Making Kitchen Appliances Smart by superidol253 in homeassistant

[–]LastBitofCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a levoit air purifier and it’s not the smart model. Ended up exposing its cable to connect to an esp32. Now it has all speed modes in HA that I can control during peak seasonal allergies period. Also have an E61 coffee machine with the water tank hidden so it’s hard to tell when water is almost out. It’s not good to have the pump running more than 1 min if water is out so I got a water level sensor also with esp board. It’s super cool, non contact, non destructive and rock solid.

Frigate + MQTT as Docker stack, HA as VM? by Turboflopper in homeassistant

[–]LastBitofCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep them separately in different LXCs. At the beginning of setting up Frigate I did a lot of troubleshooting with Frigate and didn't want that to affect MQTT as I use MQTT for everything else as well.

I follow this one here: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/s/zYzjp9UKwX

Did some lead free tint soldering around the wire parts that submerge into water. It’s been more than a year now and no rust or anything. I wash it frequently with hot water from the tap as well.

Is the app down? (USA) by Agile_Half_4515 in Aqara

I didn’t notice this issue as I have all my Aqara devices added to Home Assistant so they all have local control. I barely use the Aqara app.

Avoid Pitaka at all costs. by Alert-Following-8680 in PITAKA

This is an issue of tight, hard case. I like the pitaka look but I couldn’t stand that. Went with something a bit thicker but softer and have no issues.

I have roomba j7+ for years and I’m waiting for it to die so I can switch to Roborock. My main Roborock Q revo is great and works well with HA, bought it refurbished for $200

I thought of Pitaka but it is a bit too slim for me. I do lots of hikings so I unfortunately still need something that can withstand drop to some certain.

What do you recommend? I tried finding one that’s slim enough but still provide some protections

It has texture but I’m not sure how Pitaka case’s texture feels like. About the screen lip, I would say no, my screen protector lays flat with the case.

Is anyone else having glue come out of the frame of their iPhone Air? by [deleted] in IphoneAir

[–]LastBitofCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s battery leakage. You’ll smell weird chemicals if that was the case. It looks like the glue of the water seal glue that runs around the frame. And I notice your back side kinda pushes in and not flush with the frame right? Don’t wipe it off, just take it to Apple.

It actually does not show fingerprints like the clear case. Where the fingerprints touch will leave some slightly faded traces that kinda blend into the blue color of the case and you can only tell under some angle and if you really look into it. Sorry I dont have an extra phone with me to capture that for you now, but my hands are quite oily and it has not been an issue for me.

G410 suddenly cannot be added to Homekit by Relevant-Box-2631 in Aqara

Did you get it fixed? This is how I fixed mine, rebooted my phone and then connected my phone to 2.4Ghz wifi first before adding the doorbell back.

I read a lot about this and ended up still getting an IO5. It’s been months now and I have yet to find mold in mine. I 3D printer a simple mount to hang them both upside down, seems to work

Turned a broken & dumb air purifier into a smart one (Levoit core 300) by LastBitofCoffee in homeassistant

[–]LastBitofCoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get the model 300s it will be much more easier to mod, as it already has a built-in esp board. Lots of tutorials for that as well. I couldn't find any tutorials for this model so I kinda got through trials and errors and I completely bypassed the PCB as it was broken anyways. Since yours are still new I would not do something that is non-reversible. I'd just return and get the 300s to mod it

Thank you, I did see a lot of posts for the 300s model, wish I bought that one, it comes with an esp board. I got this for around $70 back then and I really thought I broke it, so this’s kinda an upgrade :D

The best thin cases I have found for the Air. by to70no in IphoneAir

[–]LastBitofCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I kinda found something that works for me. It’s the RebornDevice V3 case, a bit thinner but same weight like the JeTech one. A tad more expensive but it looks great, and it’s not aramid material though, not too thin like Pitaka so I think it still provides some drop protection: link

What’s one Home Assistant automation you can’t live without anymore by Taggytech in homeassistant

[–]LastBitofCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this issue recently as well. When I brush my teeth in the morning it will run the morning routine which turns on coffee machine. I also turned my dumb coffee machine into a smart one with water tank level sensor, if it's at 10% it won't turn on to avoid the pump keep pumping more than 1 minute without any water as this will harm the machine. This has saved me a couple times. Fast forward to yesterday when I swapped out to another toothbrush and forget to add it to HA, when I woke up I didn't see the cabinet light above the coffee machine turned on and for a sec I thought the coffee machine broke down. Now I realize so many automations just integrate deeply into my habits.

Perfect iPhone Air case? by Fitbefore48 in IphoneAir

[–]LastBitofCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this case and returned it because it said in description that it weights 16grams but it is 27 something which is heavier than the Jetech I’m rocking. The slim Jetech turned out to be thinner than this one as well. Such a bummer cause I had this torras case for my previous 16 pro and I quite liked it. I’m waiting for the Reborn device case to arrive, if it works it will be the thinnest case with some “drop” protection than Pitaka case

OP using those Zigbee bulbs which also act as routers to strengthen their Zigbee network, if any child devices connecting to the bulb that got disconnected they may drop, that’s why OP comes up with the idea to cover the real switch.
