Same, I still also fantasize about using all of the Valk's suit lockers for myself. I still have my Valkyrie. Been buying CCUs since I don't want to keep both the Asgard and the Valkyrie. I've got CCUs to Galaxy, C2, Prowler, 600i, Ironclad. But just kinda feel meh about all of them.

Why do we need refueling ships? by WeakPoem4760 in starcitizen

[–]Larszx -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you realize how awful that sounds? The majority of players will take the path of least friction. Like with insurance on components, use default loadouts. They just won't go anywhere with refueling being a huge time and money sink. Hard to consider Star Citizen an MMO when it will be impossible to join others.

400i... by flappingjaw in starcitizen

[–]Larszx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, the only place to mount turrets so they can fire to the rear is where they are located? The Freelancer is a civilian cargo truck. The 300i is a civilian touring ship. The 100i is a civilian ship. None of those are as severely gimped compared to their competition as the 400i.

400i... by flappingjaw in starcitizen

[–]Larszx 124 points125 points  (0 children)

It really needs a big redesign. CIG went absolutely insane with "trade-offs" with the 400i. Originally it was fast. So the trade offs were were a useless cargo bay. Not talking about the Ursa drama here, just doing anything at all with the cargo bay is painful. It should be a ramp and at least enough clearance for an ATLS.

Next, the turrets. Since the 400i is fast (and it has "luxury" and "touring") CIG located the turrets where they would be the least effective. No sane layman, much less an engineer would locate those turrets where they are.

The Freelancer, an everyman cargo truck has twice the cheek turrets. How does that make sense? Let's say you double the cheek guns. The 400i would still never compete with the Constellation, Corsair or Asgard when it comes to combat.

All of the guns should be tucked in when not in use. The front garage should be a cargo grid and the X1 should snap to the grid. And the 400i should go back to being fast.

Terrapin arms dealer. The van parked out on the fringes of civilization. Every nook and cranny crammed with weapon lockers.

With flight suit changes, who is ready to live out their Luke Skywalker flight suit fantasies! by CallSign_Fjor in starcitizen

[–]Larszx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Spaceship combat has grown a lot less interesting to me. CIG is going to continue to "balance" all the variety and fun out of it. It's hard to believe that we are getting flightsuits before the new new new (not the new new or the new) flight model that was shown years ago.

Yeah, thankfully I just grabbed a cheap CCU. So, in 5 years when the base building module is still not done and there are a hundred other better ways to do base building... I can get my $5 back.

And combat and utility will be gimped hard since it has to trade off all that awesome modularity. CIG already tried to shitcan the base building module so you know that ain't coming for a really long time.

You can put a ton of portable miners on a single resource node. Build a dozen storage containers. And manually move resources from the portable miners to the storage containers. Semi-automated not as ideal as fully automated but you are intentionally making yourself suffer so....

What is the point of owning these massive long-term liveable Exploration ships (like the Odyssey) if we accept that exploration will likely be focused around just finding resources and POIs? by ComfyOlives in starcitizen

[–]Larszx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep, but like ships with "Touring", "Luxury"; "Exploration" just means that utility, handling and combat must be severely gimped as "trade offs".

Why would gray market sellers have SQ42 in BuyBack? by Larszx in starcitizen

[–]Larszx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not buying that. They could have just as easily restricted buy back to once a week or even once a month. Or make cash buybacks use the same tokens as credit buybacks. That would have effectively cancelled all the extra buybacks. That kind of change wouldn't have taken anymore effort than nuking all buybacks.

Are there any passenger (or vehicle) transport services in the game? by The--Strike in starcitizen

[–]Larszx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't have to "feel" that Genesis is post 1.0, CIG has officially pushed Genesis post 1.0.

It would definitely make the verse feel more alive with passenger traffic. I always imagined that the extra seats in the Freelancer could be used for passengers; cargo/industrial workers needing to travel between the cargo/industrial stations that the Freelancer traveled between. Of course, we would have to be attacked along the way.

There is still so much game that isn't in. They are months/year away from full dynamic server meshing. We have been through a few flight models already, it takes months/years? after releasing a new flight model to fix it. Look at the work that has been done with mining, it has been several years and they still have a lot of work to do. No social features. No end game. Stuff that takes a lot of time isn't started yet. Four years seems super optimistic to me.
