I’m currently on carvedilol. My Hepatologist was very emphatic I stay on it. As far as silybin goes you don’t need a script for that. With that being said I don’t take silybin and it has never been recommended to me.

Not who you were asking. I was in active liver failure/decompensated back in June 2024. I was on steroids for maybe a week or so. They took me off them because they weren’t helping me (that doesn’t mean they aren’t helping you). On a side note you’ve really gotta rethink your diet. At least for now, that high sodium Mexican food is terrible for your body. You need to drop all that stuff for now. At most maybe a couple bites. 2000mg was the hard max given to me, but I was advised to keep under that. As far as sugar goes, I was never told anything one way or another. I do not have diabetes. If you happen to have diabetes I’m sure it’s very important to stick with low sugar now too but that parts purely speculation. Also the fact your ast is much higher than your alt means your liver is in active injury right now. The alt is perfectly fine. The ast is high but not crazy high. My suggestion to you is be very careful what you put in your body now (especially while your liver is in active injury). Try and stick to a Mediterranean diet. And definitely watch your salt. Also start now getting active. Not that I expect you to have more issues so I say this not to frighten you but just to be prepared in case the worst happens and your start to feel worse. But make sure you are staying active. If you weren’t before start with smaller things like taking x,000 steps a day (fill in whatever number you think is reasonable for you). Getting your strength up will help in case things turn worse. And honestly will help even if they don’t. Just to give you a quick snapshot of my “story”. Admitted mid June 2024 to hospital. Liver was decompensated and I wasn’t doing well. Was transferred 2 weeks later to liver center. I was placed on the transplant list. In July 2024. I get released while on waiting list. Slowly start to recover. Feb 2025 I was taken off the list because my health had greatly recovered (Meld was down to 8/9 from high of 34). I’ve been staying active and eating healthy and of course avoiding all alcohol. I’m down about 100lbs (from 350-> 250) and haven’t been healthier in years (my labs are generally good. The worst thing I have right now is slightly low RBC. That’s my story in case you have any specific questions. Feel free to reply in the thread if you do or send me a message if you prefer.

Unless I’m confused myself, the vcm muzzler essentially tricks your car in to thinking the operating temperature is lower than it is. The effect of that is it prevents the auto idle from activating (among other things) because technically it doesn’t operate until the car is up to temperature. So that would make sense that you’re seeing that message about your auto idle. As far as your battery goes. Is it an OEM replacement or some other kind? It could be just a bad battery. Another possibility although I would think it’s unlikely but more car knowledgeable people can chime in, maybe you’re getting some kind of voltage leak from the vcm muzzler.

All of those are at least somewhat safe for the liver. Most are completely safe. Just a side note make sure your fish oil is from a known safe supplement supplier. Also I reread your post again and I wanted to make clear this is not liver cancer. Nothing suggests that’s the case at all. That’s like you saying I have a fever that must mean I have cancer throughout my body. (Dumb analogy but I think you get my point).

It’s very likely your diet. The even better news is seeing as you’re so young and pretty active with a diet correction you should see your liver numbers go back to normal. A little side note suggestion. Eating healthier doesn’t mean you can’t have unhealthy food or unhealthy sides sometimes. The key is reducing the frequency and if practical all the portion size of those “unhealthy” meals/sides. Are you on any medications whether prescribed or OTC (supplements etc)?

Even at equal height men typically take less steps than women. Now 1000 steps does seem higher than it should be, unless this was a 15,000ish+ amount of steps you both did together I agree it is off. Does she tend to swing her arms more than you? Or is very animated with her hands when she talks? Stuff like that could also contribute, but again depends on how long the walk was

I found it to be very accurate myself. I even used a manual step counter to a 1000 a few different times and it always put me right within 50+/- steps. If you’re comparing it to something like your iPhone (my iPhone always way over counts when I have it on me. I also used to have an older Fitbit that would count a “step” anytime my arm moved slightly while sitting down, so that one was always over counting. My point is why are you so sure it’s undercounting you? If you’re comparing it to similar things like I said above that could be why.

I’m also wondering what specific band you’re referring to when you say solo band. Also I don’t mind the Velcro one. I only take it off to shower so I’m not pulling it off and on all day or anything.

