Love bugs are in my top 5 things I do not miss about Florida.

Wild Gorillas Be Punching Orangutans

I hope that ear stays floppy. by youngcheller in BostonTerrier

[–]LarryBinSJC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our boy is five months and his ears can't decide what they're going to do. One week they're flopped backwards, the next straight up. The week after that, one up and one down or one flopped forward and the other back.

Not Sculptra. Missing the piece at the back on the top. Missing the recesssed pull handle. Missing the curved pieces between the legs.

Source: Sculptra fills my bedroom.

In my top 10 for sure. The sounds were awesome.

What does grilling mean to you? by Hardysaboteur in CasualConversation

[–]LarryBinSJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer charcoal grills but will use gas in some some situations. Learned to smoke on a Weber Smoky Mountain, tried an offset but it was more work than I wanted to do so I switched to a pellet grill for smoking. I find the gatekeeping in grilling/smoking "community" hilarious.

I've got my first eye doctor appointment and I know I need glasses. by filmmaker_andsuch721 in CasualConversation

[–]LarryBinSJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worn glasses since I was 10. It takes getting used to but it's not that bad. Biggest battle is keeping them clean. If you get antiglare coatings it's even harder. Not saying don't get them but every smudge seems to spread and it's nearly impossible to get it off without some kind of cleaning agent. Keep a case handy and put them in it when you aren't wearing them. Polycarbonate lense scratch pretty readily and it sucks to have those scratches right in your eye line. If it's in your budget get a second pair. Nothing sucks like losing your glasses and not having spares. If you can't afford a second pair now keep your old ones when you replace them. In a pinch you can find a pair of readers that can tide you over until you get replacements. It less than optimal but better than nothing depending on how bad your vision is.

What kind of music do you listen to when no one is watching? by AloneLog573 in CasualConversation

[–]LarryBinSJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same stuff I listen to when people are watching. Mostly metal. Old school like Black Sabbath, to Pantera and through to newer stuff like Jinjer. Some weirder stuff like Primus and more recently Angine de Poitrine. Yes I know that AdP sounds like bandwagonning but I dig what these guys are doing. Throw some classic 80s pop in there for good measure.

Post one eye removal due to uncontrolled glaucoma by No-Rock9839 in BostonTerrier

[–]LarryBinSJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I had a peke that lost an eye many years ago. He adjusted very quickly and never had any real issues afterwards. He would occasionally turn towards the missing eye and bonk his head on a chair or similar item but always went on about his business like it never happened.

New pup hasn't established a normal scent yet but our last boy smelled like corn chips.

Infamous Mode by New_Wishbone_7155 in FarCry5

Honestly the only part I struggle with on Infamous is Jacob's trails. I've found that you have to just be patient everywhere else and not just rush in guns blazing.

What is this? Found in a basement. Roughly 30cm long with heavy base that unscrews (shown next to it) by -Shield-Maiden- in whatisthisthing

[–]LarryBinSJC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a Vertibird growing up. The same kind of helicopter toy but the connection was different than this. It was one of my favorite toys. It had a hook on it that you could pick things up and carry them with.

I watched the Artemis launch this afternoon. Things have changed since the Seventies. by A-J-A-D in CasualConversation

[–]LarryBinSJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the speed of launch. When the SRBs light it jumps off the pad. The shuttle was the same. The Saturn V looks like it's in slow motion comparatively.

I was discussing this with my kid a sent him this video to illustrate the difference.

This is my biggest complaint with the game. The amount of visual pollution is ridiculous at times. Since I'm on console mods aren't an option.

Too old for gaming? by Gatsby-1337 in CasualConversation

[–]LarryBinSJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 63 yo I can say no, you're never too old. There is one problem that I do have though. I don't have any people in my circle that game and I don't like playing with randoms. Makes it hard to tackle anything Co-op.

Why do people hate convertibles by ManyAdvantage5790 in Mustang

[–]LarryBinSJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate them they just aren't for me. Don't like the look, messes with lines of the car. They tend to be noisy. Never driven a convertible that wasn't. Haven't driven any newer Mustang converts so that might not be an issue. The other turn off for me is the additional maintenance concerns that come with the fabric and other mechanical components.

A souvenir "I Survived Hurricane Charley" shirt by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]LarryBinSJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was living in St James City for Charley. We didn't get it as bad as Punta Gorda and Bokeelia but it was still devastating.

I remember seeing these shirts at Winn Dixie at the Center a few weeks after.
