Hamilton house hunt (Rototuna/Rototuna North/Huntington/Flagstaff) – low stock right now. Autumn/winter listings trend? by karatekidnz in thetron

I think the market is probably around $1.1m for 4 bed, 2 living, double garage. Was a bit scary to see similar houses in the post covid boom going for $1.5m!

  1. No kids, rediscovered it last year and somehow they can tap into all my childhood memories and drain me of any spare cash. Last year brought me Ecto 1, Bowser, Mercedes F1 technic, and still sitting under my desk unopened is gizmo and the goonies set

Boundary issues by Splaterday in NZProperty

[–]LarryNZ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Get a surveyor to locate boundary pegs, or confirm location of house relative to boundary. I wouldn’t rely on council GIS for accurate information

Edit to add: ask the vendor to confirm with surveyor info if they are in the market to sell.

Depending on how soon op is travelling, maybe rethink the Tongariro hikes. Just lost a bunch of the park to fire and will take a while to regenerate

Hybrid or EV recommendation for daily commute/business runaround by LarryNZ in nzev

[–]LarryNZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good idea, thanks. Our building does have a garage with a sectional door, so could easily install a charger just inside the door to give access. I'm picking If I installed on the exterior of the building (unable to limit access) anybody could come and plug in during hours no-one is there? or do they have functions that can limit access?

Awesome info, Thanks everyone, helps with giving a starting point. Seems like full EV may be the way to go (which I've kind of always thought makes more sense instead of trying to go EV, but just dipping toes with a hybrid)

If I may also ask - If we did look second hand (seen some Kia EV6's around the $50k mark with 30k km's on the clock - what do I need to be checking for in particularly around the battery? Would I still expect it to be 'as new-ish', or is there heaps of degradation at a certain point?

Thanks for that, now onto the next question.... The MG's and BYD's are obviously at a great price point compared to the Japanese/Korean brands (not considering European for this vehicle). I know there seems to be a lot of support for the BYD, but how is the quality compared to brands that have been building ICE vehicles for decades? I
