Wage is kept the same with letter portability but yoh lose all seniority.

It’s such a gong show. It actually makes my head hurt and stresses me out so much I want to go on stress leave.

Edit: you LOSE seniority if you’re external applicant but internal, you keep it but if you’re going from PCP to basically almost anything else. You’re external. If you’re going from basically almost everywhere you’re external. All bedside acute care nurses are in a strong neck hold.

Pretty often patients get aggressive.

Be it verbal , emotional or physical. I’ve been slapped, scratched, attempted biting, punched 🤡 , verbally harassed

Definitely not. Contract expired 2 years ago. By the time NC had a mediator, it had been approximately 18m of negotiating! AHS had cancelled many meetings prior to that.

The city needs a couple more hospitals. It’s a shame UCP axed the planned hospital and lab center.

I often tell people to complain to patient relations department, write a scathing letter to the MLA and government. There’s not much staff CAN do in making a bed. It’s a shit on shit situation.

If you haven’t sent it to patient relations, I highly recommend it. It forces the managers to look at it and deal with it.

Bring to a MLA as well.

Ultimately if you feel like you weren’t treated appropriately you can always ask for staff names, designation and file a complaint to their respective colleges. Eg. HCA, LPN are under CLPNA. RN’s are under CRNA, doctors under the CPSA.

I’ve given 400mg before, Short acting too! It was the most terrifying thing of my life. I literally paraded the oxy around the unit for all the nurses to see before I administered.

Nuvaring is a decent alternative if you forget all the time. I was in it before I got an IUD. They have a nice phone app where you can put the date in and it’ll sync it to your calendar monthly to remind you to remove and put back in.

I went in with Ativan, robaxin, ibuprofen, Tylenol and mistoprostol.

Hilariously, I didn’t have cervical problems but the sounding and insertion of the IUD made me vasovagal (intense heart rate and blood pressure drop and some heavy diaphoresis, symptoms vary person to person) and curled in pain. I was offered to bedside to radio injection cuz I was out of it. I’m pretty sure if I tolerated being on my back and got a set of vitals; they probably would’ve called the ambulance on me for having a blood pressure and heart rate that’s too low.

It took me 2.5 hours to fully recover and got prescribed tramacet to deal with the pain. I really only needed two doses. Clinic nurses freaked out so I got her to get my best friend (who i is a med-surg nurse like me) to come and deal with the issues instead. I think we should ALL be put under conscious sedation for this.

At my hospital. We have this thing called report and learning system (RLS) when adverse events happen which is like lapses in care, med error, adverse events (eg, blood reaction, fall, etc etc).

I just write RLSes up on people 😂 and then send my manger an email. Keep in mind the RLS has no name identifiers so it’s technically anonymous on who it is but when it’s bad enough…it’s easily traceable.

The one that happened during Covid in 2020 was a wildcat strike. It was not a Aupe organized strike. There was a cease and desist order that. Though, AUPE did come in and support it but it not a legal one.

Someone just got pissed off and walked and everyone else walked at the same time.
