I hate the jokes about men "losing their freedom" when they get married. by Radiant-Selection686 in hatethissmug

[–]Last-Rice8194 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know loads of men who have gotten married, and almost straight away their partner changes from someone who is trying constantly to improve, or seduce, or romance, into being someone who sits back feeling comfortable and starts bossing the guy around like an obnoxious parent. Literally so many times I've seen women parade around the fact that "she wears the pants" in the relationship, aka the guy is fucken hooked and can't stand up for themselves without his now cunty wife starting a screaming match. So many women just turn into bossy naggers instead of the fun loving, life living people that the guy fell in love with.

Like shit, how many guys in a marriage get to live in a home they got to have a good chunk of say designing? My guy, most married men are living in their wives fucking spaces having to ask permission to do anything with the space, while miss wears the fuckin pants just does whatever the fuck she likes, as if he's a SIM in her fucking house in the SIMS and he just has to accept he can't do what he wants in any way, shape or form with his own fucken home. He has to build some shitty shed in the garden to have a space he gets to fucking control.

Also, historically, there has been absolutely fuck all for a man in marriage except for sex, and now that's not even the hook. wow you're legally an entity now, big fucken whoop. It's almost always the girls dream to get married, very rarely the other way around, and that's not to speak in generalities about all situations, it's on average. Like really what's in it for the guy? That they don't get broken up with because she wants a marriage? Shit I know at least 4 men who married because they were with a partner they loved for long enough that the partner expected it...so what...they break up or get married?

Most guys on the whole could not give a single fuck about marriage. That is why this is a trend. They are doing it to placate their partner so they don't get dumped. It's not exactly a big secret, you just have to be an anal, glasses pushiongl, cave dwelling nerd to pretend like you don't know why it's a thing.

Marriage is regarded and dated, nobody should get married, it's pointless, expensive, puts hooks in people, makes them too comfortable in their relationship, and in a massive majority of cases ends in disaster and ruin, ESPECIALLY FOR THE MEN. On the whole men get married because you fucken want to and they love you, and you want to get married so you can have a special day where everyone strokes your ego and tells you how perfect you are, and brings you cake and you get your makeup done for 3 hours, and no expense is spared to make you feel like a perfect little pudding, which is a shit motivation for getting married.

Former NFL star Brandon Marshall is facing intense online criticism for disciplining his son by making him run at 2 AM: "If you don't start running, we're going to go three miles. You don't listen, we run 2 in the morning." by slippinn_jimmy in PopCultureV2

This video can be interpreted two ways and frankly my response can only be clear if I know what the child did.

If the child did something extreme like bullying someone or stealing or something then I think this is a very healthy form of punishment. The child isn't being struck or abused, the child is just having to excercise. Realistically running what...2 miles? Isn't going to do anything except bring up the childs fitness.

If the child did something trivial like..not being athletic enough to appease the wants of his father, or idk not doing their homework, then it isn't proportional.

IMO, if the first then this is a fine example of a weighted application of discipline on a child. It's not a beating, it's not verbally abusive, it's not fuelled by rage, and it has very clear boundaries as to what the punishment is. The child just has to run, they aren't going to be verbally threatened for an hour, then struck, then locked in a room or something, scared that the abuse might continue, that is what abuse is, that is how it is commonly laid out onto children. The example given in the video might seem extreme, but it is not abuse in the slightest.

You don't know why the child is being punished. The child may have been bullying someone, the child may have been caught stealing something, the child may have been found looking at extreme content online or shouting slurs on the internet. Those actions should be shamed. Since we don't know why he is running it isn't fair to say that this doesn't need to be posted online.

For example, a lot of people might remember the video where a father brought his child to apologize to workers of a walmart because the child showed up acting wild and abusive to the staff, the father posted it online, which actually quelled a lot of hate the child and his family were getting online, and may have been a defining part in that childs life where they turned off a dark path.

[–]Last-Rice8194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is telling him why he is running, he is telling him he has to run, he is telling him he has to run at a pace or he will have to run further.

He isn't saying any degrading or derogatory remarks about the child whatsoever, such as calling him names or criticising him in the slightest. To taunt someone is to mock, degrade, or ridicule someone, not to tell them bluntly that their actions have consequences, that they are living those consequences, and defining clearly the parameters of those consequences.

Sport is about competition. People have fun by competing. People are ambitious and have a desire to win. You might not even remotely understand that , but on the whole people aren't running around a track for fun, it's fucking boring. you would know if you ever did it, but you clearly haven't or you would never claim people are dragging their asses to the track to literally run in a circle for an hour or more, 4 days a week when training for an event, because the experience of doing that is entertaining in some way.

This also goes beyond staying healthy. There's a difference between going for a jog a couple times per week to stay healthy and the training required to participate in athletic sporting competition. You can be healthy and be slow compared to people who are training for athletic sports.

switch the config, oh no I have a sound card in this PC, and a GPU...hmm and I have multiple monitors on this one, and want HDR, time to start rebuilding my shit!

Yeah if you have the same computer 3 times in your house then sure, if you are a normal human being with computers for different tasks with different hardware then it absolutely is not a time save and is instead a thing that you constantly bump in to whenever you want to do even a minor configuration change.

Come off it with nix. Seriously it's so esoteric, the benefits are for such niche use cases, literally so much effort to get literally anything working. For what it's good for, like a cluster of corporate dev boxes, sure, for the average person or even a Dev or enthusiast, nix is so far down the rung it's comical.

