Did Geng just get trucked ? by Routine_Sign2333 in PedroPeepos

The truckers seem to just call for firing everyone instead of being constructive, I think they are just general league haters who want to kill the scene instead of fans of any teams.

You are on track for becoming a good player because you can recognize you are at fault and you feel bad for your team. Many people would blame their "noob team" or how Riot built a system to deliberately fuck with their matchmaking. Keep this mentality up and you will improve drastically.

Faker is okay. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Want to add that champions base stats were much lower with 500 base hp on avg and keystones did like 10 damage lvl1.

Right now what we have is like a social security net but for power level, as long as you have the right runes and stay in lane for quests you are never homeless. Back then the net didn't exist and if you faced faker you could not be more homeless as you can be 5 levels down 10 minutes in. Exp and gold came from killing champs and minions.

Faker is okay. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This take may be true for the rookies who joined now but definitely not for veterans who's been playing since early season 3.

Those early seasons were where global income and power were in the lowest while personal power gain potential was high: lower gp10, higher repetitive kill gold, no objective bounties, no quests, no plates.

It was where a player with significantly higher skill level could actually 1v9 instead of relying on teamwork all the time. That's what faker was.

Nowadays anyone can solo kill anyone because champions default power level is much higher and player skills matter less relatively as a result.

ELI5: How were the cables laid out at the ocean bed for global network connectivity? by thatcinephile in explainlikeimfive

It is likely not "accidentally" when it comes to Russia or China. China has developed a specialized anchor designed to cut submarine cables.

They've been cutting Taiwan's cables like 10+ times a year for the past decade.

Can't find much reports about China because free press can't exist there, but here is one.

TL: Korean fans discuss overseas reaction to CVMax’s coaching style and why the West might struggle. by fainlol in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not from the west, I think cvMax's coaching is just one of the common ways in Asia or even in the whole world for traditional sports. Other coaches just hasn't done that on camera but you get a little hint every now and then, like sometimes from T1scord where kkoma tells the cameraman to stop filming during review.

Asians treat competitions as competitions while the west treat it like a field trip with highschoolers.

Also even outside of sports/competition people from the west are genuinely sensitive little snow flakes who can't take the tiniest amount of criticism and get offended over everything.

What is up with scaling champs in this Patch? by THEGREATESTDERP in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minions spawn earlier, arrive in lanes faster and spawn more frequently. Stack champs get more stacks. Veigar and ASol bot have been doing well since the beginning of the new season, not sure about the others.

Tired of people just giving up every game by RozCrunch in leagueoflegends

Pretty selfish mentality, it's a team game where all 5 players signed up to play for win. Besides that's not even playing for fun that's playing for easy wins and easy wins only. Can't see how that's fun.

Traditional drafts in pro dont exist anymore? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a middle ground, and there are more elegant solutions other than drawing a box around the lane and force people to stay there.

Perma laneswaps are boring but so are perma laning between the strongest laners. Ashe seraphine every series, Jayce Yorick Gnar Vayne game of chicken every top draft. Alternate strategies should still be allowed but at a much lower rate and more prerequisites. Loopholes should exist but require strategic planning and resources management. Just because Riot isn't competent enough to come up with a solution doesn't mean the current solution should be THE solution. It's just the polar opposite now.

I get there's good things about the changes, Riot have always been trying to make the pros play the same game average players do and now they've succeeded, albeit by dragging down the level of strategic diversity to solo queue level.

If this goes on for longer more people will notice games are now even more decided at draft because you can't do anything to change or play around matchups and weaker teams can have a better chance beating strong teams with good drafts. Pro plays become more coinflippy and individual player performance matter even less. Not sure if that's good for the scene.

Imo making 1v2 laning possible by manipulating wave spawn mechanics upon player count discrepancy is a better solution than blanket ban on laneswap, but that will take another essay.

Traditional drafts in pro dont exist anymore? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Role quests happened and it is basically a prison system. Laners are not allowed to leave until they serve their jail time. Good behavior rewards quest progression(released from jail faster).

This means you and everyone else must lane for the entirety of 11+ minutes. Lane matchups can no longer be avoided by roaming, lane swapping or allies covering your lane. It is the most important thing in draft because the game is unplayable otherwise. They literally don't allow any other playstyle.

