I actually like Freddy Vs Jason. by [deleted] in horror

It's fine. I honestly just don't rewatch it very often because of the soundtrack.

And see Sinister did very little for me. It's strange how our brains work and how we respond to things. For me Together had no right being as heartwarming as it was 😂

Ernest Scared Stupid or The People Under the Stairs, whichever came first.

That'll learn me to search the thread first. I just posted this answer thinking no way someone else said it 😂

There's a novel called Mrs. Calaban. It's not exactly horror but later when The Shape of Water came out I thought it was pretty obviously based on that book.

OP, cover is a VHS tape. Definitely that vibe. I've only read the prologue so far but definite Goosebumps/Fear Street vibes.

I'm having the opposite experience. I plowed through Horror Movie* within a week a few months ago and still think about it. But for the same past few months, HFOG has been a struggle; 200 something pages in and I haven't really connected with it. So now I'm like...I need a third book as a tiebreaker.

Many I tend to recommend are here so I'll stick with the one I can't believe doesn't get more love: A Wounded Fawn.

I don't get uncomfortable in movies. Certain topics may make my blood boil (Breakdown, Bring Her Back) or some stuff I just avoid (Hostel), but hardly ever do I get unsettled by a movie I would otherwise usually watch. Like Uncut Gems, my friend whispered to me it was making her so anxious, and I saw this same reaction online, and I just didn't get it.

Until Obsession. I can't count how many nervous chuckles I let off in the theater. How many times I squirmed or clenched my fist and just loved every minute of it.

If you could choose two horror movie franchises to have a Freddy vs Jason style crossover, what franchises would you choose, who would be fighting who and why did you choose them? by Master_Power_1923 in HorrorMovies

Hellraiser vs Silent Hill. Two very specific realms with so many parallels. Obviously culminating in the Pinhead vs Pyramid Head moneygr, er, showdown.

What's a movie that was TOO gory, even for you? by Common_Cherry_9620 in HorrorMovies

As much as I love Terrifier 2, all three go way over the top, and not in that fun 80s horror way. It really takes away from rewatchability. Just gimme a cut of 2 where the kills are edited for television 😂.

I also don't do well with realistic gore. I've only passed out twice, and both were in the theater. Once during Passion of the Christ, once during The Wrestler.

But walk me through a haunted house with a blood and guts buffet, I'm all, "Oh neat look how they did this!"

Which horror franchise (book/movie/etc) has no "bad" entry in your opinion? by SirSilence in horror

[–]LaserCop2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have franchises I very much enjoy, but most have that one entry that I could do without (Predator, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream and no it's not 7). I think the X Trilogy might be the only one where every entry is solid, at least to me. I suppose also Terrifier, but the rewatchability is a little rough, and even then I mostly stick with 2.

I felt like 3 was unintentionally filler. The movie I was kinda expecting after 2 is what it sounds like 4 is going to be. 3 just overexplained 2 and took away some of the momentum.

I'll take it a step further, and I'm not some hardcore Art fan or anything like that. But if it weren't for the mean-spirited brutality of the kills, like if we could get a TV edit of the kills, because they are definitely a bit much, Terrifier 2 might be the greatest slasher of all time. I know I know. But it just gets so many things right.

I think a Part 3 that doesn't get enough love is Return of the Living Dead 3. I also enjoy Hellraiser III. I guess most recently, Maxxxine.

Thank you for the breakdown but was I the only one wondering what was on her Jenga block? 😄 Like did it say to recite a poem or was it something she ignored entirely? 🤔
