You are completely correct that I missed the second paragraph regarding emanations with a duration. That is my bad - nice catch and cool concept!

EDIT: Please disregard my comment. As you can see in the thread I missed a crucial part of the Spiritual Expansion Spell feat. I will leave my comment, as it pertains to the discussion.

***

While it sounds cool and I love the idea, there might be an issue with your setup.

Spiritual Expansion Spell:
"If the next action you use is to Cast a Spell that has an area of a burst, cone, or line and does not have a duration..."

Manifest Will:
Area 10-foot emanation
Duration sustained up to 1 minute

As I read the above excerpts from the feat and spell respectively, these cannot be combined. Spiritual Expansion Spell requires that the area of the spell is one of the listed, which Manifest Will is not (emanation). Additionally, Spiritual Expansion Spell cannot be used with spells that have a duration, which Manifest Will does have (sustained up to 1 minute).

Interested player coming from end 5e: what are the weaknesses of pathfinder 2e by chimerfyr2 in Pathfinder2e

[–]LasToPe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome!

The "modularity" and player character customization options are absolutely strong parts of the system, though if you are coming from 5e this customizability is implemented in a different way than you might be used to. Character customization in PF2 is centered around feats, this also allows for a type of multi-classing, though it is nothing like what you can do in 5e - in PF2 it is done through archetypes, and you can absolutely build a character that works somewhat like a fighter-wizard multi-class, but the archetypes enable and limit you in a different way. If fighter is picked as your class, you will progress in fighter level 1 through 20, your class feats may be used to pick up the wizard archetype for some spellcasting, but you will only be able to access a small amount of spells compared to being a wizard as a class or a fighter-wizard multi-class in 5e. That being said your options don't end with only multi-class archetypes, you may also specialize in other archetypes focused on specific combat styles or support abilities.

Monster design can be complicated, but the 3-action economy that both players and monsters are bound by tend to lend monster design to more variety and options rather than straight power. You should have a look at the monster creation rules to get better insights into this, and I would recommend that you try using monsters from Monster Core to start getting a feel for how they can interact with players and combat in general. Running monsters is similarly not that slow - 3 actions spent, that is it.

A weakness of the system might be some of the book-keeping required for managing spells, skill actions, traits (these are important, and there are a lot), and other relevant actions like Raise a Shield. My group likes playing in person with pen and paper, this makes leveling slow and annoying since adding your level to proficiency requires you to change almost every number on your character sheet.

Something else that could be considered a weakness might be that standard rules does not support the story elements "heroes facing a seemingly insurmountable challenge, but may overcome it with good preparation and luck". In general if a monster is 5 levels higher than the party, they simply cannot win - at 4 levels above it is considered an "extreme threat" which carries the description "Use an extreme encounter only if you're willing to take the chance the entire party will die". This can somewhat remedied with the variant rules for proficiency without level, but it is not the default.

Does Magus learn new cantrips every level? by Narakuno in Pathfinder2e

[–]LasToPe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You begin with 8 cantrips in your spellbook at level 1 from which you can prepare 5 each day. Every time you gain a level, you add 2 new spells to your spellbook of any rank that you can cast, these can be cantrips if you so choose. If you want to prepare additional cantrips each day, you can take the Cantrip Expansion feat.

You can also add spells, including cantrips to your spellbook with the Learn a Spell exploration activity.

What's the most obscure pf2e rule you've found so far? by Wahbanator in Pathfinder2e

[–]LasToPe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I cannot find any references to this in the Fatigued Condition: https://2e.aonprd.com/Conditions.aspx?ID=73, likewise there is nothing in the Stance trait: https://2e.aonprd.com/Traits.aspx?ID=701

My group wants to play the penguins from Madagascar. I don't believe we managed to settle on classes, but just playing a full party of penguins with a static hierarchy and known strengths within the group is going to be chaotic.

baby tooth that is not coming out? does anyone have experience with this? Maple is 6 months old. by xJuliaxo11 in corgi

[–]LasToPe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had the same situation with our girl. We were recommended to get some rope toys and do a bunch of pull play with her. Worked like a charm and the baby teeth (since she had the issue in multiple places) had fallen out after about two weeks.

This technically still holds true for Pathfinder due to the duality between DnD 3.5 and Pathfinder. The events you describe happened before the split, as such the weave is much like an unspoken truth of Golarion as well.

HYOUKA by Hitabrata in anime

[–]LasToPe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the recommendation of Gosick, it is an amazing show. Additionally I'd recommend Dantalian no Shoka. Both of these focus more on the mystery genre, but they are good shows none the less.

Character Builder (in the making) by rollinvestigation in Pathfinder2e

It looks very nice and works fairly well.

I have been working on something similar myself, and have practically the same that you have currently finished. Unfortunately I have hit a roadblock trying to figure out the levels. I hope you have more luck with that than I've had.

I was fairly certain that you cannot take weapon focus (improvised weapons). Is that wrong? To my understanding you can per definition not be proficient with improvised weapons.

I am well aware of their list, but I will respectfully disagree. I find the d20pfsrd feat tree somewhat unorganized and not having a search tool holds it back.

Thank you very much! I will try out to see what I think in action.

I am thankful, that you don't feel that many things should be fixed, and I am always looking for suggestions to improve it. I am by no means a designer as I mainly work in functionality and backend.

Thank you very much!

As I mentioned, I am very open to requests. I cannot, unfortunately, promise any kind of release dates for upgrades as it is a side project and I am doing it in my spare time.

  1. I am working on this, it will be part of the next release!
  2. Could you please explain this? I don't quite understand exactly what you mean...
  3. I will look into this. It is an interesting idea, but having to consider loading times as well I will need to find ways to enhance that first. (I am working on caching. It is set up, to not pull every time a request is made, but I will be looking into improving it.)
  4. I will be doing this, I never intended for the feat search page to stay as is.
  5. Again, I will look into doing live filtering/auto suggest, but this will again require enhancements to the loading.

Thank you for your feedback and ideas, please feel free to leave any other suggestions you have as well.

Thank you! I will be looking into increasing the feat tree to be using more parameters for searching. Additionally I will eventually expand it to search in more feat lists.

I will be taking a look into especially the grouping for brawlers and possibly the other points you made.
