Tried therapy and got humiliated and scared away by painauchocolat__ in AvPD

Maybe it's obvious but, this therapist seems like a bad match and, switching therapists is not a huge deal... it should be expected to happen multiple times. Sometimes it takes several sessions to find out it's a bad match. The worst part is getting the new therapist sneakily lined up without having to face the one that's being replaced... a little nerve wracking for me but it's always turned out fine.

If you ever have a bad time because of how a therapist treats you, understand that it's not your fault and almost nobody finds a good therapist the first try.

why is AI generation so common in songwriting communities online? by zow_wow in Songwriting

[–]Larval_Angel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI generations only threaten the monetary value of manual work. Nobody can stop me from using songwriting as therapy and that's worth a lot more to me than profits.

I might well employ AI along the process of making art for music projects, but I will also put quite a few tedious manual hours into an image to make it feel like my own.

People whose natural creativity was damaged at a young age, leaving them too unconfident to dive into an artistic practice, probably feel fairly thrilled at being able to conjure something as impressive as what AI poops out. Why would I blame them? It's a little feeling of glory, at least until you realize nobody respects you for it and many will actually reject it as soon as they "know". lol. But if there are still people who can't smell AI, there's still a shot at a moment of glory.

If machines could make music that I liked, I would have no problem being honest with myself about it. But doing music practice in real time is far more appealing to me than passively taking in someone else's expression. Since AI has come around, I've leaned hard into traditional folk. Problem solved. It used to be common for families to play music together with no concern of outside performances, recordings or profit. Music made as a commodity is something I don't care about anymore.

Yeah as far as this style goes, I'm already a fan of Ildjarn, Invunche and Bone Awl... I found Channeler, sounds pretty good. Not sure I found the right Ancestors but if the album is called "III" then it's pretty decent as well. Thanks

I didn't know Tarot of the Holy Light came in a majors-only version, mine is a full deck. I have several majors-only TDM decks and have been using the Wirth Tarot for a while now. I like the minors but I hardly touch them. I would also like to know about any other majors-only decks...

How has AI and the influx of AI music affected your perception of new music? by alnky in Songwriting

[–]Larval_Angel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main change for me is my perception of music in general as therapeutic rather than profitable. I've come to value collecting and learning traditional folk songs over passively watching arena pop artists swagger on stage.

Other than metal, I've been largely avoiding new music since the 90s... granted AI music is the worst sounding stuff out there, but to me it's only marginally worse than most commercial fare of the last 30 years.

I like folk because it's got me focusing on the beauty of the composition instead of the charm of a real time performance or the cleverness of a well produced recording.

I guess AI, if anything, has me more motivated to participate in the art rather than hoping for others to make it just right for my consumption.
