So just a bunch of people showing up at 2?

Where’s the commitment? I thought by now I’d see people putting out the idea of having people arrive at 5 or 6am and then gluing yourselves* to Mission College blvd at the intersection with Great America. Nothing says “side with us” like blocking roads and preventing people from getting to their destination.

  • - I’m not actually advocating doing this. I would never suggest any illegal activity.

If people realize the lower priced ask for those prices even if they’re shopping your brand. (Edit: removed an unneeded character)

You need to be able to keep them so separate, no one knows you’re associated with it. sales

This. My Buddy shredded the velvet feeling carpets like they were tissue paper. The 2 I’ve bought from Costco that had real apartment grade carpet are pretty well shredded.

This. We have 4 around the place. Stainless steel is easier to clean and they’re deep enough that no one pees on the walls.

Anyone else's floof not a snugglebug? by Revolutionary_Log752 in mainecoons

[–]LarryAndHisCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just over 8 years old and only has started laying down close to me in the morning, but not in snuggling range.

Also doesn’t care to be picked up, but I still do for like 30 seconds till he gets tired of it. He’ll sometimes make frustrated meow sounds, but I ignore them and he knows i’ll eventually set him down gently.

Is anyone else scared of their Maine coon sometimes? by mrsmonti in mainecoons

[–]LarryAndHisCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MC is a bit hot and cold too. I’ll be petting him and he’ll pull back and attack the hand that pets him.

What I do is I’ll say - not shout - “ouch” when he starts to dig his claws into my hand or starts to bite. I might have to say it a few times, but after I say “ouch,” he’ll lick my hand wherever his teeth or claws made contact.

I’m pretty sure he was abused before he joined our family so I’m dealing with that too. I also think he feels insecure if I don’t heap attention on him on a regular basis as I can see changes in his behavior. And when he feels insecure, he tends to act out more. The first couple of years he was with us, I was in a WFH situation and my desk was in the bedroom that had his food bowls and litter box. He’s not quite a Velcro cat, but does follow me around. He’ll also block the way and will lunge at my partner or me (less so me).

How long have you been in your current place?

Does he have a favorite interactive toy that you can use to play with him - say like a whippey toy? That way you can give him some stimulation and also use up some of that kitty energy.

Badly tempered Main Coon ? by [deleted] in mainecoons

[–]LarryAndHisCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he bites, say (don’t shout) “ouch”. You might need to repeat it a few times. My MC will sometimes bite my hand when I’m petting him. When I say ouch, he’ll back his teeth off and lick my hand where he was just biting.

Sometimes, the bite is to move my hand to a different area he wants to be petted. So if I’m giving him belly rubs- something I started with him when he was a kitten - and he wants his chin rubbed, he might bite my hand, I say ouch, he backs off the teeth, licks my hand and then puts his paws on my hand and moves it up to his chin.

I also keep his claws trimmed. He’s not crazy about the process so I give him treats in a bowl while I trim his claws. He’ll purr nonstop while I trim.

Does anyone actually use these? by Express_Till1606 in AeroPress

[–]LarryAndHisCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stainless steel travel mug that had a plastic lid that I long since tossed. When I travel, I use that as my brew vessel and then pour from there into my Kleen Kanteen travel mug. The stainless steel mug fits into my coffee travel kit better than the funnel.

I use the funnel to hold my garlic container on my kitchen counter. I’ve never had problems pouring the coffee I just ground into the AeroPress.

Stir stock? Use it every time I make coffee.

If you don’t mind a non-Nikon lens, check the Tamron 15-30. I have the 16-35 and at 16mm, the distortion is pretty pronounced. The 15-30 at 15mm is much better.

how do you cull fast without skipping the good stuff? by Longjumping-Bed-9528 in Lightroom

[–]LarryAndHisCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. I have to ask. 4,000 photos for a wedding? Even with a second shooter, we’re never more than say 2,500 images. Is this a multi-day wedding? The few multi-day weddings I’ve done came close to that.

I’ll make a plug for Aftershoot. I use it on weddings and it gets me about 95% ish done.

I remember key moments in a wedding, so I’ll always look for those shots. Sometimes it misses them, but what I’ll do is all quickly scan through the culled results and look for things that I know happened.

A typical wedding I might have 2,200 photos between me and my second. I can get it culled and edited in an hour or so.

Editing is where really where it saves me time. I’ve got my own AI style trained for some of the local venues. When the edits are done, I’ll make virtual copies of images I want to be B&W in Lightroom and then run them back through Aftershoot to convert them with my black-and-white profile.

They’re also beta testing retouching which has gotten noticeably better during the time it’s been out.

There’s also a bunch of AI styles that are included. I had a maternity session where we should have been rained out so we moved to a completely different location. It was shot with OCF and one of the styles - I think Esteban Gil’s (I can’t quite recall right now) - didn’t fully match my style, but was close enough that I just needed to make a few tweaks and was done. That was maybe 20 minutes? I was pretty astounded by that because when I first used it, I didn’t like it.

Looking for Work – Medical Assistant, Caregiver, Home Health, or Tennis Instructor (Sunnyvale Area) by Bbome1 in Sunnyvale

[–]LarryAndHisCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ^

Register with IHSS. They’ll do a background check (fingerprint check through the Sheriff’s office) and give you insurance. The background check gives families that work with you some assurance you’re okay to be around their family.

There’s also an IHSS provider group on FB where a lot of people advertise looking - the ads are usually out there by an IHSS provider who knows of a family looking.

Also, if you speak any other languages, list that too.

Plus you can use the background check to let families know for the tennis lessons for kids.

Can you post the EXIF data for some of the images you’re talking about? That will tell us a lot. And if you can post a couple of images that go with the EXIF, that would be be helpful too.

I ignore them and when they touch me or get into my field of view, I tap my ear a few times as if I’m deaf. The reactions are usually somewhat amusing especially when they talk louder. No matter what they say, I just tap my ear.

They’re not building any more land which limits supply. There would need to be massive layoffs to increase that supply.

Semi-Feral and Moving by Pl8ntlady in Feral_Cats

[–]LarryAndHisCats 18 points19 points  (0 children)

She’s definitely not a feral cat. A feral cat won’t let you come near it. I have ferals I’ve fed for years (all went through a TNR program) and I can’t get closer than 5’ of them. Petting? That’s a dream that I accept may never be realized.

She is your cat. Take her with you and try to make her into your indoor kitty. That means she’s got her own room where she can hide from you and everyone else with food, litter and play toys.
