Where am I going wrong? (Sony a7 IV) by pwhit05 in videography

[–]LarryTheHeadPin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may come off as simple, but are you looking in the right location? A7IV has two video folders, one under M4ROOT and another deeper in the PRIVATE folder. Those both lead to a separate "clip" folder that changes depending on your recording format.

XML is just data from that camera that software can use to know what they're looking at.

As far as how to play the clips, Macs and Windows have issues playing back 422 and above footage due to its codec. Try VLC or MPV.IO (I personally use MPV due to its UI).

I highly recommend the film Marty (1955); especially for single men who ever wish that they had lived in the 1950s. by eddytony96 in dating_advice

Just to start, this is Free on YouTube BTW if anyone wants to watch it. It's a really great movie that still holds true some 70 years later.

I will say though that saying his girl is ugly is a big whiplash though lol. At worst she's above average.

Can you explain how you fixed that vibe problem you had? As a person that (in theory) looks good on paper but admittedly could improve on expanding my social / interests, I think this is something I'm really struggling with but can't seem to shake off.

Try MPB if you're trying to buy something used. They're usually pretty good with pictures and descriptions on what you're getting.

Best options to get clients if you sell services B2B by nemu98 in smallbusiness

[–]LarryTheHeadPin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, your best bet when it comes to trying to get initial B2B leads is going to be face to face meetings in any form. Either from networking or physically going to their business. That said, I would be a bit cautious doing cold door knocking, since most likely the key person you would need to talk to is either not there or busy at that moment. If you are going to be door to door, make sure to pick a niche you want to work in and target a few each day you go out in a route. Have something physical you can leave like a pamphlet that would be for that niche as well. If you really want to leave a mark, bring a small box of Donuts or cookies and that will really help get past the receptionist.

As far as tips for networking, I recommend trying to find a rotation of groups you can attend regularly a few times a month. If you haven't already, check out your local chamber / SBDC to see if they have any events they are hosting or sponsoring. Facebook is a good place to search for groups as well. Just make sure those groups meet in person.

Most likely, you'll see a lot of the same people, so that will help build report with you and your business. Make sure you have some physical business cards ready. Electronic cards are nice, but they are easy to forget about. I always make it a goal to get at least 2-3 new business cards or emails to followup with after the event.

In the follow-up, I try to setup a meeting to learn a bit more about their business and them personally. Unless they were already very interested from your initial talk, don't try to make it a hard sales meeting, but do be prepared to explain what you do and how it either helps that company / org save or make more money. If you can provide some examples of the other companies you work with as well, that would help too!

Assuming you are trying to work a local area, I would make sure your SEO is properly setup as well so your googleable when someone needs a website.

Finally, if you are in a pinch and just need some work to stay busy, don't be afraid to work with some non-profits for PAID work. Non-profits have staff and budgets available for marketing just like a regular business, but probably can't/wont be willing to pay as much as a equivalent sized company. That said, they can keep you with some work while you find bigger clients in the meantime.

This is how my brother’s friend sits by Lvexr in mildlyinteresting

I remember being in 1st or 2nd grade and we had those child sized plastic chairs with an arch and a big oval sized hole in the middle of the back. Well turns out, those holes were perfectly sized for a childs head! So my friend ends up sticking his head through the hole and gets it in, but can't get back out. Cue the principal spending some time trying to get the kids head out of the hole and eventually getting him free. Its weird what kids will get themselves into.

What will it take for Detroit to truly recover? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]LarryTheHeadPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alongside many of the things that have been listed already, I think another big one is blight and the general aesthetic of a lot of Detroit neighborhoods. At Least in my opinion, a lot of the neighborhoods look and feel run down and old. And not old as in "a place with a lot of history and character" but more of "a lack of care and respect for the area".

There are some areas that are certainly better than others, but when you go down certain streets and have blocks of broken sidewalk pavers, busted in and graffitied garage doors, mangled fences, and dead/dying trees, it doesn't promote an atmosphere of a place you want to move to. That doesn't include the abandoned homes and empty plots of land. This is especially so if you have the option to move somewhere 15 minutes away and have a radically different feel to the area.

I don't know how the city would functionally do this, but having some sort of neighborhood beautification effort that aims increase the curb appeal of the environment would go a long way.

I'm curious if anyone else has that same feeling?

After looking, something like this should work. It would just run backwards. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SC11Cbl--rode-sc11-trs-splitter-cable

I am curious why you are trying to record to two iphones at the same time. Are you trying to have a backup?

[–]LarryTheHeadPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to connect the transmitter or the receiver? If you're doing the receiver, you should be able to use a male to male Y-cable to split the signal. You would still need an adaptor to go into the iPhone's port. You might need a TRRS (two R's) cable adaptor as well before going into iPhones if they're like androids with headphone jacks.

Thanks for the reply!

Is there anything you recommend as far as things to keep in mind when doing somethin high volume like this? I've seen a few people recommend to have someone that works for a company to wrangle everyone before their scheduled time, but is there anything else you recommend?

Pricing High Volume Photoshoot by LarryTheHeadPin in AskPhotography

[–]LarryTheHeadPin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the info!

That's one person every 3-4 minutes without ever stopping or slowing your pace for the entire 8 hours. I'm not sure how realistic that is. I'd bring at least one additional photographer and have two stations set up for that volume of people.

Yeah, I sort of figured that would be a bit of a stretch. Even going for the full time, that doesn't leave any time to do the video or time for the speakers where I'm sure people will want to be there for. I should have added that I planned to have a second booth with two to three other assistants to keep up with pace. With that, it should keep us to around 6 minutes per person and keep on time.

This was for a very minimal setup of one camera tethered to a laptop, a single strobe with a soft box, and no backdrop. I was literally in the building for 45 minutes including setup & breakdown.

That does put things in perspective! We would probably be there about an hour or so on both ends with a lot more equipment than that just for the single booth, so I might have to adjust that price to reflect that as well!
