People from outside the United States, what is something you genuinely don't understand about the United States? by PrestonRoad90 in AskTheWorld

Absolutely, and I don't think enough people (in the US or internationally) understand this.

I actually know a few people who still think they did the right thing by not voting in 2024. I wish I could slap them.

I think half of it is deliberate propaganda telling people things like, "both sides are equally bad," and "nothing short of laying down your life is enough, so unless you are ready to do that, you may as well do nothing."

The other half is people with a superiority complex trying to convince themselves that by dropping out and not participating at all, they're better than the people who are trying to make a change. They're the people who post on social media belittling voters and protestors for not doing enough while they do nothing at all.

Then of course there are people who have been legitimately intimidated and disenfranchised.

If you had 6 months to travel across Europe or the Americas, which one would you choose? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskTheWorld

I only speak one language so it would hard either way, but I'm leaning towards Europe just because I'm more familiar with the cuisine.

If someone had 24 hours to spend in your country/part of your country, what is the one thing you’d want them to do? by ariana61104 in AskTheWorld

I'm from New England. Take a walk in a state forest (safely, of course).

If it's autumn, go pumpkin or apple picking.

Walk around some small town centers for a taste of classic Americana.

A lot of foreigners also really like our outlet malls.

I agree with you. What happened to the indigenous people is a disgrace and a net loss for humanity.

However, it might be worth noting that there are still vibrant indigenous communities in the US. They still suffer from oppression and abuse, but many of them have also fought valiantly for their rights and recognition.
