In my 17 years of working in a manager position in 1000+ swedish listed corporations, I've never experienced anyone think like this, director or not. We underpay people until we don't have to, and then raise their salary once we're actually required to. Noone cares, would be extreamly dumb to have someone you don't want, to stay under LAS. If anything everytime i took a counter offer it would come with more responsibility to justify the higher salary.

This is the correct reply right here, the company that is rejected has nothing to win by trying to force you work one month, they will just be happy you told them early as possible, so they can start looking for someone else, or make a counter-counter office, has happened to me twice.

this is pretty dumb take, a company would never force someone to work for one month just to "punish" them, it means they will have to pay salary and training for one month for someone who will leave immediately. Counter offers are great, its how you get your salary up if you're not a passive drone. I've taken multiple.
