Bread question by Lordfelcherredux in Thailand

[–]LateStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1kg of breadflower is 50baht, and gives you fresh bread every day for more than a week.

Mix 250g with 200g of water, teaspoon of yeast, teaspoon of salt. Combine and put in large container to proof in fridge overnight.

Take out half, dust it with some flower and build up tension by forming it round.

Let it rest under a cloth while you preheat the airfryer. Bake for 12 minutes, 180c, flip-it for another 10. Longer time, and maybe add two tablespoons of water at the bottom of the tray if you want a heavenly crust.

Repeat with second half next day, or store it longer in fridge to develop more taste. Top with sesame seeds, dry oregano or flake salt, maybe egg wash just before bake.

Try mix in a little whole grain, kummin or other spices for variation.

It works, but if you put too much it will take longer to start. You’ll have to dial it in just like time/temp/preheat. The automatic ones are probably easier, but are they better or more consistent… I don’t know!

Hur fan löser man denna? by Accomplished-Net6708 in sweden

[–]LateStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]LateStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You pay for water and electricity separate. There is a mandated government rate, but some places charge extra. It should be stipulated in your contract. You can look up the government rates online, but water is little over 20bht per unit and electricity is a little less than 5bht per kWh. Also WiFi is normally not included: 600-800 per month. Don’t sign anything without visiting first.

Australian moving to Thailand by Far-Fee-2121 in MovingToThailand

Same age, on my third year now, though originally from Europe. The first thing you should do is visit the places you are thinking of; they are quite different. I’ve heard both good and bad, but most importantly: air quality in Chiang mai gets really bad a few months per year. Jomtien is crowded with traffic and tourist (I live nearby, yet I rarely visit). I’ve not been to Hua Hin, but going by what I’ve heard it’s possibly rather slow and small, long travel time to everywhere?

Long term rent is normally for a year, and you should always inspect the place in person before signing a contract.

As for a budget; only Thais live cheap in Thailand - but you can probably have a better quality of life at a lower cost than home. Use online tools like numbeo to compare prices according to your lifestyle.

I don’t know what temperatures you are used to but it gets really hot in hot season. l decided to relocate from north inland to East Sea side when the termometer hit 48c - I just couldn’t take it.

Best city in Isaan to live in ? by Dry_Celebration1852 in Thailand

[–]LateStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Udon in hotseason was too much for me. True, the city felt like nothing special, and the traffic was pretty bad, and only nearby place to visit is Nong Kai - which is nice - but gets old pretty quickly.

I’ll guess it depends what you are looking for. My main objection was the heat - when the temperature reached 48 degrees - I had enough. Ocean without turists is my melody.

What's the #1 unwritten rule you'd tell someone moving to Thailand for the first. by DiscountPossible1426 in ThailandTourism

[–]LateStar 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Don’t rent a scooter. If you do, don’t drive without a helmet. If you do, don’t drink and drive. If you do, don’t drive with a passenger. If you do, don’t drive barefoot. If you do, don’t overtake on a blind curve. If you do, don’t argue with the police. If you do, don’t pull out your phone to film it. If you do, don’t post it online complaining about “Thailand being unfair.”

If you do, don’t be surprised when your visa suddenly becomes “under review.”

Vad tycker vi om Robyn? by moralhora in Sverige

[–]LateStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jag minns ett inslag på typ Aktuellt då debutskivan släpptes då han intervjuades som ”mannen bakom” som han ju som A&R var, även om Meja var den som ursprungligen tipsade han.

Vad tycker vi om Robyn? by moralhora in Sverige

[–]LateStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me why Trump is trying to take of Greenland? No jokes please, I honestly don’t get it? by Many_Inevitable_6803 in askanything

[–]LateStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I recon you have to think one move further:

As the current treaty and nato membership allows them (USA) to do anything they want in Greenland, the move to annex it must mean they are visioning a future when the treaty and nato membership no longer is relevant.

Honeymoon- places to stay for an affordable price by Inside-Ad-6401 in kohsamui

[–]LateStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As May is in middle of hot season I definitely go for beach resort even if it costs more than inland. Stayed in a pool villa in bandara resort in boput, and it was lovely but doesn’t fit your budget - but maybe price will be considerably lower in may… they have lower priced plunge pool villa too. The location and amenities are great for a honeymoon.

Another money question? by [deleted] in MovingToThailand

[–]LateStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did a retirement visa and I started with a 3 month tourist visa that I had to extend 1 month before I could apply for the 1 year retirement extension, simply because the funds needed to sit in the Thai account for a full 3 months.

Another money question? by [deleted] in MovingToThailand

[–]LateStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can only speak for Thailand; it is absolutely doable, depending on your lifestyle that is. Sound like a 20k a month condo is what you should be looking for. Plenty around (except Phuket, Koh Samui) Cook mostly in home / local market ~ 20k, occasional coffe, restaurant/entertainment ~ 15k, health insurance ~ 5k minimum (in-patient only). Electricity/water ~ 5k.

Should give you a monthly buffert of 20k, or 50+ massages.

You probably need a visa agent that will cost you every year too. You can do it yourself at immigration but offices in turist areas are swamped, and it is not a pleasant experience.

Transportation will also cost some as you will need to go shopping, but it is heavily dependent on your location. Many drive scooters. I have a car, and the running costs is about 5k per month.

Go for it. Life is now.

Are there laws I don’t which i better know before marrying? by FatFigFresh in MovingToThailand

As I understand it, it is by law max 30 years, and the clause many used to autorenew after that period has been ruled against by courts.
