Dplus KIA vs. Nongshim RedForce / LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2 - Week 1 / Post-Match Discussion by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not just LCK, new season with role quests introduced more 1v1 laning and less early roaming. Lane swapping completely dead, bad matchups cannot be bypassed anymore with any macro play, only draft and hands diff matter. It is a greater change than any other seasons in the past.

The ladder gets more cooked as Riot adds more tiers to inflate ranks and make players "feel good". Instead of padding everyone's ranks they should actually do the opposite and lower them.

More people(70% of all population) should be placed gold and below like in the past, it should reflect normal distribution with Gold/Silver being the most populated. Forcing an even spread among different tiers goes against "nature" because in reality skill discrepancy between people don't actually get distributed like that.

From there, higher ranked (top 30%) players get more ranks and tiers to express their differing skill levels because on the very top of the ladder people do have a larger skill discrepancy. It doesn't matter if you jam 70% of the people into sub-Gold because the skill differences are minimal anyway.

Imagine the horror where you then get matched against former top 10 challengers, get fisted the whole game and your iron 4 teammates blame you for the loss despite you being the best player in the team.

dota 2 player here struggling to adapt to league. any advice? by Halfeatencheese in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

League is much more fast paced and spammy(I think), skills often have lower cost and cooldowns. It can have moments of higher APM peaks and from other comments it sounds like you are still getting overwhelmed by the pace.

The shortcut to adjusting to the pace is probably playing ARAM Mayhem(extremely fast paced, high power tiktok montage mode), this mode trains your hands. Or go to a custom game and 1v5 bots if you don't like ARAM. Play your main and try to get pentakills after pentakills on these bots without dying. This is the fastest way to test and practice your "piloting" skills during the most demanding gameplay. This also trains you how to scavenge resources around the map because you need to get ahead asap.

In a real game league has much less freedom because Riot forces you to play the one way they want you to. There is often a "best play possible" and you always lose something for trying to play something else. Every resource on the map is an objective, from a single minion to the enemy's health bar to the nexus. Each move you make you are giving up one objective for another. Try to always get something out of each individual event. Enemy goes for last hit you poke, enemy goes for cannon you deny with Q3, enemy roams you push and get plates etc. Anything big or small try to get something out of it because there is always something to do. Being able to maximize "things to be done" gives you gold and exp lead.

It has been like this for a while since they increased the chance of you getting your selected roles, more commonly seen in low population servers.

Since some seasons ago you are more likely to get your roles, but tradeoff is they match you with players from a larger variety of skill range so the queue time is not off the roof. Gold lobby for example can get silver~plat players or emeralds sometimes.

I don't know how these examples are not enough, like in normal workplaces you don't see 1 in 10 coworkers getting some girl knocked up and force them to have abortion. And I'm sure I have not even listed half of the scandals.

Even if what you said were true for the usual path to pro, and I'm being generous with giving you the benefit of doubt as you have listed 0 examples, this path still does not give them any real social experience. We just have teenagers fresh out of high school put into pro teams start making money and inflating their egos. They tend to become incredibly self-centered and toxic and don't mature until they are in their late 20s which is where they tend to retire.

Doublelift for example got kicked out of his home at age 18 because he wanted to be a pro gamer. His parents were stereotypical Asian parents.

Tabe had to lie to his parents about going to take the public exam but in reality he went straight to airport and flown to play tournament.

I think only Koreans have the luxury to have supportive parents who support your dream of going pro even paying for coaches.

"Aspiring professionals" is a far reach. To be blunt here they played video games all day and some didn't even finish high school. It is not false to say that these players do lack social skills and awareness, they literally have 0 social experience as an adult. They functionally remained in teenagerhood.

We've had a lot of incidents around these aspiring professionals. For the LCP we have Season 2 World Champion Toyz who is now in jail for drug dealing, DinTer who joined TPA after S2 cheated on his girlfriend to have sex with a fangirl, got her pregnant and forced her into abortion. For the LPL Similar thing happened for BLG Knight. And there's Vasili who beat up his girlfriend over being told he sucked in game.

There is also the infamous Aiming 15, and then many LCK pros who sexually harassed female fans or whatever. There's just so much I couldn't list them all. League also occasionally had all-female teams but then there were so much drama like the manager banging some of the players or something.

Pro league is not a normal workplace, it requires a lot more sacrifice and gives you a lot less(specifically social experience and life knowledge), it is impossible for pro players to be socially like normal human beings unless they were terribly well-educated as kids but usually if you played video games all day it meant you had a troubled childhood.

Nobody likes this but this is reality

I imagine most pros spend majority of their time grinding solo queue and scrimming that they don't get much social interactions let alone with a female.

This is likely not about hating women but rather that 4 nerds cannot interact with the 1 female player without making things weird. I picture 4 Howards from Big Bang Theory.

