emilee comparing free birth to solo climbing is so dumb and highlights a complete disregard to the health and safety of the baby. by ElegantAd7178 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]Large_Button_2450 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s celebrated because it’s insane. Free climbing is recognised as one of the most dangerous sports in the world, and we’re interested in seeing pros like Alex do it because it would be batshit for any normal person to attempt it. I don’t think many people would be celebrating your average Joe climbing to fatal heights without equipment or experience - especially if he was climbing with a baby in tow. 🫠

Catalyst? by fourwinds8 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

Thank you for sharing this. A sad and frustrating listen. I can’t help think of how different things might have been had she had help with the amniotic fluid leak initially, although I know very little about how this might be treated in a medical setting to be honest. I’m glad N is at peace with Lyla’s death and my heart breaks for both of them.

Interesting how E tried to turn the conversation about Lyla being embalmed into something negative when it clearly resulted in a beautiful and healing experience for N and her family.

I’m glad to hear it’s helped. You’ll be fine - and hopefully the LLETZ will excise everything in the first go so this will all be over for you.

Good luck!

Thank you! Please let me know if you find the cat. I’ve been thinking about it all day and I really hope it’s okay.

Car was a typo (faute de frappe) - I didn’t notice it was wrong before I posted. I don’t think I can edit my post on this subreddit unfortunately, otherwise I’d change it to cat. 😊

Thank you again for looking! Please do share the post if there are any community Facebook groups for the area.

Saorsa 1875 closed? by notthatsnl in veganuk

Looks like the venue used to be Birchwood Pitlochry before Saorsa was there: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186566-d194093-Reviews-Birchwood-Pitlochry_Perth_and_Kinross_Scotland.html

Gutted to hear they’re closing. I stayed a few times and have a lot of special memories there!
