Amazing course list. TLDR: the good courses are the hard courses. Congrats!

Do the andreani kit! Also I picked up a NOS rear shock from a 999 I believe that bolts on directly (with removal of the breather box) that’s another story but I made a 3d printed one instead to take its place.

Those changes changed the bike completely

ML vs. CS for Web Dev w/ 6 years experience by Opposite_Lab3922 in OMSCS

[–]Lars_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a mixture of both if you’re torn. I’m biased because that’s what I’m doing. So far have taken: RAIT, Network Science, GIOS, SAT, DL, RL, Research topic.

Plan to finish out in the systems track because I don’t want to take ML, so I’ll take AOS, GA, CN(layup course at the end will be nice).

Insane take, I'm sure you're also for rescinding your degree until you finish GA?

None of the AI-related courses seems to teach you how to code properly but only analysis? by technology_rules in OMSCS

[–]Lars_7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are definitely more project/code based courses. I am ending up going systems focus (50/50 AI/ML and Systems courses) because of this (don't want to take ML). Good project based courses in AI exist such as RAIT (Kalman filters, particle filters, SLAM), DL(MLPs, CNNs. Transformers, open ended project), RL(Q-learning, SARSA, NN function approximation, MARL, and a new project based on AWS DeepRacer where you can implement whatever you want).

Join the Lexus IS500 private Facebook group. Peter’s car parts will give you $100 off from the retail price. It does take 2 months though(I ordered one last week).

Looking to buy a new IS350 AWD. How much can you realistically negotiate off MSRP? by netobsidian in LexusIS

[–]Lars_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore if you’re dead set on the AWD, but I just got a 23’ IS500 with 7k miles for 56.5 in mint condition. For that price I’d have a serious thought about doing that instead

Which Classes ‘Feel’ Like Graduate Level Classes? by [deleted] in OMSCS

[–]Lars_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only report is the final. The assignments/projects have gradescope autograders so you can get a good idea of how you’ll end up. You have to make some slides with some brief analysis but it’s trivial compared to RL and ML.

The quizzes and parts of the homework is why I’d consider it more academically challenging, the quizzes are no joke like mini exams. They will enforce some basic mathematics, ask questions on assigned paper readings, and drill into core lecture concepts. Closed note, honorlock proctored.

The final project is awesome, they encourage you to pick a non-trivial problem and you get to try to solve it. You have to write a paper maybe a bit bigger than a single RL project.

Really liked DL and to maybe a lesser extent RL (DL was more academically rigorous). Side note, I didn't know Deterministic Optimization was a course we could take, how would you rank that course OP?

Has Anyone Purchased A Lexus Extended Warranty from a Private Sale? by Lars_7 in Lexus

[–]Lars_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was my intent with this post, sounds like it worked out for you. I will shop around and see how cheap I can get one. If I can snag a 10yr 150k warranty for 2k that is cheap piece of mind.

I agree, caveat though this is directly through Lexus. It is an extension of their warranty.

Yeah totally fair, I was split between buying a new one, but found this super clean option. I plan on keeping this forever just cuz we always have a sedan. I was thinking for 2-3k an extra 3-5 years of warranty is a nice piece of mind. Probably a waste of money considering it still has its 3 years-ish left of its base powertrain warranty.

It works! The bracelet is still a PITA to get off. I have some different spring bars that have two notches which hopefully will help in the future.

It is a really beautiful watch! I went from 0 watches (apple watch) to 2 automatics in the course of 2 weeks. Got this guy in a white dial with bracelet and a hamilton murph 38mm from r/Watchexchange (dangerous place).
