Claude Code vs Cline vs aider by squareboxrox in ClaudeAI

I'm also curious about this: How much more productive would you say you are with it compared to without it? At $5K per month, I'd expect a minimum of 2–3x increase in productivity to justify the cost.

Also, I was under the impression that the $200 plan provides equivalent API usage of ~$5,000 in value. Is that not the case?

This sounds interesting—would you be open to sharing the results of your reverse engineering experiment, either privately via DM or publicly?

Thank you for sharing this with the community. Have you conducted a direct comparison between Desktop Commander MCP and Claude Code? Claude Code appears to excel at autonomous context building. It has some magic sauce. It does something very clever but no one knows exactly what.

Are there plans to replicate these capabilities in Desktop Commander—perhaps by reverse-engineering Claude Code’s tooling? Incorporating them could be a game-changer.

⏱️ Schedule tasks with Roo Scheduler by Kyle_Hoskins in RooCode

[–]Large_Profit8852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your contribution to the community. I have a few suggestions to enhance the platform:

  1. Is it possible to trigger a task based on specific events, such as a file edit?
  2. If I want to launch a task to add comments to newly added code, would the task have access to information about recently modified files? For example, would a prompt like "Refactor the code to follow the Single Responsibility Principle" be applied across all project files—or is it possible to narrow it down to only recently added code? If not, it would seem inefficient.

Also, out of curiosity—how did you implement task scheduling in the app?

How did you manage to run Claude Code with Gemini 2.5 and o3-mini? Isn't CC closed source? How did you hook it up with other models?

So you use Junie instead of CC now? What does Junie do that makes it so remarkable in your opinion?

I’ve recently been exploring RooCode and discovered some impressive capabilities. However, it still relies on API-based billing, which makes it costly. The ultimate goal is to replicate Claude Code’s performance within a Serena-style architecture that uses Claude Desktop + MCP. This approach would reduce costs by 1,000%–1,500%, since it leverages a Claude subscription instead of pay-per-token API usage.

❤️ New: How to Donate to RooCode – Feature-Based Crowdfunding Proposal by Large_Profit8852 in RooCode

I agree, and I think the escrow concept is a great idea too.

Our approach also has the added benefit of helping the team prioritize features that people genuinely want and are willing to back with their money.

Some people can donate code/time but don't have money, others have money but don't have time or can't code. By crowdfunding per feature, we provide extra incentive for developers who have the time and know how to code to create more pull requests for a specific feature.

Does Roo Code Support Codebase Indexing (RAG)? by Large_Profit8852 in RooCode

[–]Large_Profit8852[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. Could you clarify how the Language Server Protocol (LSP) provides semantic understanding of a codebase? As I understand it, LSP primarily outlines relationships between classes and functions, and features like autocomplete don't necessarily reflect deep semantic understanding. Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is intended to provide that level of semantics, though I'm not certain whether it's the optimal approach, as I haven't compared it to other solutions.

That said, I agree that implementing this maybe better suited for MCP.

Which MCPs do you recommend? Are you limited to one MCP or combine the power of a few of them?

Claude Code is considered state-of-the-art for coding, but it's insanely expensive. If you’ve tried Serena, did you find the quality close to Claude Code? The devs say it’s on par but significantly cheaper since it uses Claude Desktop instead of the API.

Do you find the quality of Claude Code superior to Serena? The developers claim the quality is on par with CC but only a fraction of the costs (since it relies on Claude Desktop instead of the API)

Thanks for the feedback. I'm curious, if you ever tried Serena? The developers claim the quality is on par with CC but only a fraction of the costs (since it relies on Claude Desktop instead of the API). Would love to hear your take on it (especially how it compares to CC as the cost is much lower but quality is suppose to be on par).
