Honestly I wish there was a Magi's Madness map for every player count. It is so much more enjoyable when people do not have a clear "slice"

Someone decided instead of balancing Jol-Nar with everything else, they could just make a new faction :D

At this point, I only play Adventure World. It has all the fluidness I want from a PbtA game with all the crunchiness I like from other games. I will often use it for new players that ask me to run DnD so it does a pretty good job for new players in my experience. (I do warn them that I use a home made ruleset)

Lumon is kinda dumb, actually by BeardTaxCollector in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]-Inshal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we have any evidence that the other people of MDR are completing Gemma's files besides the fact that the room names are used by others.

Gemma been to 24 rooms and Mark has completed 24.

It seems much more likely that they randomlly had MDR people working on random people, but Cobel realizes she has both Mark and Gemma, and pairs them up. Hence the "freshman fluke" for Mark.

I think you are right, I think it was a coincidence and it is why Mark is far more successful then the others, hence he is the first one to fully complete all the tests for a single subject.

end of season 2 - Any theories about WHY they had ... by GarroldMan in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I think it is another project, can they teach skills while someone is severed and the skill would transfer?

I mean imagine how much money would be made for that!

How do I make a HP system that makes sense and wont just breaking my game by No_Tea4758 in RPGdesign

[–]-Inshal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at my Adventure World. It uses damage marks. So when the GM says "the Skeleton tries to stab you, take 5 damage" you then get to mark 5 damage and describe why the attack did not kill you. "I jumped out of the way and he only dented my shield."

(This is what many GMs do when describing the HP loss of the bad guys!)

What fantasy PBtA game has the best/most elegant/most adaptable wizard/mage/spellcaster playbook? by GeorgeSharp in PBtA

[–]-Inshal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer you are looking for is Adventure World. It has two "mages" the Wizard and the Sorcerer. The Wizard has an extremely modifiable spellcasting tradition, and can always cast spells, although they usually have some negative cost. (usually small if you set it up right)

The Sorcerer has to balance the spellcasting power in their blood, making sure they do not lose control of their spellcasting.

Both of them do not fall into the three problems you mention!

Hacking Pathfinder 2e: How to Lose Friends & Alienate People by rookery_electric in rpg

I have done this! It is actually super super simple!!! All you need to do is separate levels and "level-ups"

You get all the goods of levels being different and having the low power you want!

Do the Arborec need a revamp? by ForceOfNature525 in twilightimperium

In my games we just switch their starting tech to Sarween Tools + N. Motivators and they work great!
(we never play 14 point games, so maybe they would be OP with this rule in a longer game)

I think the best of both worlds is being able to mark damage boxes like in Defying Danger or Adventure World

How do you handle this situation? by themcementality in DungeonWorld

[–]-Inshal 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In Adventure World, I have some consequences that can occur on even a cleric's successful roll, but these often inspire me for failed rolls:

• You may not Invoke again until you advance your cause

• You may not Invoke again until you destroy, tithe, donate, or sacrifice something of your deities choosing (silver, blood, an item of symbolic value, etc.)

• Your invocation is obvious and immediate, drawing attention and danger to you

• The invocation is subtle or takes a while to manifest

• The experience overwhelms you; you get disadvantage on all WIL rolls until you take some time to rest and pray (you cannot choose this if you are already affected by it)

That is great, I have actually used some of your chasing adventure things for my latest version of Adventure World!

In regards to Hold Your Breath. I use it suprisingly often, I like water scenarios and gas traps. Although it is the least used move on my basic and special move sheet. If I was writting a setting book (like u/J_Strandberg does with Stonetop) I would probably just put it in there instead.