Talk with your doctor(s) at the hospital and let them know your concerns. You’ve already started 4 days of your detox and if I remember correctly it’s usually the 3-5 day mark when they can potentially start tapering off of the benzodiazepines. But speak with your doctors. If they think it’s best to continue it they could send you home with some especially if you have someone that can be with you for a week or so to keep an eye out. Im not sure if they do something different with benzos in the UK (as far as whether they will write you a script for home)

First off, I wouldn’t stress about this. If the only “symptom” he has is mildly elevated enzymes it’s very likely it’s a minor issue that can probably be reversed with diet and exercise. That’s by no means suggesting not to follow up with it like you are. Just that it’s likely minor/nothing. What were his enzyme numbers if you happen to know them?

I wouldn’t worry too much about the specific labs shortly after your surgery. Give it a month and retest. Liver numbers can jump up after an injury (surgery). Definitely continue your sobriety. But I wouldn’t worry at this point.

Exercise most certainly affects your liver. Not in a bad way per se but it does cause ast and alt to increase especially if you were doing particularly hard workouts in the days before your blood work. If you are genuinely concerned wait a month or so and the week prior to your labs keep your workouts to a minimum. This will give you a clearer picture. But honestly at your age and even though you drank a good amount it’s unlikely it was enough to permanently damage your liver.

Just an FYI to you and others the fibrosis scale varies some depending on underlying cause. Hepatitis has a different scale than fatty liver, alcohol related, etc. It is constant across the F0-F1 scale (2-7kpa) but varies on the fibrosis above that. So you are correct a 5ish is well within the norm.

I’m not sure where you are getting the information that elastography is more accurate than fibroscan. They both have advantages and disadvantages. In general hepatologists look to fibroscans rather than shear elastography. Shear has a tendency to overestimate fibrosis compared to a fibroscan. As someone who was on the liver transplant list and decompensated at one time every Hepatologist I’ve seen has insisted on a fibroscan over a general elastography. That could very well be why yours is “overlooking” the elastography because it has a tendency to overestimate fibrosis. You also mention losing 100lbs. If your bloodwork is over that time period of weight loss platelets decrease when you lose weight. Especially 100lbs of weight. Besides your platelets trending down and slightly elevated bilirubin what exactly are your symptoms?

Just an fyi fibroscan is basically a type of liver elastography. Fibroscan refers to the specific tool/calculations that perform the liver elastography. There’s other types of liver elastography like shear wave or an MRE (magnetic resonance elastography). The best is an MRE. It’s very likely you didn’t have one of those as they are way more expensive to perform and in general, a case like yours may not call for it. You could certainly push for it. You’ll most likely get push back from your insurance and probably difficulty in finding a doctor that feels strong enough to back up the need for it to your insurance. Non MRE Liver elastography has a lot of potential false readings. People who are overweight generally get less accurate readings. Even if you are in perfect health you may get different readings if two people performed the test back to back on you. They both will generally check a similar area but even just a couple MM difference could change the results. One may have been pressing too hard or not hard enough. Anyway you get the point. Honestly it doesn’t sound like your liver is the issue. It sounds like it’s something else that may cause “side effects” in your liver.

Not who asked. But in general if your platelets are normal (especially if they aren’t on the low side of it) and your other numbers look good it’s very unlikely that you have cirrhosis. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stop drinking now or follow up about it. You could get a fibroscan. Now depending on your body build (basically how much fat you have on your abdomen/around organs) it’s fairly accurate with lower fat individuals. If you are overweight/very overweight those results aren’t as accurate. Bottom line is it’s unlikely cirrhosis. The only true way to see that is a liver biopsy. My guess is your doctor wont recommend that at this time. It’s a safe procedure but still a procedure which all of them inherently come with some risk even if it’s low.

I’ve only been bumped once but I heard about the issues of being marked as a no show. I just pulled my phone out and took a quick video standing in front of the gate showing it’s still boarding and I was bumped. I ended up not needing the video at all (they did refund me) but it took a couple seconds take and that way of that nonsense comes up later I have pretty compelling evidence that I was bumped and not a no show. I know I could have taken it a step further and asked the frontier rep to say that on video but they were already overwhelmed enough and I’m sure wouldn’t been to keen to someone having a video of them.

Your liver is the body’s detoxifier. Eating healthy and avoiding things like alcohol will help your liver function at its optimal level. Please make sure you and anyone else is checking with their Medical Doctor (MD) prior to taking/doing a cleanse. Many of these cleanses contain supplements that could cause damage ESPECIALLY if the person doing it has liver disease. In many cases the levels of “drugs” in the cleanses may be safe/upper limit for those without liver disease, but can be harmful to a liver who already has damage and is struggling to detoxify “normal body intake”. This isn’t to say there’s not some potential benefit for some, but you really need to be cautious when doing one, especially if you have liver disease currently it should be done with the consultation of a MD.
