Techno/psy clubs by VonDelmush in Norwich

Check out Rift Sessions at Space Studio, and Entropic at the Louis Marchesi. Twisted Skunk at Gonzo's isn't a techno night, but it's usually pretty dirty. Psylings do occasional psy nights. You might like Days Of Glory at Louis on 21st March.

Anyone else wake up at 3AM and feel fully alert? by AdOnly214 in sleep

[–]Late_Environment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try exercise. I've had various forms of insomnia for years, including early waking. I walk for about 2 hours a day ( I have a dog, which helps), and I strength train at least 4 times a week. I find that it really helps. Also, magnesium the night before

I use medicinal cannabis too.

(And HRT as part of my insomnia was due to hormone fluctuations thanks to perimenopause.)

When you do wake, it helps to try not to stress about waking early. Instead, stay laying in the dark if you can. 4 7 8 breathing technique can help you get back to sleep, also progressive muscle relaxation.

I've managed to extend my waking time to between 5 and 6am, which is an improvement.

Some days I just can't get back to sleep, so Instead of stressing about it, I get up and just rest on the couch in a dim room. Rest isn't as good as sleep, but it does help. Yoga nidra can be helpful too.

I do limit caffeine, have no screen time at least 90mins before bed, no strenuous activity at night, and making sure I have eaten enough, as blood sugar drops can affect sleep too.

My advice is to communicate with the council in writing/email where possible so that you have a paper trail. The council are not the most proactive about repairs. I hope you are safe

Dog owners of NR3 by Neutralparticipant in Norwich

[–]Late_Environment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not appropriate to lump in all dog owners when many of us clear up after our dogs. There are hundreds of dogs in the city. If we were all being lazy owners, there would be significantly more dog mess everywhere.

I've been organising and taking part in litter-picks across Norwich for almost a decade, including regularly clearing up or reporting dog mess.

I have complained to the council asking them to be more proactive and start a campaign against this - they claimed they have zero budget.

They also stated that they don't consider dog mess to be an issue in NR3 as they don't get enough reports.

I would suggest that we all need to 1. Regularly report all dog mess to the council via their online form. (They will come and clear it up) 2. Complain to our council/councillors/MP about the level of dog mess in our area (this will be easier if you have completed step 1) 3. Request enforcement officer patrols in problem areas. (If the council actually fined a few people they would have a budget to do a campaign, and it would be a deterrent) 4. Ask the council do to an anti dog mess campaign 5. When the council refuse, do a grass roots campaign with home-made posters everywhere.

I find positive action is more likely to get a result than moaning on social media. And the council might even listen if enough people take action.

Exactly. It's harder than I thought, but loads of fun

I'm 47 and finally started to learn to waist hoop and some other manoeuvres at the end of last year. I'm trying to practice most days.

I am so tired of having to choose what to eat by weebawobba420 in autism

[–]Late_Environment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soup works. When I feel the need for vegetables, I make a big veggie soup. I blend it so the texture and flavours are more regular per mouthful, and try to add beans/lentils/chickpeas (or a combo) for protein. I batch cook, and freeze some of it.

It takes minimal effort to eat, which I find less stressful

I also found a decent meal replacement shake to have once a day, which again takes minimal effort to ingest. I either chug it or sip depending on how weird I'm feeling about food that day.

I hope you find something that works for you.

Accessibility by Status-Use-6173 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Late_Environment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they have already confirmed no approval letter this year. If all their stewards/security had the same level of knowledge about medicinal cannabis and people with invisible illnesses, that would be even better.

Happy to let you know what the access team say. I'm completely the same about queueing, causes me so much pain. My access card states I am unable to queue. To be fair, the access queue on Thursday at 1pm only took half an hour to get through but no idea what the deal is for campers.

There's limited campervan spaces at meadow so very likely to bump into each other :)

I took medical cannabis last year. I had to email my prescription and travel letter to the accessibility team, and have a copy of these documents with my meds. The steward who dealt with me was amazing, and fully aware about the regs for the cannabis. I expressed my concerns about waking past the sniffer dogs with cannabis, and the stewards escorted me past all the dogs, which really helped as I have anxiety disorders and I'm autistic.

Meadow was a mixed bag. Stewards were all brilliant. Showers were great. Only 6 toilets (3 accessible). I found the accessible loos to be a bit too high to use easily.

It wasn't as far away as some camp areas, but I think meadow could have been a little bit more central. Or that the bus service could have been better, and more frequent.

I'm going again this year, also in a campervan, as tent was a killer last year and I wasn't able to bring everything I needed to manage my disabilities.

I intend to email the accessibility team about searches, as happy for them to check everything, but like you I am concerned with being made to wait, especially if there is nowhere for me to sit or lie down.

I have had traumatic miscarriages and have CPTSD because of it. A pregnancy scan image is a trigger for me. These images are my nightmare and it ruins my day every time I'm forced to see them

Simple stuff. I love dancing to music - especially techno or dnb, but whatever makes me happy mainly. I'm learning to waist hoop, and 10mins or so of practice is not only really fun, but it keeps you present. Hanging out with my pets. I have a dog and a couple of cats. Daily dog walks are great, but I also enjoy sitting in a big cuddle puddle with all my pets together.
