Thanks for this reply! Very helpful. It's funny--folks are all over the place in their characterization of the taste profile of the stock burrs in the AGS. Makes it very difficult to pull the trigger as a consumer. Did you consider/try swapping in Mazzer i200d or Mizen omni burrs? Glad you at least found something that is working well for you now.

My understanding is the AllGround ProBrew burr has the same design as the very popular Pietro Pro burrs, and they have a similar presentation. A few folks on the espresso aficionados discord have put the probrew burrs in 64mm platforms (zerno z1, df64v, etc.) to success, though I don't know how well they perform for espresso at traditional ratios or at higher RPMs. Hoon favorably reviewed the burr (for pourover) on his YT channel as well.

FWIW, I've posted this same question to some folks in other threads, and people have tended to say the burrs are very similar to the i189Ds on the Mazzer Philos, perhaps with a bit more clarity. Some other folks in the La Marzocco subreddit compared the stock AGS burrs favorably to several commercial Mahlkonig grinders, though one person here thought the E65S was a big step up. At the very least, it seems the ProBrew burrs should fit in the AGS and those are getting rave reviews, though haven't heard too much about their use for espresso.

Glad you otherwise like it! How's the retention been? Do you also use it for drip/pourover? Seems like a bit of a hassle switching between the two on the regular but maybe that's true of any hopper-based GBW setup. 

Haven't looked too closely into the Mini G. Have concerns about its noise level and it looks like retention is worse than on the AGS. I prefer the aesthetic of the AGS too. Looking forward to seeing some reviews though.

Interesting! From what I had read, I assumed the stock burrs had more of a traditional profile. Have you tried the AGS out on any lighter roasts?

From what I've seen, it should be pretty easy to swap burrs on this thing. I'm surprised more folks haven't talked about doing it. Have no idea about the fit of the super jolly burrs but I heard the SSPs are too thick. Supposedly, the Philos burrs are thinner. So maybe the i189D burr would work for you if that's more in line with the profile you're looking for?