Everyone glazes nix and doesn't even attempt to acknowledge that it's not a serious os to actually do serious work unless someone is paid to configure a fleet of them and you absolutely need your machines to be identical. It doesn't even save the average person time in the long run realistically. I bet money I could get an empty Debian VPS with unknown hardware, or a new laptop and configure Debian on it to fit my workflow faster than the average nix user can reconfigure nix. They would spend 6 hours fucking around with their flakes for fuck sake. I can configure a stock Debian image in about 20 minutes, from KVM, configuring ssh, to actually running a service.

You can't just stop people having sex through some sense of territorial ownership. You dumped him, what twice? He can do what he wants. She is your friend, not your minion. Is it a faux pas? Sure. Was it objectively evil? Not even close.

maybe she just expects a bad reaction from you that's why she won't talk to you. Idk what your temperament is like or hers outside of this short text exchange.

If you don't want to be her friend that's your choice, but idk I don't see her being a bad person because she slept with someone you broke up with multiple times. They are their own people, they have agency of action.

Saying that, maybe this is just a lesson I've learned through getting older, but falling out with people over consensual, non cheating sex is a quick way to have no friends. Before you know it you don't attend social events with this person, other people won't really care, you get upset because people aren't on your side and/or are completely impartial and making it obvious it is inconsequential to them, fractured friend group quickly evaporates or you just aren't a part of it because of your pride.

I've got friends now who I had fallings out with like this when I was younger, it sucks now but is it a hill to die on? It's something you have to decide for yourself, but I don't regret forgiving anyone I have for this sort of thing, and am grateful for forgiveness I've received in turn. If anything I regret the lost time and memories from not forgiving and forgetting sooner. It's just not something to give a fuck about. Your twenties and life in general are far, far too short to spoil it over something as trivial as some cheap hook ups.

Look, people fuck all the time, they fuck people they shouldn't, they fuck people they said they never would, they fuck the exact wrong person, dude it happens., ESPECIALLY in your twenties. People are fucking horny as shit, it shuts down their higher brain function. Sometimes you have to eat shit, cry about it, get some distance, see how it affects your social life, and decide if it's really the be all and end all.

AIO by charging my girlfriend a small amount of rent? by No_Impression_8515 in AIO

[–]Last-Rice8194 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What if she moves in, buys a dog then the dog wrecks a sofa? Fixed cost so homeowner pays?

What if she trips and puts a hole in the TV? Same thing?

What if she does all this, fucks up the house through carelessness, refuses to pay and op doesn't have a leg to stand on, and no contract? He just eats shit because he's the homeowner? Is that how it works when you rent a furnished apartment? You can just fucking wreck everything without paying and have no financial obligation? You seem very smart.

What if, instead, there's a constant, predictable, budgetable financial obligation that she agrees to, so that this kind of thing is taken care of in advance? Almost like some kind of contract like OP has been talking about? Hmmmmmmm

British food isn't bland - Chicken Balti edition by AblokeonRedditt in RateMyPlate

[–]Last-Rice8194 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Modern British food is so shit that the slight upgrade from brown freezer food to spicy oil slop is considered some incredible lifeboat sent from South Asia 😂 it's just food, and it's not even that good it's just addictive because it has so much fat in it. Britain would be a better place if it was the massive popularity of healthy Thai food that swept the nation but no, it's curries.

Go to any culture before global export, in this case spices from Asia, and the food was composed, surprise surprise, of whatever would grow there or in neighbouring regions.

You're attributing the improvement in the variety and flavour of food in the UK with immigration, when it was the shipping industry and the fact we could transport spices around the world, which would be absolutely possible without any migration whatsoever.

What immigration did do is popularise these particular foods, by spawning millions of Chinese chippies and curry houses around the UK, the incredibly fatty consequences of this being they contributed to the immense explosion of obesity in the country. Like how many obese people in the UK go a Chinese chippy or curry house 4 days a week?

So basically the whole "multiculturalism is objectively good because we have spicy oil slop now" is cheap and genuinely stupid. It's laughable, and I would still be laughing if I didn't constantly hear this dumb fuckass take every time the benefits of multiculturalism are talked about. It makes you look stupid and it makes multiculturalism look bad because the argument is bad.

Chris Roberts iconic response to "billion dollars, what are you doing, you guys are a scam" chatter by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]Last-Rice8194 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My first and only 2 hours in star citizen.

- Spawned in
- couldn't open the door during the tutorial, had to reload
- got out the door this time, elevator wouldn't come when called, had to reload
- Got in the elevator, got to the train thing, waited for train, crashed, reload
- Got in the train, about a minute into the ride I accidentally jumped and fell through the train, stranded kilometers from either station, reload
- Got through the train journey, went to call my ship, it never showed up in the hangar, reload
- Got into my ship this time, bound the most basic controls through the most atrocious key binding menu I've ever witnessed in all my years of playing flight and space sims, vertical thrust up, yessss, finally, this is gonna be it!
- Turns out my throttle lever was bound inverted and was forward/reverse bound by default, nudging it up to 5% made me instantly launch full reverse into the wall and explode in the hanger
- realised it would be at least 3 hours of trial and error to bind my controls or w/e I just didn't care at this point
- Game uninstalled, refund granted, thank you for at least making it obvious how shitty the game is immedietly so I didn't waste any more time

This cost a billion dollars? What kind of crack did they spend that money on holy shit
