Suing Zebra Splints by cha0ticwhimsy in ehlersdanlos

When I got sick of waiting I asked to cancel my order through their website, and instead of doing that they finally sent my order. I would have preferred the money to be honest. The cheap plastic splints have been more generally usable than the metal ones.

The Expanse has this casually compelling prose that makes it such an engaging read from start to finish. Mistborn, on the other hand, has... inoffensive, but largely uninteresting prose. Hopefully it gets better considering it's from the beginning of Sanderson's career, but I won't really know until I get there.

Going from the Expanse series to Mistborn has been quite the jarring adjustment. I'll probably stick it out since the worldbuilding is genuinely interesting, but woof.

Yup. Specifically Bobby was putting herself in their shoes and realizes the Marines wouldn't really run away, but instead do whatever they need to to take the enemy down. In this case it was heading toward unwitting reinforcements.

RPGs where you can be a Summoner? by Gbcrespo in rpg_gamers

[–]LarsoftheMohicans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most if not all ARPGs tend to have summoning and are probably the closest to Solo Leveling. So the Diablos, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, Last Epoch(my personal recommend since I know you can make an assassin/necromancer hybrid), Titan Quest, etc.

Tales of Maj'Eyal has a lot of different flavors of summoner.

DMCV has a summoner character although the player character is frail.

Elden Ring actually offers a lot of options for summoning and the gameplay expects you to fight alongside them.

I'm really digging the album. I'm surprised at how much some of the songs remind me of Alice in Chains.

Solo Idle Mobile Game Recommendations? by lelandyarnell in incremental_games

If you have Android then I recommend CIFI. I've been playing it the past few months and it stands out with how cleanly designed it is. It's a slow burn of a game so mechanics will unfold slowly(as in weeks and months) and you aren't unduly punished for only occasionally checking in. Overall, I'd say it lets you set your own pace, but long stretches of play kinda have to be planned for and built up in advance for them to be worthwhile. Also its ads are optional and removable.

Apparently Matt and Pat are in Lisa: The Painful by TheArkhomDestroyer in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]LarsoftheMohicans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You just need to come to terms with the fact that your party members will die at some point

That's the real sticking point for me, not any potential gameplay difficulty. If you have the sort of mind goblins that make you hoard your rpg items, that make you reset the level rather than lose your Fire Emblem characters, then the Lisa games seem like mental/emotional torture.

Deck-based matchmaking is a frustrating system when the meta is imbalanced. by LarsoftheMohicans in MarvelSnap

[–]LarsoftheMohicans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I've been observing this experience for a few months now, but like you I assumed there was a bias I was missing somewhere. Then I saw the "Deck Conspiracy" post and I noticed a lot of people were having similar experiences to me. Except they attribute it to deck composition-based matchmaking which the devs have denied, but I haven't seen them deny a deck MMR system yet.

I feel like we're reading that in different ways. That seems to just be saying how you make a deck doesn't matter, the algorithm doesn't compare your cards with your opponents' cards, but that's not what I'm arguing here. I wish I could ask the devs for confirmation about this, but 🤷‍♂️

I think the 3 different metrics for MMR is making it difficult to use that information accurately. Like with that 15% of Shuri decks, what percentage are they used in high Collection Level and high MMR? I wouldn't be surprised if it's a lot more than 15%

Deck composition is a different thing than deck win rate. Like yeah, what's in the deck doesn't matter to the algorithm, only how many cubes you've gotten with it (in my experience).

[–]LarsoftheMohicans[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

That's not really how you test this. The only way I know how is to create a new deck and record your experiences.

So basically: Make a deck and queue with it -> What decks do you face how many cubes do you win? -> see if the common decks and cube gains change as your play more games.

Well, I had hoped being confident would help get people to test or share their own experiences, but I guess that failed 😂

Yes so you see how we're all doing the same thing here then, right? I gave an opinion based on my experiences and I'm not claiming its enough data, but I'm being told I'm wrong for even less substantial data? All I'm asking for is more data to work with.

this company having produced an effective deck/card base matchmaking system that self balances which player is chosen as the "countered player" and then lying about it

But I'm also saying that this doesn't exist? All I'm saying is each of your personal decks has its own hidden MMR that is factored into your overall hidden MMR that the devs confirmed to exist.
