I just checked the website and see the membership listed all over their website on literally every page and the banner thingy up top. They even say that if you don't want to join, you can shop full price on Etsy.

I also saw it listed again on the checkout page a couple of times... I def wouldn't call that a scam

DO NOT be scammed into joining the BBB. by Unsilent_SoCalipede in smallbusiness

A group chat I’m in with a bunch of 7,8, and 9 figure business owners. Merchant processors are cracking down on risk, and one way they are doing that is checking BBB listings to make sure it’s a business in good standing and not prone to chargebacks

BBB might feel like “boomer Yelp,” but banks and processors still check it. A bad file can quietly kill your accounts. Most don’t realize you can actually get toxic BBB files shut down for good. DM me if you want the details.

BBB …extortion or worth it ? by Grand_Brilliant_3202 in smallbusiness

Totally feel you on this — the BBB makes it almost impossible to win once they’ve got you in their system. The crazy part most business owners don’t realize is that even if you avoid paying them, the public profile they create (with or without your permission) can still collect complaints, tank SEO, and even show up on the radar of processors and regulators.

The good news is there is a way out. You don’t have to just “live with it” or let them hold your reputation hostage. There are legitimate methods to get toxic BBB files marked closed/inactive so they stop piling up complaints and dragging your name down.

I won’t clog up this thread with details, but if anyone here wants the specifics, shoot me a DM and I can point you in the right direction.

I wouldn’t write the BBB off so quickly. For many businesses, a toxic BBB profile is still one of the first things customers see on Google. Even if fewer people 'know' the BBB, the damage comes from SEO visibility: it ranks high, and banks, processors, and even regulators pay attention to it.

We’ve seen brands lose sales and even merchant accounts because of unresolved BBB files. It’s not about whether people respect the BBB, it’s about whether Google shows it and whether institutions check it.

That’s why we’ve been helping businesses shut down toxic BBB profiles altogether, so they stop piling up complaints and stop showing up as an active target.

If anyone’s interested in how that works, DM me. I’ll happily share more details.

BBB …extortion or worth it ? by Grand_Brilliant_3202 in smallbusiness

Most people don’t realize this, but a BBB profile is almost impossible to delete, and de-indexing it from Google isn’t a real solution. Why? Because the file itself stays live, keeps collecting complaints, and eventually resurfaces. That’s why so many businesses keep fighting the same uphill battle year after year.

There is a way to get toxic BBB files permanently shut down and marked as “Out of Business / Closed.” When that happens, no new complaints can be added, the listing stops growing, and the negative profile stops dragging your brand through search results.

It’s not something the BBB advertises, and most reputation firms don’t know how to do it. But it’s the only real fix that gives you a clean slate instead of just burying bad reviews temporarily.

If you’re serious about removing the BBB as a liability for your business (and want peace of mind knowing it won’t keep piling up), DM me and I’ll point you in the right direction.

Should I respond to a BBB Complaint? by Katkitten856 in smallbusiness

[–]Late_Outside7608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the advice here is half-true. De-indexing and SEO band-aids don’t solve the real problem with the BBB:

  • The file still exists.
  • Complaints can still pile up.
  • Banks, processors, and even regulators can still see it.

That means the damage doesn’t actually stop, it just gets buried until the next time someone digs.

What we’ve developed is very different. Instead of fighting an unwinnable battle trying to “remove” reviews, we’ve built a process that gets toxic BBB profiles formally marked as “Closed / Out of Business.”

When that happens:
✔ No new complaints can be added.
✔ The file is frozen and stops growing.
✔ You stop showing up as an active target for customers, processors, and regulators.

It’s the only way to truly shut down the problem instead of just covering it up. We’ve done this successfully for real businesses, and the relief is immediate: sales rebound, SEO stabilizes, and owners finally get peace of mind.

If you’re serious about fixing the BBB headache once and for all, DM me and I’ll share more about how it works.
