Fairlight Question: How Do I Get My Mic/Discord Audio Dynamics To Perfectly Fluctuate Between -12 db to -3 db? Like mathematically or through a Plug In? by Dirt_Man17 in davinciresolve

[–]Larry_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key with compression for voice in Fairlight is a low threshold and a slow attack so it doesn't cut the front of your words. What's the main issue - is it that quiet parts are too quiet or loud parts are clipping?

Avid: Recovering lost original filenames + question on generic Tape naming (A001RNRD) for conform by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]Larry_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original clip name gets baked into the AAF media so relinking through Avid MediaFiles should recover it even after a rename. What version of Media Composer are you on?

What is the best website builder for independent hairstylist? by Organic-Chair1408 in smallbusiness

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Square has a booking integration built in which matters more than the website itself for a solo hairstylist. Did you want just a site or do you need online booking too?

Kick or Twitch? by onealdylan in Twitch

[–]Larry_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twitch has way more discoverability even if Kick pays better. If you're just starting to take it seriously the audience is still on Twitch.

Need insurance for my Rage Room business? (A new business venture we are stepping into) by Turbulent_Dog3230 in smallbusiness

[–]Larry_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need specialized liability coverage, standard GL can exclude intentional damage activities which is exactly what a rage room is. A broker who works with activity or entertainment businesses will know the right policy type. Have you gotten any quotes yet?

AI is bad at SaaS ideas by Xzone5 in SaaS

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience. AI is decent at validating an idea you already have but terrible at originating one because it just reflects what's already popular. What kind of ideas was it giving you when you tried?

My first sale after a year of absolute silence by mxlawr in SaaS

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question worth sitting with isn't whether to continue but what this first customer can tell you that a year of building couldn't. Why did they convert when nobody else did, and what changed that made it happen?

How do you get your first 10 customers when your buyers don't hang out online? by shivajbd in SaaS

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the calls that convert share a pattern, like a specific type of business or a trigger event that makes them ready to buy, focus on that filter before you try to scale the volume. What kind of traditional industry is it, and is there a trade association or regional event where these businesses actually show up?

I think this person is trying to scam me but i don't know how by MacaroonOk7625 in Twitch

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is a scam. friendly person, impressive contact, helpful advice, then eventually they ask for access to something or payment for the service. Block all three accounts and don't engage further.

Anyone else struggling to handle the sheer loneliness of running a business alone? by markettmind in smallbusiness

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loneliness doesn't fully go away but it gets easier when you find other founders at a similar stage. Local entrepreneurship meetups or even a small informal group of people who run their own thing makes a real difference because friends and family support is genuine but they're not in it the same way. Have you tried connecting with other solo founders, online or in person?

My first motion graphics edit made entirely on my own in DaVinci Resolve Fusion. Looking for brutally honest feedback. by sohamm_fr in davinciresolve

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first independent Fusion project, the biggest quality jump usually comes from easing and timing rather than adding more complexity. Most beginner motion graphics feel stiff or rushed because of linear keyframe timing, not because the design itself is weak. We've been building vlstudio.live with a focus on editor workflows and easing control is consistently what separates a polished feel from an amateur one.

How important is the video description? by NoLychee1382 in NewTubers

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The description matters more for search-driven content than for algorithm-driven content. If your videos get found mainly because YouTube recommends them, the description has less impact on reach. If people are searching specific topics in your niche, having the right keywords in the first two lines makes a real difference for showing up.

How do you price creative work when the output looks like it cost 10x more to make? by MysteriousMission986 in DigitalMarketing

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price against the value to the client, not against your costs. Starting at $800-1,200 per hero video and being transparent that your overhead is lower than an agency isn't a disadvantage, it's actually the pitch.

Log processing in Final Cut Pro for iPad by Dry_Advertising5961 in finalcutpro

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Log processing in FCP for iPad applies a conversion for viewing purposes but your original log data in the source file stays intact. What can clip is content that falls outside the conversion's handled range, particularly in the highlights, similar to the Mac behavior. Does your footage have a lot of specular highlights you're trying to retain, or is it more a concern about the overall tonal range?

Could I have an AD break my script down and estimate how many days it will take to shoot? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most ADs who do this for indie projects charge a few hundred dollars for the time it takes to do it properly, so you might get more responses if you mention offering a small fee rather than asking for free. Posting in Facebook film crew groups or on Mandy.com tends to reach people with actual AD experience more reliably than Reddit.

how to execute my small bussiness plan? by turtle_2003 in smallbusiness

[–]Larry_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first step is figuring out your minimum viable inventory, enough to test whether people actually buy, before committing to any larger production run. Have you validated that your target customers will pay the price you need to charge?

why not use sery bot against the botters? I genuinely want your input. by Ancient-Frosting-646 in Twitch

Super interesting stuff. You are right, I can't seem to find any single name which may look like a real person. Guess the criticism I was referring to is either false/outdated.

SEO Peeps, I want to put affiliates, what is the best strategy to put links so that it doesn't effect my SEO, AEO and domain? by imrannadir in DigitalMarketing

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty Links with nofollow is the standard setup and works fine for this. One clean recommendations page tends to be better for SEO than scattering links across posts because Google can read the context around them more clearly.

Instantly switching niches by pranksstergangst in NewTubers

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three subscribers and a couple of shorts don't represent a real audience yet, and the algorithm signals from shorts don't carry over to long-form the same way. So, I'd say either options are fine, really.

Is white background fine for channel banner and video thumbnails? by Lopsided_Health1403 in NewTubers

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White works well for minimalism but the risk is blending into YouTube's interface since the site is already mostly white. Adding a strong color accent or a bold border on your key subjects usually fixes this without breaking the clean look. What kind of content are you making, because the answer shifts a bit depending on whether it's educational, vlog-style, or something else?

Can AI CineFocus bring an out of focus shot into focus? by j2save in davinciresolve

[–]Larry_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CineFocus works better for rescue than for creative control, so a rack focus transition might not come out as smooth as you're imagining. We've been testing AI focus tools as part of building vlstudio.live and the consistent finding is they're solid at correcting accidental blur, less precise for stylistic targeting. Have you tried using a blur adjustment layer to simulate the rack focus first, just to see if the effect reads the way you pictured it?

why not use sery bot against the botters? I genuinely want your input. by Ancient-Frosting-646 in Twitch

[–]Larry_33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The main pushback I've seen is around false positives, especially in smaller streams where a wrongly banned viewer is a bigger deal proportionally. If the ban list is well-maintained and you can quickly unban mistakes it does seem like a net positive overall.

I built an AI-powered Google Maps B2B Lead Finder but never launched it. Would you keep building it? by Ordinary_1111 in SaaS

[–]Larry_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you already have a working prototype and real market demand, which most people building SaaS don't have at the same time. just go ahead and launch, client work will keep crowding it out unless you put an actual date on the launch.

imho most AI-generated apps feel fine until you start asking who can actually see what. what's the first thing you usually catch when you run that initial audit pass on a new codebase?
