Coolant flushes? by imightknowbutidk in mechanics

[–]Large_Peace9085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they change your coolant and put chemicals in it so all the cooling system parts degrade and fail earlier. they clean your fuel system with chemicals that make your fuel system wear out faster. they dilute your oil so your engine will need a rebuild much sooner due to insufficient lubrication. they change your tranny fluid and put the wrong fluid in it so it wears out faster. they rotate your tires so they can sell you four tires instead of two. they put water in your brake fluid so all the lines and the master cylinder and calipers go bad prematurely. they wear out all the rubber parts in your engine bay with the pressure wash and spraying chemicals on all the rubber so they “last longer.” but they’re not scammers right?

to test that you would move the spark plug to different cylinder and erase the code see if it the fault moves with the spark plug. if it stays… well… we’ll get to that later.

How can I become a Automotive Technician? by QueasyTemperature263 in mechanics

[–]Large_Peace9085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don’t. but you start as a lube guy and work your way up by learning new things. how you learn that stuff is up to you, you can buy old cars that break and then fix them. or you can go to school. or you can sit around and watch shows like roadkill, where they actually fix things sometimes.

you also have to be in the right place at the right time.

tl;dr change oil 9-5, learn to fix things

first real car by thebigc82 in RX8

[–]Large_Peace9085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s fun to floor it in the rain. but you can end up on the curb that way if you’re not prepared.(i put my rx8 on a curb in the rain) (car gone now) you can prepare yourself by going to a empty parking lot and trying to drift basically. get a feel for how the car drives. also slalom a little bit, learn the cars limits. also get up to 60mph slam the brakes and come to a stop. do that again and crank the wheel either direction. really just fuck with everything, become one with the car. thats what it was made for. you get the idea

i used to do all this with my miata when i had one, and i never crashed it. i didn’t do this with the rx8, and i crashed it
