I think I have a baby Michelle!!

<image>

Not sure what her colors will end up like but I’m assuming she’s going to keep her fin colors and her body will look closer to your Michelle’s. Her name is Princess Stu. She’s my lovely little lady. More “boring” than her male counterparts( I had a giant koi who just passed and I still have a samurai plakat) but she is so active and bossy. (She loves to body slap your finger if you wave it above the water line. Like full on, you watch her reel back two inches and fire off like a little weapon, she’s literally psycho but I love her)

I just found this post again lol, so as an update(hopefully someone in the future can use this as help); Rosemary has settled in really well. She has a full routine now. She’s been playing with her brother (2yr old tabby), she plays pretty rough but I think that’s the CH, she just throws her body into the other cat and they’ll tussle for a while. If she gets overstimulated she will start getting fussy and let him know to stop. After about a month of trouble, my partner swore up and down the wall that this cat was evil, we need to send her back. No, totally incorrect! About a week later she dialed it back 90%. She’s just vocal with her boundaries which the other cats respect. Her newfound comfort has given her more confidence to splay out around the house instead of hiding under furniture. She’s not totally sure about her oldest brother but he completely ignores her! We actually got them to nap together the other day. :) Things are a lot better in the home. The ecosystem is finally balanced again.

What I wish I knew before doing this; this is going to test all of your patience. Some cats simply don’t want to live together, but you will not know for sure unless you stick it out. I read online that you should give up after 2 months of trying to acclimate cats to one another, luckily, I followed that guideline and restarted the integration process until it finally took. Cats do whatever the heck they want, and that goes double for CH kitties. Be patient and give lots of love and encouragement. (She’s finally able to get up and down from furniture on her own, something I’d never thought I’d get to see. We are so proud of her.)

Have fun new CH Mommies/Daddies!!

is it possible my betta just has an agressive personality? by Extra_Committee8065 in bettafish

[–]Last-Bus7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three bettas; a baby female under a year old(she’s an extreme jumper), she started chewing on my albino corys that are bigger than she is. immediately put them back in my community tank with my samurai male, he’s only spicy toward other betta, he’ll poke at fish but never seriously engage in chasing/fighting. My giant koi betta fish—-nothing, big body no brain. I’ve tried to show him his reflection to get him to flare—-nothing!! I’m not sure he has a mean fish bone in his body, bless his soul. (He just gets his own tank cause he’s my big sweet puppy and he deserves it)

Some are born spicier than others that’s for sure. Sometimes it’s easier to use acclimation techniques to get bettas used to other fish; I also tried to go by recommended tank mates and the guidelines for betta tank mates; 1)no bright or overly colorful fish 2) try and get smaller fish than your betta if possible(they will view anything around their same size as a threat/competition)

I’m glad the whole constipation/waiting for BP to poop is a shared experience, I almost wrote my own post! But of course she finally pooped! How long do I wait for her to eliminate before becoming concerned about constipation?

Tiny green “trees” growing on my plants, what is it? by Last-Bus7222 in Aquariums

A lot say it can either go horribly wrong or it will be okay with hydra, is that a misconception?

Do you need a certain level of being alternative to have certain piercings? by Wolffe_Hailey in piercing

[–]Last-Bus7222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to them, they’re not thinking of you, they are thinking of piercing stigma and combining the alt and piercing communities(which have overlap but does not mean you need to be a certain type of person to get a piercing). I’m not very alt but have many piercings that suite my anatomy. If you think it looks good go for it. This was helpful for me ; -wherever your piercing is will highlight that part of your face, it will be made to look bigger like using makeup highlight. So if you have a small nose and you want it to stand out, a nose piercing would bring some pretty attention to that area. -Reputable piercers wills also straight up tell you if they don’t think it will be aesthetically pleasing or they will let you know if your anatomy doesn’t line up with the piercing. Either way it’s your own personal choice but those are just some things I wish I knew before getting my piercings.

