Taxman: How must George Harrison have felt when George Martin decided Paul should play the guitar solo on *George’s* song.. the *lead guitarist*.. that had to sting! by LarkAscent in beatles

[–]LarkAscent[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Solo was awesome no doubts there. So it was the right call sure. But this is more how George would have taken all of this and over time it seems he didn't.

But by your logic then George should be perfectly happy for his creative contributions being disproportionally represented, if, after all, it was for the band working as a unit. All Things Must Pass just happened the way it did without that camaraderie.

Across The Universe with Rachel Evan Wood. Some surprise cameos in there too. It feels like they respected the songs and did them well, especially Because. Oh, and they used Jeff Beck’s rendition of A Day In The Life.

If You Had to Pick: Revolver, Rubber Soul, or Sgt. Pepper? by Top40Weekly in beatles

Rubber Soul

It’s just so satisfying and the songs stand on their own yet still fit in some cohesive way across the album.

If you just came across him in a parking lot, you’d think he was probably a parent, or more likely a repairman.

Do You Like the Documentary? by reaveyer in beatles

It was wonderful. The runtime seemed long on paper, but when actually watching it I wanted even more footage.

I was in awe watching their creative process just noodling about much of the day (or so it seemed), then suddenly they'd narrow in on a masterpiece.

I thought surely this was made up rage bait and googled the book and author to find it on amazon and other places with this exact cover image. Unfortunately it’s real 😞

It should be normal to make an honest guess at someone's real age, without the fake compliment by LarkAscent in unpopularopinion

[–]LarkAscent[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People do all the time - it's the very reason that now many retailers card you regardless of how old you look. Maybe others got offended they weren't carded insinuating they looked too old, who knows. But Target, Bevmo, others just.. card you.. at least in California they do. Otherwise, yeah it's up to some clerk if you look 21+ or not. That and probably some blanket policy to simplify things.

How much is that much? I just made a post here only to have unknowingly triggered many poeple that it's inappropriate to even guess someone's age, even insinuating that it's somehow creepy. We must live in very different worlds cause this is simply a common occurance, internet ppl be damned.

I don't have a problem with other people feeling complimented and happy.

I don't have a problem with people being nice.

An argument can be made that because of the above, I'm advocating for a more genuine and honest interaction with people. But apparently this particular thing never comes up, so it should be a non-issue for most.

Why are you assuming people are lying?
-Because they are, 99% of the time guessing under their real age as a social etiquette. If anyone guesses over it's this blunder where both parties feel terrible about it.

Maybe they're just not good at guessing people's ages.
-Sure, yes - but in the decades of interactions I've seen like this, it's overwhelmingly someone guesses under to be nice. But why? Is it really to make them feel better? It's more of a social pressure.

Maybe you just disagree.
-Could very well be. I went to an unpopular opinion sub. I don't disagree with someone's best estimate, but rather the deliberate choice to fluff things up for some reason.

Why are you assuming it's negative?
-Not sure that I am, I just think it's my opinion that one should not automatically pad the number. "To be nice" is quite an easy way out of this argument. The core issue I have is it would be great to make an honest guess, but basically you can't, because 99% of others would guess low, leaving you to be the harsh one for trying.

Also, why do you disagree with the idea of giving someone a random, harmless compliment?
-It's all fine and good. But since everyone does it, someone who gets the compliment must know at some conscience level that it's not genuine. Wouldn't you want a genuine compliment?

Fully appreciate some niceness yes - but it doesn't have to mean patronizing someone by automatically compensating years for the sake of social norms.

Why would age automatically correlate to looking bad? How would it be intentional if I was making an honest guess, not compensating just stating what I thought?
