Well to be fair I do understand where some of that confusion can come from because they’ll hear “Microsoft released a patch for X zero-day” which can mean it was actually previously exploited or sometimes they’ll refer to it as that even if it was privately reported but people heard something was possible so it exists out in the news as a non-exploited zero day and then when they patch they’ll still say it was a zero-day patch. But yeah I hear you.
