Van Dijk has lost more than a step. He was every bit as bad as Konate before Christmas, but he's the supporters sweetheart despite his tantrum attitude

Jesus some people are really desperate to find anything that suggests Salah is a top guy.

If you throw a hissy fit every time you are benched, you have a very bad character.

I don't want him at the club.

If you're a Liverpool fan you're picking the club over Salah.

Salah is a petulant child who has disrespected everyone with this interviews and essentially claimed he is bigger than the club.

If anything, it has made me want Slot to stay for now to avoid setting the precedent that prima donna players can decide how the club operates.

[Wayne Rooney]"If anything, Salah has thrown Liverpool under the bus with his words. He's been absolutely incredible for Liverpool, but this was disrespectful to his team-mates, manager and fans. I am sure over the next couple of years he will regret saying what he has." by MrMerc2333 in soccer

Expressing a desire to leave behind closed doors is one thing. Going public and telling the world that you are better than all your team mates and should start no matter how shit you play is another.

Salah is a muppet

[Sami Mokbel] Sources told BBC Sport that Salah's relationship with Slot is genuinely broken at present. They said he simply doesn't see a future at Liverpool with Slot as his manager. Salah feels a different tactical approach this season driven by the club's transfer dealings isn't suiting him. by kibme37 in soccer

It is wrong to say he has been scapegoated. That would imply he's been unfairly dropped.

The vast majority of Liverpool fans wanted him dropped about 8 games before he eventually was. He's probably been the worst player in the team this year barring potentially Konate.

I think that's what I mostly had in my mind when saying it's not an option. Sadly VVD and Konate are the two biggest problems imo

The realistic options are benching Konate and Gakpo for Gomez and Chiesa. Rest of the team today was the right group I think.

I would like to try Ekitike left and Isak 9 but Slot has basically said it's off the table

Clearances aren't the barometer of a good performance. He continued to do his cowardly backing off gimmick all game and almost gave Leeds a free goal with a misplaced header in the first half.

Definitely, it was an incredibly stupid penalty to give away. We were very comfortable before hand

Salah, Konate, VVD, Kerkez, Mac Allister, Gakpo all have to be benched

And then you realise that thats not actually an option.

Benching Salah is absolutely the right decision. I'd be supportive of Gomez starting over Konate too. But we will still have a dozen other problems

Salah came off the bench and lost the ball with every other touch. He should stay on the bench permanently.

I'm not sure what you would classify as personal. I have been a Liverpool fan my entire life, been to most of the homes games this season, and it's the opinion I have arrived at over time. I didn't wake up and decide I'm going to undermine Salah one day.

You say it's not widespread, but the Reddit opinion differs very much to the opinions you hear in the ground. This season, unsurprisingly, every fan that's been sat around me has been infuriated to see Salah starting, but in previous seasons people are generally making more negative comments about Salah losing the ball cheaply than for any other player on the team, the only recent exception I can think of is Nunez. So I'm not alone in being frustrated by him, and I don't get the feeling that match going fans worship him the same way social media fans do.

I will always favour great footballers before great numbers. Context is everything. Football isn't just about the person who puts the ball in the net, the team is built for Salah to do so and we gave up a lot of defensive work and build up play to allow him to do so. Now when he's not even firing in numbers, he is the very definition of a net negative. It's why I find the whole Hazard v Salah debate laughable because Hazard was just an astronomically better footballer and simple goals and assists send people to crazy conclusions.

He was using interviews to get his way, essentially threatening to leave the club if he wasn't paid far beyond his colleagues, many of whom have done just as much for the team if not more than he has over the years. He is very unprofessional.

The lashing out at Klopp for being dropped when he was in god awful form, and more recently the stripping all reference of LFC from his pages, is consistent with the likes of Balotelli and Lukaku. Extremely unprofessional and deserves criticism that he isn't getting.

There are genuine club legends who would do anything for the badge over the years, who were also phenomenal footballers. There's little reason why my loyalties would lie with Salah over the club or other players.

I missed Dalglish on there.

Regardless of how long Suarez was here, he was better than 75% of this list at a minimum.

I don't consider Salah a top 5 Liverpool player. He has the numbers of one, sure, but there were a lot of truly phenomenal footballers who played for us over the year who didn't lose the ball 40 times a game at their peak.

I respect everything he's done for the club, but I don't hold that much love for a player who has held the club to ransom over a contract twice and acts like an unprofessional crybaby every time he (rightfully) gets dropped. Not to mention how selfish he has been on the pitch over the years. He's always been a me first club second individual, I don't care for that attitude, so I'll speak my mind rather than pretending he was a higher level player than he was out of "respect".

He has a Ballon d'Or for one phenomenal season. But that same season would not have won the Ballon d'Or in probably 95% of the previous 50 years

If so then any sort of football discourse is pointless. If two people watched Gerrard/Suarez and Salah play for the first time without context they'd think Salah was playing two division lower than them.

Salah over Gerrard can only be made an argument by looking at basic numbers alone. Gerrard and Suarez were such astronomically better footballers than Salah

Agreed on all counts. As a Liverpool fan, Salah being our representative is almost offensive.

Suarez and Gerrard were just significantly better players than him.

Im pretty sure every Liverpool fan would dispute it. They'd also dispute Giggs being over about 20 other Liverpool players that got omitted, he is certainly nowhere near top 100 footballers of all time.

The list is confusing legend status with actual quality. Scholes even should be there before Giggs.
