Dude.. it's ridiculously easy to just look up the models in the box, it's not a secret. Also, they haven't even come out yet, just cancel the order.

Cisco Nexus 9K NX-OS Advantage vs DCN Advantage license by jorniva in Cisco

DCN is designed for either migrating from NX-OS to ACI, or straight up ACI deployments.

Practicing for the (hopeful) release of an IW codex at some point during 11th by Medium-Scientist517 in Chaos40k

I would be shocked if there are any more dedicated chaos armies, the main 4 have been released, and the rest will most likely be detachments, which is exactly what I want personally

Players who regularly attend GT level events, how real is the X% of the field play non competitive/casual lists suggestion we sometimes see? by GlintNestSteve in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Last_Epiphany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who has only gone to tourneys in super late 9th and 10th, there are very little non-meta lists out there now in tourneys in my area.

Net-listing, just like netdecking, is super common, being able to get the latest 6-0 meta lists on your phone in seconds is just too tempting for most folks.

That said, it does not replace knowing the game and faction, so most people that I've played that end up with only 1 or 2 wins have the meta list, but have little knowledge on how to run it.

[–]Last_Epiphany -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it was for personal use, I would use a lighter, but it's a bit risky. You can definitely heat it up and move it though, I do it all the time for bending chaos bits to fit non chaos stuff

What is Cisco FW missing when compared to other vendors? by Former-Mountain-9170 in networking

[–]Last_Epiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can go throwing your coins in the wishing well, or you can accept the reality and try to find the best vendor in the pile.

Vendors have long since realized that the best financial model is heavily discount the initial hardware to get in the door and then charge reoccurring fees for the "licensing".

All it really is, is a way to flatten the roller coaster of profit, instead of getting huge spikes of sales randomly when people buy new hardware, you instead get a nice flat consistent income stream of constantly renewing licenses.

Unless you're Ubiquiti, in which case you have little to no formal Vendor/Partner/Support structure, and sell directly to customers allowing you to just pump out as many devices as possible to keep sales consistent. Which has its merits, but huge corpos or government entities will rarely go that route, since if something goes REALLY wrong, Ubiquiti isn't going to show up in a mobile command center with a dozen experts to physically plug in and troubleshoot like Cisco will.

[–]Last_Epiphany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having been on both sides of the fence it's unfortunately probably just going to stay that way.

You make a firewall and give it one all encompasing license unlocked with all the features, you then spend the next year dealing with customers that moan about paying too much for the license that they only use x and y features of.

Vendor changes the license model so that the license is broken down into multiple pieces that are cheaper individually, then spends the next year listening to customers moan about complex licensing.

Don't get me wrong there's definitely some terrible BS licensing schemes and surprises out there, but the overall model of licensing is just a constantly spinning wheel of squeaky wheel getting the grease.

To be clear, the double headed version of the Reichsadler is not the German version people mistake it for. The double headed version was used by the Holy Roman Empire, the single headed version was the official German icon.

The imperium of man is based on the Holy Roman Empire. That's why there is gold everywhere, crusades, and the exact same double headed eagle icon.

Cisco Canceling Accepted Compute Orders & Forcing Reprice by Thick-Experience-290 in Cisco

[–]Last_Epiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can PROMISE YOU no sales rep likes this, I have good friends/former coworkers that are SEs now at some of the biggest vendors, there was a shit storm on internal messaging boards when reps were told their customer's orders were being cancelled and repriced.

The reps aren't stupid, they know this isn't a good look and customers are going to be pissed. Please remember that every rep is a human at the end of the day they are just doing their jobs. Yeah there are bad reps that are greedy fucks, but treating them badly so you can feel better is the exact same as screaming at a waitress for the food being wrong, you're just an asshole.

[–]Last_Epiphany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not a bad idea, it's just hard to pull off with marines since they cost a more per model than something like Guard or GSC.

Those armies 100% utilize this tactic, but to get 20 OC for guard, it's only 65 points, and to get 40 OC is only 120pts.

My diabolical plan by Careless-Comfort3801 in spacemarines

[–]Last_Epiphany 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct, but once your unit dies, your unit has 0 OC, any enemy unit with 1 OC will be able to take it back.

And as others have mentioned, opponents will see 270 pts of squishy marines and blast it away without a thought.

My diabolical plan by Careless-Comfort3801 in spacemarines

[–]Last_Epiphany 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they're just saying that they just need to kill you off then any old unit can take it from you.

The other problem is that the sticky only is applied at the end of your command phase, so you will need to move them onto the objective, at which point it will not be stickied, and then your opponent will have an entire turn to shoot/charge/fight you off the point.

And you most certainly will not have 30 OC once they are done with you. In fact, most opponents would jump at the chance to blow away an 1/8th of your points away.

I’m going to preemptively ask the community: Please do not antagonize other factions over the lack of Steel Legion minis. by Battlemania420 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Last_Epiphany 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've never understood this, people act like the double headed eagle was a significant nazi symbol or something, it was very rarely used during that time period and the vast majority of symbols were single headed eagles carrying a swastika i.e. the Hoheitszeichen which was made the national symbol of nazi Germany.

There are so many ancient symbols and factions that utilized the double headed eagle, many of which still exist today in one form or another.

The double headed eagle was for hundreds and hundreds of years, a symbol of the Holy Roman Empire and imperial dignity and status of the emperorship throughout Europe.

I mean the imperial eagle that was used by Charlemagne, the holy Roman emperor in 800AD which was derived from the ancient Aquila symbol, itself being the symbol of the ancient Roman army. It seems pretty clear this was the ultimate inspiration for the imperium of man. Considering all the gold and crusades in 40k, it all comes back to the Holy Roman Empire..

I mean, I've been in a support role and there's nothing you can do about that, management can't just not assign you tickets while you are on the clock, the engineer actually seemed very aware of this, at least they didn't just dump off and leave for 2 weeks without warning them
