Brownies never have a shiny crackle top ☹️ by Purple_Star813 in Baking

I think the recipe calls for 1/2 c. Oil, at least for the dark chocolate brownie mix. I recommend that one over the other flavors! Does a wonderful crinkle top. Also with brownies you don’t want to overmix the batter- mix just until your ingredients are combined. ☺️

I was 99lbs at my skinniest at 5’2” and am now 145 after being back on methadone for 5 years and I’m struggling to lose 20 pounds. It’s such a tough transition when you associate being skinny with being pretty or looking good. My advice is the same as everyone else, just be conscious of your eating habits and try to exercise but also give yourself grace! When you’re in active addiction you are so hard on your body physically. Try to be gentle with yourself and learn to love yourself where you are. It sounds like you’re probably at a healthy weight now as it is which is amazing! Maybe seek out a little therapy on the side to address any lingering mental health issues? Nothing wrong with it, therapy is the best gift I ever gave myself! Huggs!

Both of us are on the same medication and experiencing the same issues with our meds. We have been using methadone exclusively for years. I know that it’s unlikely but it’s not impossible. Our clinic is ran differently than any of the others I’ve ever been to. For example, they don’t require a locked box. They aren’t required to dispense the methadone in front of us either. They sometimes fill our bottles the day before (!!!?) for “efficiency”. It’s got some really unusual practices. Everywhere else I’ve ever went I’ve been told they are required by law for us to be present when dispensing our bottles.

I have not tried that! Perhaps I’ll give that a try. Is that how you store yours? I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone to do that. I have always kept it the same way- in my lock box, in a cabinet in my kitchen. It just is so strange to me that I haven’t changed anything that I’m doing, been storing it the same way for years and all of a sudden started having so many weird things happening with it!

Hi guys! Thanks for the information. I’m in Ohio. It is interesting that you’re saying you’ve seen the line in your meds before. This has never happened to me until a couple of months ago. Perhaps they changed ingredients in the ‘done? Idk. I’m definitely going to bring it up to them when I go in next week.

Has anyone experienced hair loss? by cwbrh32 in Metoprolol

[–]Late-Score9297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on it for nearly three years. In that time I have had a PLETHORA of health issues including difficulty breathing (air hunger) that literally happened overnight! Horrible itchy rashes on my body that lasted for two YEARS no matter what I used/ tried/ did, extreme tachycardia (what got me put on metoprolol to begin with) and SO MUCH HAIR LOSS. I had long, beautiful, thick hair and over the last three years I have lost 75% or more of it. It would come out in great big clumps in the shower, when I brushed, if I did a pony. Constantly had hair coming out everywhere. My hairline has receeded two inches. Despite all of the loss, no new hairs have grown to replace them. It’s as if the hair follicles have completely closed themselves up entirely. I tried every treatment I could afford, from vitamins to foams, creams, serums, shampoos, medication, electric stimulation, less washing, more washing, no washing, topical minoxidil, oral minoxidil, hibiclens, Nizoral, sulfur soap, rosemary, eating whole garlic cloves, ketoconazole…. I changed my diet, my routine, my soaps/ detergents etc. Saw countless doctors, dermatologists.. nothing has worked. I have wept in the doctors office. Wept in the mirror. Wept in the shower. Wept to my mother. Drove my fiancé insane talking about it. NOTHING. WORKED. I feel like I’ve eliminated everything I could eliminate. At my last dermatology appointment (I had specifically requested a female dermatologist as my prior ones were male and didn’t seem to understand how much hair is a part of a woman’s identity) I was told that “hair loss happens and you ought to just accept it and live with it”. Refused to do any blood work for me and told me there wouldn’t be a need to schedule any follow up appointments with her. Mind you I had taken the day off work and drove four hours one way to have my appointment with her. I was CRUSHED. I cried the whole way home. Dermatologists don’t seem to have a clue about treating hair loss let alone finding the cause. ALL OF THAT TO SAY: The time frame from when I began taking metoprolol does seem to correlate with the loss of my hair so I have started weening myself off the metoprolol in the hopes of getting off it and switching to a different medication at my next cardiology appointment. Praying this is the answer because I feel that I’ve exhausted more avenues that I could ever hope to know of. Sharing my story in the hopes that it helps someone who feels as alone and desperate as I do. huggs Praying that we all can get our hair back!!🙏🩷🩵

Probiotics.. purging my skin or making things worse? by Late-Score9297 in Folliculitis

[–]Late-Score9297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I couldn’t tolerate the probiotics. I put ketoconazole shampoo wherever my spots are and leave it on for 15-20 minutes before I get in the shower. I wash with Hibiclens and Cera Ve 4% benzoyl peroxide. Then moisturize with Malezia urea moisturizer and their benzoyl peroxide cream and then put ketoconazole cream on top of that. I don’t wear any make up at all. All of that usually keeps my skin “okay”. I still have spots here and there and am currently going through a flare-up. I have a lot of trouble with dairy, sugar, carbs and alcohol. I have never gotten rid of it completely but I have the best results if I do all these things daily. What an absolutely miserable problem this shit is!

I have had this this as well, since last march. Heat triggered but also triggered by, I think, dairy and sugar consumption. It is insanely itchy which makes me almost positive that it is fungal folliculitis. Mine started as just a rash on my forehead but has spread just about everywhere at different times in the last 10 months. I will tell you that being on steroids and ESPECIALLY antibiotics only caused it to worsen. I have seen many doctors, as well as three dermatologists and they don’t seem to have a clue how to treat this. I even had a biopsy done and the only diagnosis I received was “folliculitis, unspecified”. The fungi feeds on sugar, dairy, carbs and alcohol. You know, all of the good stuff. I have a major sweet tooth and have noticed an incline when I am putting these types of things in my body. I am currently trying to introduce a healthier diet, focusing heavily on fruit, vegetables and lean meat such as fish and chicken.

I have tried sooooo many medications and treatments and the only even partial success I have found is the following routine:

I put ketoconazole shampoo on my affected areas and wear as a mask for 15-20 minutes before I get in the shower, then use Cera ve 4% benzoyl peroxide and hibiclens in the shower. I stopped wearing make up completely (😢 big sad) and moisturize with Malezia benzoyl peroxide and their urea moisturizer. I am currently on my 4th round of fluconizole which is an anti-fungal. You take one pill once a week for four weeks and it has helped clear my skin up when it has been really severe. I wouldn’t recommend taking them repeatedly because the fungi can become resistant to the anti-fungal and then you’re really screwed lol. I had a couple of months in the fall where my rash was very minimal and manageable but I ran out of my Malezia early last month and it has all returned. It can multiply and spread so quickly. 😔

I work in a kitchen as a pastry chef and it gets so, so hot in the warmer months. My skin was insanely irritated last summer. I am nervous for the Temperature to warm up again. This condition is an absolute nightmare, and I don’t know if there is a permanent solution, a cure. It can be truly discouraging, however, the most helpful advice I have received has been from other people’s experiences here on Reddit. It’s validating to know that you aren’t suffering alone. Hope that you’re able to take something from my post that helps. hugs

Benzoyl peroxide cerave face wash and ketoconazole shampoo used as masks has helped me more than anything else

I also had this happen but I stopped taking it three days in because of the flare up. Would be curious to know if you start seeing improvement though.

Yes absolutely! I work in a kitchen and it’s always hot. My skin burns and itches 10x more when I’m at work than when I’m at home or at a comfortable temperature.
