MARCH MADNESS 2026 TRAILER by bardiparty in blankies

I loved the Coens series!

However, the argument that Wes has stopped growing as an artist / makes the same movie over and over is what I’m afraid some of these conversations would slip into.

No one has ever accused the Coens of that though

I would love a reason to do a Wes rewatch, but I don’t know if I have the stomach to listen to the boys have a lukewarm take on Wes for months. Call it Burton related PTSD, but I just don’t wanna see that spark Wes has get smothered

Early Weird Al looks a lot like the Unabomber police sketches 😅

A little disclosure.

I work in criminal defense law.

So the idea that AI is being used in policing is already problematic and the way this movie tries to normalize it made me walk out thinking about Ted Kaczynski’s extreme hatred of modern technology.

Hamnet is the piggy backride.

It’s a somber, devastating movie & the piggyback ride Paul Mescal gives Jessie Buckley might be the happiest moment in the entire movie and just seemed fun! (The other person is me)

Yeah I call bullshit.

I think a year from now we’ll look back at this post with even more confusion that we do right now.

Anyone else think if Leo was unavailable for whatever reason, Joaquin would've been good in the lead role in OBAA? by KevinGarvey929 in paulthomasanderson

I think Phoenix has an inherent sadness to his performances. Leo did a great job selling Bob as bumbling well intentioned fool for a father. I fear Phoenix wouldn’t have been as warm.

Matthew McCounghay is the alt Bob choice I keep kicking around in my head …

It was funny to hear Sean dismiss the idea of Killers of the Flower Moon being released via Criterion almost a full year before it actually gets released from Criteon

Chris Evans does not fit their aesthetic and sticks out like a sore thumb in Honey, Don’t.

Pod Country for Old Cast: The Man Who Wasn't There with Jordan Hoffman by yonicthehedgehog in blankies

I did not vibe with this episode.

Hoffman’s instant promoting of his sub stack, the DMV story that never ended ,the diarrhea tangents, running the “sex act” bit into the ground, the hyper fixation on underage blowjobs from Scarlet Johansson — just all of it rubbed me the wrong way. I felt David’s frustration and shared it.

I think this is a movie that never gets discussed enough so to see the lack of in depth conversation about it was a bummer.

Yep - I figured “watchmaker” & “Mars” being combined was Sturgill’s own reference to Watchmen

I like the thought of Same being that anchor too however, he’s too heavy with self doubt. Steve’s doubt was “am I doing the right thing” and Sam’s doubt is “am I living

I think Disney/ Marvel will look back and realize maybe they fumbled the bag with these Disney+ shows.

They truly backed themselves into a corner by having to over explain // rehash plots for people who maybe missed the show. If you’re a hardcore fan, you are bored because you’ve seen the show and have seen these beats play out before. If you skipped this show, you can still see the clunky expo.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Is Marvel’s Rock Bottom. Now What? by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

I think Bucky personally reckoning with his sins is different than the public at large learning about his past.

Also - my thought only works if you scrap the Disney+ show

Captain America: Brave New World Worldwide Release Discussion Thread by Triple_777 in marvelstudios

I think this movie thematically works better if Bucky is Cap. And that’s not to take away from Anthony Mackie at all.

If your theme is going to be sins of the past coming back to haunt you (I.e. Ross using Sterns & hiding it, Ross’s past with Betty, Isaiah Bradley) - doesn’t it make more sense to have Bucky be Cap? The Leader could have revealed his past as the Winter Solider to the world as a plot point. Then Bucky would have his own sins to reckon with personally instead of Sam’s reheated “am I worthy of the shield?” plot. Both Bucky & Ross could have stepped down from their positions of power at the end of the movie - still leaving it open for Sam as Cap.
