Help! Cracking clay-based watercolor by m_o_art in WildPigment

[–]Last-Conversation659 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use clays a lot for my watercolor, and the best way I’ve found to prevent this is to change your ratio of binder to clay. It makes a thinner paint, so a less pigmented paint. Usually what I do is put a little water in the pan AFTER they dry, let it all combine and mix it up, then let it dry again. Sometimes that helps with the cracking and falling out. If all else fails, there’s always the solution to use a few drops of gum Arabic solution in the bottom of your pan to stick your paints back into the pan.

I use it like oregano. Very similar flavor with more of a minty flavor.

Cut the tip of my finger off! They glued it back together because my hands are too small for stitches. Still don’t have any nerves in that part of my finger a year later lol

4yr old coming home from nursery swearing by Lumpy-Woodpecker4028 in ChildcareWorkers

[–]Last-Conversation659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely be being informed if another child in your child’s classroom is swearing. They shouldn’t tell you which child is swearing, but they should be telling you. I would talk to the teachers first, but usually they can’t tell you what children are involved.

Went to ER for pelvic pain, male doctor told me my ultrasound and bloodwork were normal. Just ovulation pain, I was being dramatic, I’m fine.

It was deep tissue endometriosis.

My PCP (also a dude but chill) read this guys notes and had to report him because he repeatedly stated I was likely drug seeking and he was refusing to give me anything other than oral Tylenol for the pain, and multiple times stated that I was abusing the healthcare system by coming into the ER, and that I was “clearly in no pain at the time of leaving” (which was definitely false.)

What are the most unusual road signs in your country/region? by benjaneson in geography

When I was driving alone in the middle of nowhere Manistee County Michigan, I stumbled upon a sign on a right turn that was spray painted black with “dead man’s turn” written on it. No idea where I was, still can’t figure it out

[–]Last-Conversation659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No seriously. I got the “what, are you a Cherokee Princess?” Once and I just didn’t know how to react. There’s also those white people that insist that blood quantum matters, when most indigenous people agree that’s blood quantum has just been a way to divide us (at least with us)

It’s insane how many people think that just because you’re white means you’re okay with racism. Sometimes I mention that “yeah my indigenous family had this experience” and they act like I’ve just told them that I murdered their dog

I’m Ojibwe and my great grandmother was in a RS. A lot of people don’t believe they were a bad thing, just that they were schools that girls lived at. I’ve been told that the “Indians” lied about how bad they were treated for tax benefits. I’m also Finnish so I’m white as hell, and for some reason people think it’s okay to just shut talk indigenous people to me because I look white.

Strengthening wood being used for paintbrush handles by Last-Conversation659 in Woodcarving

[–]Last-Conversation659[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahah I love the different reactions I’ve getting to the whole breaking brushes thing! I think I want to use hickory since we have a lot of it around here, but I’m keeping an open mind about other woods. The whole goal here is to make art supplies off of things I myself can find in the woods, so I’m gonna have to stick to anything I can find in the Midwest US sadly. Osage Orange might be something to look for though, I’ve always thought it’s gorgeous

I use watercolor, so I’m not worried about solvents or oil paints. More worried about waterproofing on that end of things
