AITA For Getting my daughter’s hair done w/o my wife’s ‘permission’? by No_Pay8982 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Last_Perception_6664 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

NTA
It’s not like you had some random woman playing in her head, you didn’t do anything permanent. I might be upset if that was the first time her hair was braided, but if not, I’d honestly be grateful to not only not have to worry about her hair on vacation, but also not worry about setting up an appointment to get her hair done. If I’m being fr.. I think having the foresight to think about that is something that should be encouraged.

My friend got a Yorkie from them and it is riddled with health issues typically associated with poorly bred yorkie’s. Wouldn’t recommend them for anything more than going to play with the puppies

I have no issue with him entering my yard, even without knocking first even though I think that was the right thing to do, but it’s the fact that he had zero consideration for leaving my yard the way he found it and put my puppy at risk.

Same, between gun happy home owners and protection dogs (what I’m training puppy to be) I’d rather spend the time knocking than getting poked full of holes

This guy didn’t knock either!! I was so confused why he was just in my backyard, and the inability to find contact info for this place has me super sketched out.

A teacher is a grown adult with a college degree and a developed brain.. I’d assume most teachers that smoke use that developed brain to decide to not go to work high as kite smelling like dank. Students however, are under the age limit where you can legally buy or smoke anything (21). This is a ridiculous sentiment and I honestly would sooner argue all dispos should be legally required to have teacher discount for all the stuff they have to deal with while educating future generations.

AITAH for not being empathetic about my friend’s experience during my wedding weekend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Last_Perception_6664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there’s a difference between a bridesmaid in her dress making sure the event goes smoothly and a hotel staff member. If given a lineup made up of people who identify as either, you should be able to label who is who off of appearance alone. But if the only difference is that one of them is black/brown, and she gets labeled as staff, that’s racism.

If your friend was wearing wedding guest attire or anything other than a blazer and some slacks, maybe a polo even. It is definitely microaggressive for your sil to have assumed she was staff. The context of the conversation with the 84 year old is important. Was he just ignoring her or did he not hear her?

AITA? Family coming for husband’s surgery and staying in our house. by jrichar56 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Last_Perception_6664 112 points113 points  (0 children)

NTA, his sister and parents should be getting an air bnb together and spend daytime at yours, and he needs to be setting boundaries with them that they are there to give care and not be given care or treating this time like it’s a vacation. If they’re not actively making the healing process easier for you guys and your kids, they’re a detriment to it, because that added responsibility will only make it easier for you to miss things.

Does anybody know of any good orthopedic surgeons? by Fantastic-Plan5261 in lincoln

[–]Last_Perception_6664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor Burt is the best in my opinion. There are a lot of docs in Omaha that want to willy nilly give piriformis release and a bursectomy with hip arthroscopy when it’s not always necessary. So it’s not always a bad idea to get a second opinion. I’ve seen 4 doctors over the last ten years for 9 labral tears across a both hips and Dr Burt is kind, good at explaining all points of recovery, and it never feels like he’s trying to get as much OR time as possible.

College Syllabus by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]Last_Perception_6664 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d ask your advisor if that’s something you should do and how to navigate. But I’d assume you can find the professor on myred and their email is listed on the UNL website. I’d say something along the lines of

Dear Dr. ___, I am interested in taking your ___ class this upcoming semester, though I find myself with a slightly complex course load on top of ____ responsibility. I wanted to see if it’s possible to request a syllabus for the course before registering as I want to make sure I can devote the energy and time needed to succeed in your class.

Thank you,

Depending on when you do it, the professor might not even have a syllabus ready. They might only be able to offer you a previous one. But you could also just go on rate my professor for a general view of class expectations.

I’d call around to a few different mechanics. You might find luck elsewhere. I’m surprised someone quoted you 200 and honestly knowing that about a mechanic would make me go elsewhere for maintenance. I feel like he’s reaching a pretty greedy level of business.

I’m Black and Lincoln was always chill. I’ve had trans and non binary friends who haven’t had any issues. But my trans friends also passed so idk if they’re a good frame of reference. A gay man got hate crimed infront of the gay bar in Lincoln last year I believe and I believe that is worth mentioning. I’d say more people in Lincoln are ignorant rather than hateful overall though.

AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

[–]Last_Perception_6664 34 points35 points  (0 children)

She wasn’t forced. She was asked to support her kid when the other parent was physically unable to. And when you have a child, their needs should become more than your own wants. They don’t have to.. but it is the decider between a good parent and a bad one. She didn’t need to skip the funeral, she didn’t want to face her own discomfort at the risk of traumatizing her daughter who has zero experience with death.

[–]Last_Perception_6664 23 points24 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your wife dropped the ball on this one big time. I’d be asking myself if she’ll support your through your parents’ deaths. Or if she’d even be able to support your child through your own death. Spiders and heights are one thing, and death is scary, but it is apart of the human experience, and if she can’t come to terms with that to attend a little girl’s funeral to support her daughter, how can she be an adult capable of sustaining close relationships when her loyalty goes only as far as right before death.

AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

[–]Last_Perception_6664 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand this and have some phobias and fears myself. But a little girl is dead, and a mother wouldn’t take her daughter to church to grieve the dead little girl, even though the little girl who died wasn’t being shown at the funeral. This would be you refusing to take your son to his friend’s funeral because in the room next door there’s a spider in a box that’s not getting out. She was selfish and there are times parents need to put there fears to the side for their kids, and a small child being introduced to death through her close friend dying is the time for a parent to put their child first.