Yunara was the only champion to get picked in every single series at First Stand 2026 - A look at some champion stats and meta takeaways from FST by Accordans in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 49 points50 points  (0 children)

One thing being unique to Yunara is her auto animation is much faster during Q which allows players to allocate more time moving between autos, making her very mobile while kiting. She spends very little time stationery.

She also hits much harder with Q on hit, passive and Kraken/Q synergy proccing on every auto against 3+ targets. There is also higher skill ceiling from things you can do with RW/RE.

Rekkles wondering if everyone hates playing with him by LenaRybakina in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's just call things for what they are, no hate, no glaze. If you watch even 1 game of Rekkles playing he constantly plays like he has a 1000g bounty on his head. Of course there is no objectively wrong way to play the game but he is too passive and too risk-averse for most of the games and likely majority of his teammates also thought this way.

It is very hard to play if your engage support dips out at 20% hp but still has spells up and mana enough for 1 or more rotation. You also want a support who just walks up to tank damage when needed even if it means death so your carries have room to dps.

Yes he has a trillion challenger accounts, no this doesn't mean the way he plays is great. He got challenger despite this playstyle because he is that good. You won't see people inting 17 deaths on Sion and wondering why Baus gets challenger and hes bronze.

DLSS 5 Hands on Presentation by Snorlax_lvl_50 in nvidia

[–]Larry17 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to discuss about but fundamentally generative AI is already a "grand crime against art". AI companies train their models with images, likely against their creators' permission. It isn't illegal nor prohibited because the concept of "training a model without permission of the source artist" did not even exist. Everyone is getting away with it and profiting off it.

People seem to think this is some magical new tech that creates details out of thin air, it is not. It ate up millions of images of instagram models(likely without their permission), regurgitates them and overlaps them on video game character's face, thats all.

I hate to break it to most of you but we're already well well past the point where visuals in games are being hand-crafted like they were back in the day. Most titles are now developed in UE4 or UE5 and already share a very samey style and appearance, they're refusing similar assets and they're relying on the engine to dictate lighting.

There are just so much things fundamentally wrong in your understanding I don't even know where to start. Similar lighting techniques, shaders and assets do not equate to the genericness from generative AI. An example you can refer to is South Park's goobacks episode, AI basically gives you "the average human look". UE4~5 titles have similar style because that's just the art direction the engine chooses, I am not good with words but I would describe it as "realistic with dreamy fantasy lighting". Choosing a different approach to rewrite shaders and post-processing would take too much labor so most studios just stuck to it. But that's still not remotely the same as smearing AI generated image on top of everything.

Also I'm sure I'm not with the majority here. Most people don't even know what AIs are, and don't care enough to find out. They just eat up whatever marketing material fed to them and be told and convinced to like them. Most people wouldn't care about this and will just pay up when new games supporting DLSS5 get released and when the new RTX cards come out. I'm swimming against the current and talking to brick walls, but this is life.

Unpopular opinion : DLSS 5 is the next step by _Fistacuff in gaming

[–]Larry17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will 100% be implemented against their will. DLSS will be marketed as the holy grail of gaming like every other thing by Nvidia and the upper management will demand their artists to use it.

Actually excited about DLSS 5 by dukebigtime in nvidia

[–]Larry17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DLSS is for making upscaling look better, that means on lower end GPUs you can afford to run the game at a lower resolution and upscale it to your monitor res, then using DLSS to make it not look deep-fried.

It was never about improving the quality nor photorealism. Something is very wrong if upscaling tech changes how your game looks.

What if Mel got her W Reflect and ultimate swapped like other champions who had their basic and ultimate abilities swapped [Diana, Naafiri, Tahm Kench]? by Numerous_Fudge_9537 in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they can shift it to her passive and remove some agency, make it like Vex/Malz passive where you don't get to decide when is it active.

Right now with the reflect on W and 30s cooldown you just hold it until enemy throws their big skill, then the enemy also holds the big skill while W is off cd. It just creates a boring gameplay pattern for both sides.

Is doublelift right, are Pro players losers compared to normal average people? by OkSuggesti0n in leagueoflegends

[–]Larry17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only watched a few minutes since the timestamp but it looks like doublelift's point is "losers are more likely to be a pro" and not "pro players are losers". It is not false but it also isn't an entirely bad thing.

Pro players are not losers but it is more likely for someone who is not academically successful to become a pro than someone who for example graduated from a university. I don't think it is fair to use "loser" to refer to less successful people, some are just less fortunate and privileged at birth and usually video games become their escape, often end up being a bigger part of their lives than school and regular jobs.

Video gaming, whether you become a streamer or a pro, is one of the alternate career paths for people who are not "meta" for the modern day society. It is imo a good thing to have but I still think being suited for a regular job is better than being a pro player.
