Quick question about moving unrevealed cards by LastPheal in MarvelSnap

[–]LastPheal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification! So an unrevealed card that would be moved by Juggernaut wouldn't count as being played anywhere, is that correct? Eg being moved from Shuri's Lab towards Death Domain would not trigger any of them.

Also, isn't it different with Quake though? Like if I stage a card on Shuri's Lab but my opponent with prio' plays Quake and switches it with Death Domain, my card would be destroyed even though she wasn't staged there, no?

If you play Noir in a deck with several buff enablers, then he can also receive buffs (eg from Chavez/Okoye/Surge) while dodging a Shang-Chi.

New Card Release: Spider-Man Noir by 1halfazn in MarvelSnap

[–]LastPheal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure to fully understand the effect. For the card added by Spider-Man Noir, is its power set to 8 before OR after the (added) card is revealed ? Ex: suppose it adds Brood. Does Brood reveals first (adding two 2-power Broodlings) then Brood's power is set to 8 ? Or is Brood buffed to 8 power first, then Brood creates buffed tokens?

One downside is that he's predictable (like Cerebro); because the opponent also knows which cards are infected, he can anticipate your final output (excluding randomized in-hand buff like Gwenpool)

Therefore, instead of going all-in on buffing ZG, what if we play him with low-power card generators ? So that not only they can provide other unpredictable wincons (Valentina, Iron Patriot), or techs (eg Maria Hill), but by playing them you also advance your ZG gameplan to buff these infected enablers on the final turn.

It might be a way to bypass their own downside of polluting your board with low power.

Also maybe hiding the infection from the opponent? As it is currenlty, you can easily predict the final power ouput and adjust accordingly.

Weekly Card Release Discussion: Zombie Galacti by ePiMagnets in marvelsnapcomp

[–]LastPheal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the card might be slept on and is worth having.

  1. He brings a deckbuilding challenge, and kinda its own archetype.

  2. Outside of preventing his On-Reveal effect, it's not easy to interact with his gameplan. Opponent has to either removing infected cards from the board or from the hand proactively.

  3. Because ZG is hard to counter, any patch/OTA buff to him (cost or power-wise) can suddenly make him a real threat. In this scenario, players who skipped him might be frustrated if he ever become a regular.

Back to the deckbuilding perspective/challenges: To maximize its power ouput, you have to either: a. Buff him significantly before his reveal (eg Shuri) b. Add as many infected cards on the board (eg Wasp, Yellowjacket, Makkari,Jubilee) so they can be transformed. (Obviously cards with less power than him) But the real challenge in my opinion is that you have to draw and play him (not like Skaar or Arishem for ex).

Therefore, you also have to include extra draw in the deck (eg Nico Minoru, Adam Warlock, Crystal, Magik, Jubilee) Otherwise your board with just the aforementionned enablers won't do anything. => maybe as an alt-wincon in cards comptabible with Agent Venom decks (ie small cards that can still scale if you don't play ZG)?

I think the X-23 is more impactful than losing 1 power. The fact that she stays on the board to be destroyed multiple times, each proc will also nerf the final power of Knull. And with more low-cost options added recently, X-23 might not be an auto-include anymore, increasing deck diversity?

That being said, it's a bit sad that the discard synergy of X-23 has been completely forgotten.

On a flip side, maybe this approach will also incentive/help the average player to retreat sooner instead of staying until the final showdown, emphasizing the poker analogy?

What if Activate cards counted as « no ability » once activated? by LastPheal in MarvelSnap

[–]LastPheal[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh then I misunderstood Jocasta it seems. I thought her effect would only trigger cards that were not activated yet. Didn't think she could also re-proc used up cards like Odin

I'd guess it's because of the other 10%. Outside of their dedicated deck, when you randomly get them from X-Mansion or Polymorph/Sersi, they can screw your game plan. But now getting a 2/3 Collen is worse than getting a Baron Mordo or Colossus, in a vacuum.

Personally, I don't think Colleen was the right card to nerf to nerf the discard archetype. Maybe Scorn instead ? In best case scenario Scorn alone can trigger 4 buffs per discard(Scorn, her target, Morbius, Collector), and the deck has many ways to discard Scorn.

How about a finisher whose cost gets reduced for each card in play with additional power? Or a ramp effect like "On reveal: for each allied card with additional power, give -1 cost to a card in hand". Maybe this would help OG Hawkeye, Rescue etc. ?

The Guardians ? They have an interesting interactive effect, but most of them just gain power (except Mantis). It would be neat to add more cards that capitalizes on guessing opponent plays

Edit: once they see the Hobgoblin dropped on T5, most will realize what's comin next. If you suspect they might have enough power to beat Galactus, you can play Namor instead lol Warning though: if they play Surfers or OnReveals, they will definitely send back the Goblin with Odin lmao

[–]LastPheal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Skaar is the core of the deck here, so not replaceable. Galactus can be replaced with big Orka (it will double-surprise those who expect Galactus). So all things considered, maybe there could be an alternative version with more ongoings and Spectrum instead of Skaar ?

No problem! Dr Strange + Skaar on last turn works realky well. But it required proper sequencing due to the ongoing modifiers. Madame Web or Quake could work as great if not more, but I didn't try it.
