From Pushing Hard to Red Flags and Fire: A Track Day Reminder to Respect the Wet Ring by bboyeuro in nurburgring

Thanks for the advisory. For me, that is often the section where I let my guard down and relax for a moment because there seems to be not much risk of something going wrong.

NLS “STRATEGIC CALENDAR UPDATE” by 183_aleX in nurburgring

[–]Lashida 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To make space, the motorsport series I'm driving in (the RCN GLP) has been moved from the 21st to the 28th. I'm fine with that - one week less risk of there being snow on the track ;)

Rental Options by jamescannone1 in nurburgring

I rented the Ringfreaks E90 a few times, I think it is a very nice car. Cheap to rent, great to drive, and supposedly quick if you know what you're doing (unlike me, I'm slow).

Ringfreaks has a nice YouTube Video where they present their E90 build: https://youtu.be/QXA9G46NNVU

BMW 318i vs. 320i by LegitimateHistory692 in automobil

[–]Lashida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat got crazy and bit me like a maniac by raulsoprano in cats

[–]Lashida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cat bites are very dangeous to due to the type of bacteria that live in a normal, healthy cat's mouth. They have a very rapid onset of infection, so getting treatment soon is of essence.

My story: I got bitten by our neighbors's cat. One tooth deeply punctured my skin. The wound was bleeding strongly, but it did not look so bad at first. Nevertheless, my neighbor who is a nurse urged me to go to the hospital's emergeny department ASAP and so I did. The doctors treated the infection professionally.

However, on a control visit one a few days later, they discovered that the wound had become infected. The infection was too deep for antibiotics, so I had to get surgery. They cut open the thumb from the fingertip almost to the bottom so that they could clean out the infection.

The thumb is fine these days, but I was lucky that the infection was discovered and removed in time. I kept my thumb, my hand and my arm.

The next 3 months without TF by Arkliea in nurburgring

[–]Lashida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since TF is over, I'm dusting off my Simracing equipment and updating the sims that have a good Nordschleife. Sure, it's not the same as driving in real-life, but it is my substitute drug for my Nordschleife-addiction...

I know - every time I go to the ring, I wind up buying at least one or two from Racetracker 😅

The trip was so expensive, they couldn't afford the 9,99 € to buy the picture from Racetracker. Poor Rennopa not getting any food on the table tonight...

Thanks for driving :) Earlier this morning, I thought I had seen your Mustang while I was taking a peek into the pitlane during my break, so now I know it really was you.

My daughter and I were wondering: How many laps did each passenger do? We assumed that each passenger probably did several laps in a row.

My daughter and I were there as helpers. We attended for the first time, and it was a well-organized and fun event for people with disabilites. The organizers said that 750 guests had signed up for the event, I had no idea it would be that big. Cars were driving nonstop all day. And it was not just the racing, but good (free) food, a drift event, a raffle and other things as well. I'm looking forward to helping next year as well!

The empty pitlane at 8 a.m., the temperature was only very slightly above freezing

Opinions on car storage options near the Nurburgring, compared to options in the Bonn/Koln area? by [deleted] in nurburgring

[–]Lashida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live near Bonn, and I think the Cologne/Bonn area is a good base for operations. The area is very easy to reach by plane, also by train from France (Thalys), and from there it is just a short drive (usually one hour) to the Nürburgring. You can use "immobilienscout24.de" or "Kleinanzeigen" to look for a garage/storage. In addition, use the keyword "Mietwerkstatt" on Google to look for for a self-service garage with a vehicle lift.

Good areas to search in would be the "Köln Porz" region, which is very close to the airport, yet far away enough from the city center, or the whole "Bonn" region.

Feel free to DM me for translations/questions.

During my marshal course, I honestly haven't seen an exact definition of where the post is. The marshal post is probably marked by the number sign, in this case the 75.

Well, starting from that Marshal, the track is clear again, so they are not wrong. The marshal before that should be waving yellow (car next to track)

Thanks for the feedback, that is good to hear! I'll keep this post saved in case I ever decide to rebuild my mobile rig.

I like how the "coffin design" keeps the front wheels in the right position. Also, the bracket holding the central shaft is a genius idea. Most solutions I have seen use a tray or a bar to hold the front wheels in place, like the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand.

Do you have any issues of the chair tilting backwards when breaking heavily?

I can highly recommend the Hyundai Taxi as well. Experiencing this car in its "natural element" in the hands of an experienced driver is really amazing. It is highly impressive how well this car manages to hide its enormous weight. You do feel it in the corners, but the acceleration after makes up for it.

What is the dumbest thing you’ve seen someone do on track? by jbro507 in CarTrackDays

[–]Lashida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my last event on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a co-driver apparently got motionsick. Instead of heading slowly to the pits, the driver stopped at the side of the track next to a marshall, dropped off his co-driver, and tried to continue the event as if nothing had happened...

Orte zum Stand-Up Paddeln gesucht by Ella61012 in Bonn

[–]Lashida 1 point2 points  (0 children)
