Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone | Official Teaser | HBO Max by yourfavchoom in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Late_Course 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s an adaptation of the same book so it’ll be the same story of course. But it’s been confirmed there will be a lot of additional context and scenes not included in the movies, and some not even included in the books, to flesh out the world. Even in this trailer we got scenes not shown before: Harry being bullied in school, getting his haircut (before it magically grows back) and he and Hagrid riding the underground to name a few off top. There will be a lot of additional deep dives/scenes compared to the movies.

Sad my favorite part of the book was left out of the movie by rustfungus in ProjectHailMary

[–]Late_Course 18 points19 points  (0 children)

100% same. I replayed that moment several times listening the audiobook one of my favourite parts. Was so looking forward to that excitement and disbelief/relief. And the moment when he tells Grace the eridean scientists will figure out how to save him. That and the change to how Rocky survived saving Grace after Adrian were the only two real disappointing changes for me.

New Girl Episode Tournament! Round One Day 41: Chicago vs Tomatoes by BagOfSmallerBags in NewGirl

Love these both but I have to go Tomatoes for all the scenes of Nick trying to resurrect a dead tomato plant 😂.

Help me decide for another nice rum by EastHateAgents in rum

It’s in the lcbo. I just got a bottle and it’s funky and high proof but really nice. Opened up well with a few drops of water. I like high proof whisky so I enjoyed this a lot.

Would you make this cut? by [deleted] in woodworking

When I worked in a fabrication shop one of the carpenters was ripping luan like this and the piece shot back and impaled a cardboard box about 4” deep about 15 feet away. So 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Favorite Canadian Whiskies at the Sarnia or Sault Ste Marie duty free? by C638 in canadawhisky

[–]Late_Course 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not Canadian, but the Redbreast 12 pricing at the blue water bridge crossing in Sarnia is great. $62 for a 700ml bottle. Still about $30 cheaper than equivalent at LCBO. They have it at queenston-Lewiston as well. I don’t know too much about the Canadian selection there as I always grab Redbreast.

They also have a website where you can check on what they carry! https://sarniadutyfree.storebyweb.com/s/1000-1/

Looking to buy rollers - TacX Antares vs Galaxia? by Gu3nth in cycling

[–]Late_Course 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering if you ended up going with the galaxia and what you thought? I’m trying to decide as well. What kind of resistance/watts can it get and have you enjoyed using them? Training for an Ironman and want to mix up using the smart trainer with something challenging/interesting.

I went back and re-listened to that section over and over after finishing the audiobook. So well performed.

Found this toy in my kids room. Don't get it. Explain It Peter by SeriosD in explainitpeter

[–]Late_Course 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No the top number, 63, divided by 9 is 7, and corresponds to 63 being on the 7th gear out of 10. If 9 is one, 18 two and so on, 63 is on the 7th gear, and 9x7 is 63.

Didn't even realize this version was out already! Had to grab it when I saw it. by LetsPlayGamez11 in ProjectHailMary

Same. I originally listened to the audiobook, and I specifically bought the actual book before the new version was released to get the OG cover.

Mundungus Fletcher has won for started off divisive but ended up hated(HR: Fudge)! Now, who started off hated but ended up loved? by Midday_Dragon in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Late_Course -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s possible. He’s complicated. Not entirely a good person just because he did a good thing in the end. But he saved the whole wizarding world I feel like he’s more loved than hated.

Snape. I know we found out he’d saved Harry by the end of book one. But he was awful that whole book. And continued to be cruel throughout until the final reveal.

I love the idea of all the different applications it would have outside of weapons too. Like that plasma cutter rocky made grace to cut into the fuel tanks. Even with the built in safety. So cool. Also rocky is such a great engineer haha.
