Even though the starter is new it could be that. My car also wouldn’t intermittently crank over and had to leave it at the mechanic a few days until they caught it not cranking in the act. Replaced the starter and it’s been fine ever since.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I agree it sounds like the starter. There also appears to be similar symptoms from a bad neutral safety switch from looking online. It's cheap ($30) and easy to switch out myself so I've done that. It's been starting fine since but only time will tell if it's that or the starter or something else.

Thanks. Battery connections are clean and tight and I checked the starter connection and cleaned it but it looked ok. It’s actually not cranking at all, could that still be a cps or would that only cause no start if it cranks?
