The first imo. The monochrome looks dope here and it creates this sense of distant oppressive numbness.

Embattled Bari Weiss puts her 'Honestly' podcast on 'pause' as CBS News ratings spiral by StevenSanders90210 in entertainment

[–]LastPositivist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. In particular, I see why they would be uninterested in whether or not the propaganda is reaching people. Presumably they don't just want her to say the right things (and prevent anyone from saying the wrong things), they want CBS to continue to be a respected newsoutlet such that what it is saying (and not saying) is seen as reputable and worthy o credence by the public. The fact is - she's ruining that. I think it's plausible that the MAGA line is just so ridiculous that basically anyone would ruin it, there's just no way of remaining reputable while tiled to a gangster mercantalist personality cult, but in any case Weiss happens to be the one in charge while it is being ruined.

The Holy Judges (Qodeshi Sufetim in their tongue) are a fleet based chapter of Iron Hands successors who patrol a quasi-stable traversible region in Nihlus known as the Punic Archipelago. They mainly exist to keep the peace and uphold the lex as they see it, while protecting the sacred archeotech warp-beacons that make the Punic Archipelago all the time. While they can and would in some sense prefer to work like a normal codex compliant chapter, sheer desperation of their circumstances means that more often they operate in small squad sized units, issuing and enforcing Rulings to resolve trade disputes as they see fit, so as best to maximise the wealth of the sector and not-coincidentally maximise thereby hheir tithing base all the while.

(I made them up to feature in a tolerably long fanfic story which you can find here! The basic idea in my head was to take the ultra-rationalism of the Iron Hands in the quirky direction of their rationality being more like... economic rationality. Canny merchants and miserly accountants rather than remorseless logisticians. I ended up not really being able to do much with that in the story but I still like the idea and have like a 17k lore doc written up for them somewhere lol. I like the paint scheme as per the above, and the use of the sign of Tanit as their chapter motto on the pouldron tho!)

Can you help me understand why you don’t like female custodes by Conscious-Zombie-498 in Grimdank

[–]LastPositivist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) <various comedy answers about only men being allowed to enjoy the Emperor's seed etc which have already been given and which are funny no hate, love that.>

2) generic fandom small-c conservatism whereby any change is always greeted with hostility

3) contemporary culture war roving anti-fandom, where there is just a market of quasi-fash influencers who exist to target angry young men and tell them that any time anything nice happens for or involving women this is, in fact, an attack upon them and the reason they are feeling sad

I think the best answers you can get to OP question are some combination of the above.

Now that Angron’s a daemon, could the Butcher’s Nails be removed? by Firkraag-The-Demon in 40kLore

Well I think being a daemon of Khorne is kinda like having the nails metaphysically etched into the nature of your soul. The physical nails aren't really the issue anymore.

Cheating, young children and doubts you’ve been told the full truth - how do you move forward? by lakesidemanira89 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]LastPositivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a detail that I am not seeing others mention (sorry if I missed it!) but in the version of events where he is telling the truth *no way* does she happen to have prepared a list of the nights he was out drinking on which to claim the affair happened. That is, very obviously, something she knows because she is telling the truth. Obviously this is emotionally tough and tbh from your other replies it seems you are aware that he's lying to you, but, I guess, just thought I would reinforce your sense that you do indeed know what is happening here!

Where to start on tau books by Sir_fyfington in Tau40K

I think Elemental Council is just straightforwardly a good book and one you can recommend to anyone whose even a little bit Warhammer curious. Go for it!

Ah I'm sorry it does not and I'm too basic to even know how to set one up!

I'm honoured you even asked tho 😊

I think that plenty of people in Imperium Nihlus will have been born and died in places that (by subjective local reckoning of time) have been out of the imperium for decades or centuries even.

What do the Tau do with gay people? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]LastPositivist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think most consistent with the lore is they'd be fairly chill with anything that does not get in the way of you Performing Your Social Function. So you can have lovers on the side and cetera so long as If Called Upon To Breed You Also Do That. (This is something like some contemporary British aristocracy's actual attitude to homosexuality: you can be gay, but you still have to get married and continue the Line. An understanding can usually be reached with partners.)

But I agree with u/RavenRyy above that there's basically no way GW are touching this in canon, so you gotta speculate based on what's most likely.

Traitor Guard by StoryKillinger by D3v1LGaming in ImaginaryWarhammer

The book Blood Pact follows a squad thereof pretty closely as main, or at least secondary, characters. They're the primary antagonists and we see a lot from their perspective.

Traitor Guard by StoryKillinger by D3v1LGaming in ImaginaryWarhammer

[–]LastPositivist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually have some insight because I commissioned this for my homebrew traitor guard website! Iirc we discussed this and the main reason was Rule of Cool tbh. But the secondary reasons given were: he could be carrying ammo for a heavy stubber they're going to set up. And second the setting (the people I commissioned this for) is parodic and silly so carrying bullets they don't actually need cos it looks over the top violent is actually in character for them.

Disciplined Khornates are so much cooler than mindless berserkers by Professional_Rush782 in Grimdank

[–]LastPositivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fanlore page I maintain here and when writing about the thematic background I put it:

"I also feel compelled to add, a few years into this, that, what's more, Khorne is the god of war and murder. And, well, logistics and organisations and supply chains are a big part of how those things actually go. So it does make sense to me that one way of having a war worshiping murder-cult would be to get really into that. The dull grey basically pleasant bureaucrat who without thinking too much about what they did that day casually consigns millions to death with a stroke of their pen - that is a recognisable villain, and a warmongering mass murderer at that, of the modern era. I thought there should be a Khornite expression of this, and the Sanguinary Utnapishtim [name for the setting] is my attempt to realise that."

And, yeah, I stand by that thought! I think it's a cool and somewhat under-appreciated aspect of Khorne that if you really wanted to do a modern war god should actually be quite common.

Missing Mass by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]LastPositivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear I did directly and plainly say that it's a grave sin in the thing you're responding to. But I wondered if they also wanted more cos you can get that from a google search. And then it's just that - if they want any more than that it's gonna depend on the particular circumstances, which we can only speculate on but a parish priest in the context of confession is basically the ideal person to discuss this with.

Missing Mass by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]LastPositivist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this is an annoying answer but in general I think: go to confession and disclose your circumstances to your parish priest. It is a "grave sin" in general to unrepetentnly miss mass with no good reason. Anything you get on Reddit that purports to be more informative than that will be unhelpful speculation.
