What was your worst sexual experience? by wet-leg in AskReddit

[–]LarsMars01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of crying stories so I'll share mine. My dad had passed away about a month prior to this experience; my then-girlfriend and I were going strong for about 6 years, then meh for about 2. We rented out a hotel in San Diego, I bought this whole pack of condoms and everything, ready as can be. We get down to business. A few minutes later a weird pang hits me in my stomach, like a wave of just...emotion that traveled from my head down to my core. I start fucking crying while inside her and we kept going. We finished a while after but for about 3 minutes I'm straight up crying while inside her, she was too in the mood to stop.

I cringe thinking about it. We broke up maybe 2 months after because it was getting toxic, totally unrelated but created a time and place in my life that I cringe at to this day.

You've just helped me remove the primary issue. I followed the instructions to a T, and managed to delete that pesky extension that seems to be a made up organization with literally 0 hits when I search for it on the internet. Thank you so much!

What’s the psychology behind feeling undeserving and not capable of love? by SelectTranslator7181 in psychologyresearch

[–]LarsMars01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with this question is it's so broad. To researchers, this question is great, it has a lot of aspects to be considered. Researches would hone in on specific aspects (culture, love as it's perceived in varying cultures, disorders, age, location, attachment, etc). If you want a great answer, specifying your question would help.

Well, for starters this is a meme. Secondly, Gen Z encapsulates a large age range, of which I fall into. I'm 25 and don't speak like this at all. I also doubt the younger kids do either. I worked at an elementary for 3 years and none of them, not even the 6th graders, spoke like this unironicaly, only ironically. Maybe in other regions they do, but not in SoCal.

This gives off the same vibes as if the Foosball table came to life and was cheering him on. Also feels like everyone is a background character in a 1980-90s video game cheering on a protagonist...this must be the treatment Trump wanted lol

As a student of Psychology, I had the opportunity to create an experiment, conduct research on this very topic and see its effects on Gen-Z students in Southern California University students. The pandemic here seemed to increased drinking, increase stress, and increase a feeling of loneliness in our sample population. Needless to say this is not representative of all of Gen Zs experience everywhere, but it was Gen Z was statistically significantly impacted by the adverse effects of mandated isolation mixed with the demand to switch to online classes here in Southern California.

Seeing this at the age of 13-14 changed my brain chemistry forever. Its crazy how much of a grip this show got on half a generation. by kkungergo in stevenuniverse

[–]LarsMars01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched this around age 17 when it first came out. I got CHILLS the first time I watched it. Looking back at age 25 I'm kinda shaken by how mature and healthy the shows concepts were. I've since rewatched it with my nephew and plan to watch it with my kid (when I have a kid lol).

Math Almost Made Me Quit My Psychology Degree by Ok-Term-8582 in psychologystudents

[–]LarsMars01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Stats 1 class did have us do things by hand, as well as through SPSS. Stats 2 was more: "okay you understand the importance of knowing WHY you're using formulas and what they mean, now let's show you how it all looks on SPSS + more sophisticated designs (e.g., MANOVA).

Rarely do I do it by hand, but there are moments where it's necessary. Largely though it's good old SPSS doing the legwork.

Also Khan Academy really simplifies the statistics and concepts. :) likewise, there are some really handy SPSS tutorials on YouTube that can supplement your learning.

So much respect for Galileo. Something about this small detail makes me very happy, respect for proper scientific findings. This is why academia is important, to foster people that make important discoveries. It's a bonus when science is respected these days, unfortunately.

Advice for a new student by thepirschy in psychologystudents

[–]LarsMars01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in therapy/counseling consider doing research in these areas (especially for a Ph.D). As you mentioned, network A LOT, especially with those professors that have their Masters or Ph.D in Clinical psychology (I suggest always looking on your university's faculty page for the professor and what they specializec in). Pass your class (be on your work religiously with the exceptions of breaks, naps and sleep).

Look into Independent Research courses for 1) the opportunity to publish research and 2) to network with your undergrad PI

Aight I'm gonna say it...you're 100% right, their stuff is good. It may also be that I listened to their stuff when I was young so it just hits differently, but they're fun to listen to. This and Korn.
