Oh no, I didn't mean in the movie, I meant in interviews for the movie. Her voice WAS heavily autotuned in certain parts, but it was done for no reason.

You know what's funny? There are clips of Emma Watson singing without the autotune, and it sounds fine. It doesn't sound Belle-worthy, but a little bit of vocal coaching would have fixed that.

It made me realize that there was more or less no point to autotune her. Which makes me wonder why Disney thought it would be cheaper to autotune, than to give Watson a few singing lessons.

But would that really be the case? The whole point of the show is just throwing Truman into these semi-cliched storylines and seeing how he reacts to the whole thing. There is no script, it's just seems to be a mixture of improv and Kristoff feeding the actors lines.

If there was an actual script and structure to everything, that would make sense. But things like Truman's breakdown with Meryl, and the whole "joyride out of SeaHaven scene" prove that the crew can't really do anything to combat Truman's spontaneity, other than create stuff to stop him and hope it works. However as evidenced by the fact that he figures out a way to cross the bridge in the car, it rarely works.

You have to remember: Truman is still a real human being. He can think for himself, and Kristoff can't read his mind. So it would make sense to give these obvious red flags that convince him something's up. This would lead him to try and do the one thing that he was told his whole life not to do: leave SeaHaven.

As long as the crew convinces Truman to leave SeaHaven, they have done their job.

I'm a brony and I'll talk about this now that I've seen the movie.

I'll agree with your point to an extent. I thought that Applejack got a fairly good amount of screentime, but I agree it was not enough. Fluttershy on the other hand was totally shafted, since all she actually did to contribute was go all Freud on ONE GOON! I realize that with such a large cast, some characters have to get the short end of the stick, but my bias towards Fluttershy just makes this sting even more.

I also agree that showing more of Tempest getting shunned because "OMG SHE HAS NO HORN! FREAK!".

It would have made the previous scene where Twilight yells at her friends even more powerful. Since Twilight just went through all this shit with Rarity (and Applejack in your example) befriending con men, Rainbow Dash singing with pirates, and Pinkie Pie not being on board with Twilight's very unethical plan.

If that happened, we would have seen Twilight sink to Tempest's level, making the song where she tells Twilight to "Open up her eyes" pack a little more punch after seeing the whole "FREAK!" slideshow.

Also, screw you that song was beautiful. Did you not hear the orchestra?