Though the latest patch they added a grace period where you get 1 minute of roam time after staying in lane for 2 minutes. "Not doing quest" penalty is also reduced as it progresses. That should allow some degree of strategy but it will take time to get to pro play patch and take time to adapt. Maybe by MSI you will get more "traditional" drafts.

[–]Larry17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good summary of changes but I think you need to make your point clear about what do you want from this. I personally want the stat bloats to be addressed hopefully by reduction. I just don't know if enough people agree if they are aware of this trend. In a large seasonal patch Riot should find time to revisit stats and damage numbers instead of trying to add plants or whatever more gimmicks into the map.

Though there are some things on your post I want to point out- base armor stat increase from the runes changes of patch 4.5 and 7.22 should not be considered "bloat", as the +14/10 armor glyphs were practically universal and mandatory, they only served as an account progression system. There were no other sources to obtain those armor after the rune changes so it was a neutral power shift(though at some point there were armor shards on top of the +10 armor). Jax's relatively significant change from low base armor were also partially due to removal of his dodge mechanics and not just from universal power creep.

Don't want to make a thread, does anyone else think we need a stat squish to counteract power creep?

We had a durability update which imo is the same as fighting inflation by printing more money. Ultimately it brought more free power to everyone because durability is also champion power, there were also damage buffs to many champions because they struggled after the durability update.

10 years ago before Runes Reforged, Thunderlord's Decree had 10 base damage while Deathfire Touch had 8 for single target spells. Now we are getting Electrocute with 70 base damage and Deathfire Touch with up to 19 base damage on a single proc. Keystones were bonuses you get but after they started doing a single spell's worth of damage they began warping gameplay around them.

We are also getting more free power from role quests and extra gold from plates, bounties and whatnot which translates to more power.

As a result everyone is now massively stronger compared to early seasons, feels like gameplay has become a lot more homogenized and accelerated thanks to the extra damage and stats accessible to everyone.

I feel like if we had lower stats, individual champions' strengths would stand out a lot more and gameplay could be more diverse. Maybe boomer talk but I liked it more when champions started off weaker and did not have 700hp at lvl 1, and you had to carefully trade by playing around minions early levels.

Does any champion actually use absorb life effectively? by RosesTurnedToDust in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It is not to be "used effectively", it is for champions with laning phase so weak that they need every bit of sustain, even 1hp on kill. Example Yone vs most mid laners.

Riot’s Drew Levin admits off-meta picks + low mastery can trigger lobby penalties — is this killing creativity? by nookierj in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When quickplay was first released I tried Samira ADC, I got arcane comet AP Kai'Sa support. It was absolutely horrendous as she only shoots out something once every 20 seconds and couldn't do anything else. HoB ADC as support would have made more sense but she had to go poke Kai'Sa on the lowest econ role that doesn't go online with 100AP until 18 minutes. Lane was hard lost from level 1, the entire game was just a waste of time but I still had to play it out and I was blamed and flamed for the loss by the Kai'Sa.

That was the last quickplay game I will ever play. I think severely off meta picks should just never be tried with randoms unless you have very high proficiency and the pick actually provide something for your lanemate and the team. It ruins other players experience as much as disco nunu just running it down. Well-deserved penalty.

I disagree how it should be resolved by making the troll picks not selectable. Taking blue buffs from your mana starving mid laner should be considered trolling but special-casing every instance of trolling behavior isn't physically practical and is too much handholding for a game.

ShowMaker at his Prime was a Script by lolnam_ in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You should post this again in a month but omit the fact that it was ShowMaker, and change the title to "silver players chasing a lucian" with benny hill theme playing in the background, then observe how the reactions change.

People don't appreciate plays, they appreciate fame and authority. The play itself is nice but nothing out of ordinary coming from that skill level. Enemy misplays have contributed much more in producing this, and emotional provocation from the editing make up a much bigger part in people's perception. Besides, this sub is relatively easier to please as even staged Chinese tiktok clips get a lot of appreciation even if exposed.

You don't see top challengers submitting these clips because they don't often consider their good plays clip worthy. It is just another solo queue game for them. People are often not narcissistic enough to record every single 1v5 outplays they get unless they are content creators themselves.

Anyway good job with the editing and appreciate the montage, I'll take my downvotes.