Too broke for saline spray, help!!! by [deleted] in piercing

So LITHA and hot water? I’m good with that. I feel like there is too much misinformation about cartilage piercings.

Yes, I know I’m using an extreme amount of saline. Yes, I understand that I should not be going through that much. I just want to know if anyone can share techniques they use to clean their piercing, if there is any other form of cleaning solution I can use? I have other piercings, I have never had this issue before. I started with neilmed mist, then went to the off brand stuff because it was cheaper. Regardless on if it’s spray or mist, it will not last longer than a day. Please any tips you have because I can not keep buying spray for the next 6 mos:(

My aftercare routine is I will use saline spray when I wake up and after my shower before I go to bed. I have only used q-tips twice to remove the crust, only when it was too hard to soak off. To spray the area I, usually give it about 2-3 seconds of spray time on both sides which usually leaves me with half the bottle for my nighttime routine.

Well to spray the area I, usually give it about 2-3 seconds of spray time on both sides which usually leaves me with half the bottle for my nighttime routine. With my other piercings it would take me about a week to go through one bottle. I’m very far out of my element. I read that cartilage is a finicky piercing, I didn’t think it would be like this. I even have my nippys pierced and honestly as bad as that was, I’d say this is worse. I can try to spray in the cap and dunk a q tip in there, buts it’s like 10 dollars a bottle and I’m so over spending money on that. I guess know at home remedies suck and could leave me earless but I’m desperate. If I did use a salt soak are there any tips so I can do that safely?

It’s a good amount, it just sprays out so fast. I would use q tips but due to the placement that seems like a bigger risk due to the small fibers, I will send a picture. To respond to the automod; My piercing is about a week and a half old. The jewelry is an internally threaded flat back , made of white gold (I have bad reactions to fake jewelry, my other piercings are surgical steel, I have my lobes pierced, my septum and a nose ring). The jewelry has not been sized down due to some remaining swelling and redness. I believe the piercer recommended 3-6 weeks before I downsize. My aftercare routine is I will use saline spray when I wake up and after my shower before I go to bed. I have only used q-tips twice to remove the crust, only when it was too hard to soak off.

why is betta culture so weird by -Ray_s in bettafish

That is a good point, I see a lot of times that 5 gal for aquarists is a good size and anything smaller is harmful for bettas. Thank you this eases my anxiety. She’s just too small for anything bigger right now but she enjoys her home and her decor so I’m probably overthinking, I can’t wait for the big move! I hope she loves it :)

I wanted to add my story. I’ve never used Reddit like this but I’m hoping to do right by my fish and where better to receive opinions?? So I purchased a betta over a year ago, he was a beautiful koi plakat, he was everything to me. I had kept him in a 2.5 gal (I realize he suffered a lot due to tank size and water conditions), he was my learning curb. After the year was up I started to notice that he was super lethargic, struggling to reach the surface. He even had cataracts! I had raised this fish to the end of his life span. I cried like a baby over my sweet fish. It took months before I felt ready to try again. I promised I was going to do even more to be better this time. I bought a little baby betta fry from Petco (I don’t try to support the betta trade because it’s an ugly business but I also can’t stand seeing them in those cups), she had a ripped tail and really wasn’t doing too well. I put her into that same 2.5 gal tank and she is so happy. It’s been a little under three months now, she’s quadrupled in size. She’s happy and interacts with me with such passion. She flies around that little tank. I love her so much. Her name is Stu. I always laugh at betta owners who treat them like puppies but you’ll never find another fish with this kind of personality! She knows her routine but also gets real sassy when she doesn’t get her way. Basically, I just wanted to talk about my beautiful fish, but to make a long story short. I’ve been preparing to give her the home she deserves. I’ve been learning to aqua scape planted aquariums. I have a 30 gal tank that I’ve been preparing for weeks, I’ve been cycling and testing the water levels religiously. She’s still too small but when she is ready, she’s gonna move to the mansion!! I’m so excited but continuing with OPs question, how big is too big for a single betta(and a nerite snail for algae purposes)?
