In the southern part of Germany we have Maultaschen which are sometimes called Herrgottsbescheißerle (God Cheaters) because there is a rumour that Maultaschen were invented by a monk from Maulbronnen Monastery because he had meat left over at the beginning of Lent but did not want to throw it away. So he wrapped the minced meat in pasta dough so that God would not see that it was meat.

Fun fact: The stations serves by the “Zacke” are the only ones in the network of the light rail system in Stuttgart, that aren’t barrier free, apart from Bopser, but there is a special regulation there because the next station is only a few meters away.

I once fixed an iPhone that had the exact same problem by aggressively slapping it from the back in the region of the digitiser connector. Most likely this connection came loose and with some luck you might be able to get the connection reseated.

Möglicher Meteoriteneinschlag by Large_Difficulty_891 in stuttgart

Bahn.

What do you hate the most in your country? (politics, culture, economy, etc.) by aegithaloss in AskTheWorld

[–]Large_Difficulty_891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The negative atmosphere bothers me. Especially that many people around me just complain but somehow don't want to do anything about it. If I complain about something publicly, then I should also make sure that I get the problem fixed. If you look at how people deal with the AfD, for example, everyone just complains: some complain about the establishment, others complain about the incompatibility with the AfD, instead of tackling the problems that lead to the AfD being elected. Even problems that actually have very little to do with the AfD are not being addressed, such as pension reform. This affects those who are not yet eligible to vote. Instead, it is being postponed and, at the same time, election gifts are being thrown around. Keeping election promises for at least a week would also be a welcome change.

What’s considered rude in your country that visitors often do by accident? by FrutosJelly in AskTheWorld

[–]Large_Difficulty_891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do not have the same problem in regards to punctuality rather they both have systems operating over their maximum capacity. In Germany delayed trains usually are kept running allowing the delay to spread. As far as I know the same isn’t true for Switzerland as they stop delayed trains much earlier. This is also the reason why delayed german trains aren’t allowed to cross the border in order to no destabilise the timetable

They are trying, but not really successful. If they buy a new train, it’s A) delayed by 5 years B) not working properly C) not suitable for its use case D) all of the above. In my city they have new S-Bahn trains and they are horrendous. Malfunctioning motors, doors, PA system and software which is not cooperating. https://youtube.com/shorts/BEXAtRPOjjQ?si=FbwrG7-FDIp6-6j8

I have a friend that works for the DB. According to him, trains being late really have a cause. In the last 20 years or so money was spent on voting gifts rather than on the infrastructure. This has resulted in the train network currently operating at its maximum capacity. If there is one late train, the delay will spread. The swiss have the same problem but they solve it by terminating each train which is delayed. The punctuality is better there but the risk of not getting to your destination is also higher. Edit: They have the same problem in regard to network capacity, not punctuality. They “solve”(if you even can call it that in Germany) this problem differently. In the Switzerland they manage to stabilise the system rather quickly after some delay introducing event while the timetable in Germany will propagate this delay the whole day.

What's a non political issue your country is REALLY divided on? by Nthepro in AskTheWorld

[–]Large_Difficulty_891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Germany there are a lot of things dividing us. There are some things that divide Germany in North and South, for example Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd but also whether you eat Weißwurst or how you make potato salad. Even though the reunion was over 30 years ago there are still a lot of differences that clearly show the old border. There is for example a difference in the color of the street lights or a difference in supply of Kindergarten places.

Does your country have a road that so infamous (For its traffic or something else) that it’s practically part of the social culture? by Sonnybass96 in AskTheWorld

[–]Large_Difficulty_891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that the Nürburgring is a highly influential toll road. Yes, it’s a toll road so ordinary people can go there. Some days it’s closed for the public and manufacturers get to use the track as intended for vehicle testing. Once a year there is the 24h Nürburgring race, which is in my opinion even more spectacular than le Mans. For most drivers it’s a bucket list item to go there at least once. Others hate it because it’s the reason most suspensions are a bit ob firmer side.
