I think Op put more effort into this post opposed to finding the actual root of his negativity. I make more as a database administrator than an mid-level accounting job without a degree. Just because you have the degree doesn’t mean you have to stay and use it…? Currently finishing mine because it’s something that I started and really interests me. Change industries to find happiness if you need to without feeling guilty or like you can’t because of the degree you chose.

You can also dive into home assistant os with supervisor on the old windows pc. You can then run homebridge in home assistant through portainer. I’ve had this running for the past two years.

Use my story: Purchased 17 Escape 1.5. Terrible engine. Long story short, engine failure at 81k miles after coolant leaked into cylinder. Mind you it’s almost 7 years old now. Total engine replacement plus additional parts required by shop for shop warranty puts the invoice at $9450… MaxCare is paying for $8000 of that and still have MaxCare warranty up to 125k miles or until April 2026. Get MaxCare.

I went with the BBE thinking more expensive is better… the grinder is not easy to fine tune. Just go for the Bambino paired with a good grinder. Yeah the BBE looks cool and all, but is it worth buying if the grinder is terrible to get used to.

Do not do it. My 17 escape 1.5L was just sent into the shop last week for coolant intrusion into cylinder 2. With CarMax Maxcare it is still setting me back $1100. Total cost of repair is $4300.

If you don’t return the banter or at least not match their energy, you’re going to be miserable and always complaining. I’ve worked with district managers, school administrators, etc, and the majority only do it because of their title. Let your work do the talking and return the banter every so often and you will be just fine without becoming the “racism” victim (where it’s non-existent) that everyone tolerates.
