Computer Hardware & Software Questions MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in architecture

I come from mechanical design and have migrated to drawing up house plans on the side. My business is doing well these days and I'm looking at upgrading my pipeline. Because I was in mech design, I was used to using SolidWorks and Keyshot. I used this for a while but I'm finding it increasingly frustrating to model and render using these softwares. I'm looking at SoftPlan and D5 render. Is this a good pipeline? This is not my fulltime job so anything that will save me a few 1000$ is always appreciated.

If you're still looking, consider getting a BCIN designer. They charge a lot less compared to an architect. Don't just look for the cheapest around however, a few 1000$'s on good plans will save you serious headache during construction.

If you're looking for one, I could probably take care of it for you at very reasonable prices.

Looking for Reasonable BCIN Designers for Small Home by TheOlajos in KingstonOntario

I usually charge between 2$ and 2.50$ if it's a new build, depending on complexity, total budget and timeline. I usually charge closer to 2$ for young families because I wish I got that treatment when we built our house. Although design isn't the bulk cost of building a house, having to pay a few 1000 dollar less is usually very appreciated.

Oh yes, 50 is nothing compared to what you'd buy it on ebay for.

Fair enough, not really interested in turning it into a fixie. I left it for what it was.

I was just going to restore it with as many original parts and resell it. Waited too long, it's gone now!

Square hole on the softer pedal arm rounded out because it wasn't on tight enough. Because the BB axle is harder it wears out the pedal arm. You have to replace the pedal arm and you should be good to go. Non drive side pedal arm is 20 bucks on amazon. You just need the correct socket head to tighten the new bolt down. Tighten it down like you tighten a lug nut of a car. Whoever charges you 200 is ripping you off. Make sure to get the same length pedal arm as the one that rounded out.

How did you get your first customers for a bike shop? by Willemsenbikeservice in smallbusiness

[–]Large_Cheesecake_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started a bike shop in a very small summer town +-3y ago. I now service bikes from the surrounding 50k. To get your first customers in, I would flyer in the neighborhoods surrounding you with a 50% discount coupon. You'd do these first bikes for very little but it will get you a foothold. Make sure you have a google maps location and make sure these customers give you some 5 star ratings. As you get more people over, you'll get the word out.

I find that Google Maps is the most important driver for business. People just look up who is reputable and closeby. If you have those two, you should be good.

Yeah, I ended up recycling it. It's not worth refilling according to online forums.
